In the CoS module, there is a magic item known as the Blood Spear, which is a magic spear requiring attunement. On the information page for the spear, it states that if a player reduces a creature to 0 HP with the spear, that creature gains 2d6 temporary hit points.
However, on the page in the module with specifies where the players find the spear, it mentions a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls (which is not at all alluded to on the magic items page).
Is this a mistake? Should the item have only one of the two effects? Should it have both?

It appears in this case that the bonus isn't considered by the author to be an intrinsic part of the weapon, but instead some form of bonus granted by the spirit of Kraven.
You can configure this on a D&D Beyond character sheet by equipping the blood spear and then clicking on it and selecting "customize" in the sidebar. Add 2 into the Hit Bonus and Damage Bonus boxes.
Excuse me for asking again but i got in an argument with my DM and the other players.
If i wield the Blood spear normally without the effect of Kavan i get +1 to Hit and Attack because its an uncommon weapon right?
So now if im chosen by kavan i get a bonus from +2 to hit and damage. Is this now additionally to the +1 ? In the end i should have +3 to both or am i wrong here?
In our party its decided that you get +2 weapon with the benefit of beeing chosen but i still wanted to ask how it was meant from the official dndbeyond site.

Why would it automatically grant a +1 just because it is an “Uncommon” weapon? I think you are confused, not all “Uncommon Magic Weapons” automatically come with a +1. A +1 weapon is an uncommon item, but not all uncommon items get +1.

Hi there,
thanks for reaching out to us!
The stat block for the blood spear magic item in the appendices is correct, as per the published sourcebook:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/cos/appendix-c-treasures#BloodSpear
As you say though, the chapter itself states that a character chosen by Kraven gains a bonus to attack and damage rolls made with the weapon:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/cos/yester-hill#BloodSpearofKavan
It appears in this case that the bonus isn't considered by the author to be an intrinsic part of the weapon, but instead some form of bonus granted by the spirit of Kraven.

I think you only get +1 if it says so. There is no automatic +1 for item rarity.
Jesus Saves!... Everyone else takes damage.
This is correct.

Squares and rectangles. All squares are technically rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.

I see! Mb there, i always thought it works that way but thank you guys very much !
That's correct if you are chosen then the +1 spear becomes a +2 spear.
It says in the description anyone can use the spear, but only those chosen get a +2 atk and dmg adjustment
It's not a +1 weapon though
