This is just a post to ask if homebrew updates will ever happen. In my time homebrewing stuff I've come across roadblocks at every turn. I would search the forums and find out that the feature was promised in a roadmap (nearly 5-6 years ago for most of the features) but here we are with the promised overhauls never occurring.
The foundation is built for all this stuff and I feel as though it shouldn't be too hard to implement, but here I am making this post.
Even in the homebrewing section, we are teased by features such as recovery type in magic item spells but are unable to edit them. Not to mention that magic item actions.
I understand that the devs are busy making their VTT, but come on, many of these features have been asked for since 2018 or longer.
Just skimmed changelogs. Only updates to homebrew since January 2022 have been 8 bug fixes...
In the time I've been waiting for some of the mentioned homebrew updates, I've finished the final two thirds of a PhD, moved thrice, and picked up a new job. I won't say it's never going to happen, but the homebrew feature updates were clearly abandoned even before WotC bought DDB. Since then? Deafening silence.
Edit: We've added about 40 billion new humans to the world in that time. Welcome to Earth new humans! I hope the homebrew updates arrive before you die!

Between the OGL debacle and the mass layoffs, it's clear that the higher-ups at Hasbro have their own ideas on how D&D should be run and are moving those plans forward.
Given how transparent they have been about further monetizing D&D, I would expect that adding more homebrew features - which provides no direct income and arguably creates content that competes with their own - is far down on their list of priorities.
It is what it is. Best we can hope for is that they update their own tools for generating OD&D content and those tools trickle down to us.
