Just wondering, would something that's not exactly a demon but would be related to Tasha's magic work? I started making a statblock for Ilsensine (like the greatest psion and the king mind flayer) before realizing that the category was about demons.
Wow... I haven't done one of these in a very long while. But, no time like the present, I guess.
Here's my submission for the PC options:
Demonic Tiefling
Variant: Demonic Tiefling
While most tieflings are descended from devils, some are infused with the corruptive power of the Abyss. Since demons don't reproduce naturally, demonic tieflings often get their powers in unusual ways. A demonic tiefling could have been exposed to the destructive influence of a demon lord, been tainted with the blood of a demon, or have been inside the Abyss itself. Like other tieflings, a demonic tiefling could also be a descendant of a being exposed to these powers.
Demonic Tiefling Traits
The following traits replace the Ability Score Increase, Hellish Resistance, Infernal Legacy, and Languages traits of the tiefling race.
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Abyssal Legacy. You know your choice of the acid splash, fire bolt, lightning lure, or ray of frost cantrips. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the chromatic orb spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the alter self spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Demonic Resistance. You have resistance to your choice of acid, cold, fire, or lighting damage.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Abyssal.
Exactly my thought process:) Also, you do realize you've made the second most posts in all of the history of DDB. I've never really interacted with you before but I just wanted to say WOW.
I honestly haven't been on too much recently, so I'm surprised that no one has passed me. I'm thinking about making a bit of a reappearance, though. Anyway, thanks for hosting this competition- I'm really looking forwards to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Well... I have something for the DM category, too, now. I'm not especially well-versed on Tasha's lore, so it's not necessarily a perfect fit, but... it's a demon, so hopefully that works.
Aura of Silence. No sound transmits within 20 feet of Kygoros, as per the silence spell.
Innate Spellcasting. Kygoros’s spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 21, +13 to hit with spell attacks). He can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material or verbal components:
Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Kygoros fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. Kygoros has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Magic Weapons. Kygoros's weapon attacks are magical.
Actions
Multiattack. Kygoros makes two attacks: one with his greatsword and one with his chilling touch.
Chilling Touch. Melee Spell Attack:+15 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 35 (6d8 + 8) cold damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 23 Strength saving throw or be restrained until the end of their next turn.
Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack:+16 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 30 (6d6 + 9) slashing damage plus 10 (4d4) necrotic damage.
Tomb's Banishment (Recharge 5-6). A stone tomb appears around one Large or smaller creature within 60 feet of Kygoros. The tomb is a Large object with 40 HP, 15 AC, and immunity to fire, necrotic, piercing, and psychic damage. Each creature that starts is turn within the tomb must make a DC 23 Charisma saving, taking 39 (6d12) necrotic damage on failed save, or half as much on a successful one. If the tomb is destroyed, each creature that was inside of it is placed in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of it.
Legendary Actions
Kygoros can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Kygoros regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.
Greatsword. Kygoros makes a greatsword attack.
Teleport. Kygoros magically teleports, along with any equipment he is wearing or carrying, up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space he can see.
Stunning Sorrow (Costs 3 Actions). Kygoros emanates an aura of palpable grief. Each creature within 60 feet of him must succeed on a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the start of his next turn.
Description
The demon lord Kygoros, also called the Sorrow of Death or the Whisper in Mortem, is the undisputed ruler of Crypthollow, the 368th layer of the Abyss. He embodies all the negative emotions that come with losing a loved one- pain, grief, and anguish. Though his cults on the Material Plane are few, the ones that exist are terrible powers which threaten to consume all of the world in the eternal silence of mourning.
Kygoros, like his cultists, is a merging of life and death. His thick black skin, when closely looked upon, is made of dozens of rotting corpses held together by some necrotic force. Massive black horns sprout from his head like a twisted crown that demands obedience, and from deep within his sunken face, luminous eyes flicker between a dozen different colors, bringing a touch of arcane power to his intimidating frame.
Lair and Lair Actions
Kygoros's Lair.
Kygoros's layer of the Abyss, Crypthollow, is eerily silent. There are no large chambers, only passageways and intersections that lead to nowhere. Every hallway is parallel or perpendicular to every other one, and each seems to go on forever. Enormous tombs stand on each side of a passageway, and while they might seem like decorations, many are home to corpses of those killed by the cryptstalker demons that roam the layer. And somewhere, deep inside Crypthollow, is a single, vast room that is home to Kygoros.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Kygoros can take a lair action to cause one of the following effects; he can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
Kygoros fills the lair with magical darkness, which cannot be dispelled by magic of 6th level or lower. The darkness lasts until the next initiative count 20.
Kygoros casts phantasmal killer at its lowest level, targeting up to three creatures that Kygoros can see within the lair.
Kygoros conjures a spectral image of death. The image uses the banshee statistics and obeys the commands that Kygoros gives it telepathically (no action required).
Regional Effects
The region containing Kygoros’s lair is warped by the Kygoros’s magic, creating one or more of the following effects:
Any noises seem to echo unnaturally loudly.
The crypts within 1 mile of the lair seem to get closer every time a creature looks away from them.
If a humanoid spends at least 1 hour within 1 mile of the lair, that creature must succeed on a DC 23 Wisdom saving throw or descend into a madness determined by the Madness of Kygoros table. A creature that succeeds on this saving throw can’t be affected by this regional effect again for 24 hours.
If Kygoros dies, these effects fade over the course of 1d10 days.
Madness of Kygoros
If a creature goes mad in Kygoros’s lair or within line of sight of the demon lord, roll on the Madness of Kygoros table to determine the nature of the madness, which is a character flaw that lasts until cured. See the Dungeon Master’s Guide for more on madness.

