I'm trying to build a homebrew subclass of the Blood Hunter. I see that i can only give them the spellcasting table of the Profane Soul which means they only get a max of 2 spell slots. Is there a way I can give them a feature like warlocks where they can burn sorcery points to regain spell slots?
Sorry, I missed your post until just now. Yeah, please see the Subclasses & Species FAQ #4 in the very first post in this thread. It won’t actually exchange sorcery points for spell slots, but even the official sorcerer class doesn’t do that. What it will do is let the player track their points, and the snippet put the conversions conveniently on their character sheet.
I’m trying to have a spell unlocked at 3rd level for a race; it’s showing up under the trait that adds it, but it doesn’t have the 1/long rest tick box or the spell under the spells section.
I have it added under the ‘spells’ section of the trait, it’s just not showing up on the test sheet I made for this race.

Did you designate an ability score for that spell to use? If not, that’s the problem.
Is there a way to designate from a pool of ability scores? I have it as INT, WIS, or CHA for the choice of spellcasting ability.
For example, this is the trait description:
“You know the light and dancing lights cantrips. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the color spray spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Once you cast that spell with this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast it using any spell slots you have of 2nd level or higher.
Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these (choose when you select this race).”
ignore the above, I figured it out. Thank you for the guide!

I'm creating a subclass for the warlock and I'd like to use the Fathomless Tentacles of the Deeps feature on this homebrew subclass. How can I do that? I thought maybe creating a spell, but I'm not sure exactly how that would work as the Fathomless Tentacles isn't casted at a certain level or using a spell slot.

You would create the class feature, and then you would attach an Action to it and select General Action. You would designate whichever ability score you wanted the thing to key off of, designate it as “proficient,” and set the “attack range” to melee. That will generate the attack roll for you on the character sheet. You would the. Also set the “dice count,” a “die type,” and a “damage type” to have it generate the damage roll. (Note, the ability score modifier will automatically get added to the damage roll, there’s no way to get around that.) Then you would designate the “activation type” to either Action or Bonus Action (whichever you wanted) so it actually displays under Actions on the character sheet. and set the “reset type” to either Long or Short rest depending on when you wanted the number of uses to refresh and [SAVE] the Action. Then, scroll down to the bottom of the Action and you will see a new subform labeled “Limited Use.” Click [Add Limited Use Data] and you will be able to set the number of uses there and [SAVE]. Then re-save the Action, then click [SAVE CHANGES] on the feature, and then click [SAVE CHANGES] for the whole subclass. It can then take up to 20 minutes for those changes to push through to the character sheet of your test character.
I am currently running into trouble. I made a feat for a psyknife rogue that gives them 2 slots (done as spell lists) that lets them choose from a pre-determined list of spells to put in each slot. the first one they can choose from Levitate, Tasha's Mind Whip, Intellect Fortress, Hold Person, and Staggering Smite. The second one they can choose from Enemies Abound, Modify Memory, Raulothim's Psychic Lance, Telekinesis, and Synaptic Static. I own all of these spells and have completed the feat. It works perfectly when I give it to a different character in testing, but not for the psyknife rogue. I intend this to be something that they can swap out each slot once per long rest, for something else on the list to give a bit of utility / variety, I intend to eventually give them a third choice for higher level spells such as mind blank / psychic scream. As of yet, when I add the feat to the Rogue, it lets them choose only from Levitate or Hold Person in the first slot, and Telekenesis or Modify memory in the second slot. If I add it to another class (a cleric) it works exactly as intended, so I assume it has something to do with spellcasting, but it seems weird that it would restrict it to only those options... Any setting or work around here?
Thanks, that fixed it, Turns out my player had picked up the character from me after I set up the feat. They don't own the spells that weren't showing up. I'm the DM so I could still set it up on them, but couldn't select options they didn't own. Thanks for rubber ducking it for me and asking the obvious questions, appreciate the help.
Hey IamSposta - I'm trying to make a Blood Hunter - Order of the Profane but have it based on Charisma instead of INT or WIS, I've managed the spellcasting side fine, however, I wanted to also change the hemocraft die. Since this is a base class feature I presume I cannot alter it directly but do you know how I might be able to override it if possible?

Please see the Subclasses & Species FAQ #6 in the first post of this thread, (it will involve recreating the entire Hemocraft feature). If that doesn’t work then it’s not possible.

How exactly did you set it up? Can you please share screenshots?
Are the Rogue and the Cleric both your characters?