I'm sorry I'm so busy I'll try and make a one page dungeon for inspirational options and a Broker rogue subclass (they make pacts for funsies), but I doubt I'll get either in.
The first benefit automatically gives expertise on Persuasion. However, you need to have proficiency before having expertise. Though you have that as a prerequisite, it just doesn’t read well. Check out the Survivalist feature of the Scout subclass for proper formatting.
The third benefit relies on the character being at least 3rd level, but Tieflings don’t have the option to even have a feat before 4th. I recommend removing that prerequisite and changing suggestion for a weaker spell like friends or charm person.

yeah, I can word that better. are you suggesting that I give essentially both proficiency and persuasion?
My thought process for the third level requirement was probably because my table uses a lot of free feats, and tbh I haven't played under 3rd level in forever, but I can remove that to make it less clunky. As far as the spell change, I think that's fair. Suggestion works really well with it thematically, but is a little powerful
Not sure what I want to do for the inspirational category yet. I think Id like to try doing a character build step by step. Maybe challenge myself to make a "space explorer" without using any actual Spelljammer content.

3/day each: bestow curse, dispel magic, fear
1/day each: power word pain, teleport
Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Kygoros fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. Kygoros has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Magic Weapons. Kygoros's weapon attacks are magical.
Multiattack. Kygoros makes two attacks: one with his greatsword and one with his chilling touch.
Chilling Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +15 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 35 (6d8 + 8) cold damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 23 Strength saving throw or be restrained until the end of their next turn.
Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.
Regional Effects
The region containing Kygoros’s lair is warped by the Kygoros’s magic, creating one or more of the following effects:
If Kygoros dies, these effects fade over the course of 1d10 days.
Madness of Kygoros
If a creature goes mad in Kygoros’s lair or within line of sight of the demon lord, roll on the Madness of Kygoros table to determine the nature of the madness, which is a character flaw that lasts until cured. See the Dungeon Master’s Guide for more on madness.

I'm gonna defer to Yamana on this, since they picked the category.

I was considering it... but then I thought, "why not make a demon lord?"

Made this magic item for the DM category, half because I don’t want Nikoli to be alone and half because I want to make something.

When I click on the link it says "Page not found." Maybe you could relink it? I'll add this post and submission to contestants anyways, so just update when you've got the link working:) Or maybe this is just a bug with my computer, does the link not work for anyone else?

HERE.I'm sorry I'm so busy I'll try and make a one page dungeon for inspirational options and a Broker rogue subclass (they make pacts for funsies), but I doubt I'll get either in.

my submission for pc options, the fiendish charm feat!

Here’s my critiques:

Updog
Not necessarily. One way you could do it is by giving proficiency, but if they already have proficiency, giving expertise.

Not sure what I want to do for the inspirational category yet. I think Id like to try doing a character build step by step. Maybe challenge myself to make a "space explorer" without using any actual Spelljammer content.
