I have ideas for 3 new important tactical skills that would support ninja's and samurai, and figured out a way to turn it D&D.
Precision, Evasion, Acceleration.
This idea would give more evasive people the chance to outright dodge attacks, based on the range imposed. Longer range, the harder it would be to hit, unless you use area attacks.
Look here for details about the mechanics, it's only in testing, but this would definitely improve many of the more speed based builds in this game, for example, improving thieves.
The basic idea... attacks can outright miss altogether now, regardless the damage.

This statement is meant to be both provocative and condescending. Look at these pathetic huddled masses in their private and closed games, cringing behind the policy of no homebrews and no custom content. This is an insult and injury even to fire types. HEED THIS! Your better off playing rpgmaker. It's everything this place wants to be when it grows up. Seriously. Otherwise, good luck, they will overdo things. All because of safety and security... kor.
It's interesting, but the mechanics you've proposed add a number of additional rolls to resolve combat.
Whilst there's nothing wrong with wanting to run an opposed skill combat system, it just isn't D&D. There are many FRPG (Fantasy Roleplay Games) that use opposed systems and I've played quite a few myself - they were good fun, but one of the great things about D&D, especially with 5th edition, is the speed of combat - it allows for much more roleplay, as opposed to rolling dice and comparing numbers.
It only affects tactical situations. Think gaining the ability to dodge and evade. Separate of the damage, it adds an element you would use to ignore it. or adds the possibility of proper critical hits.
We could call it 'advanced format'. ok? if the players want to go that way, and add a tactical element, it's great, ok?
It's good for range and sight... that's the use of it. Even infinite could be done, but then (ouch) it would be subject to those with high evasion. Long range would almost never hit.

You keep seeming to forget which sub-forum to post in. Stuff like this is much better suited for Homebrew & House Rules. This sub-forum is for feedback on the performance and functionality of the site and it's tools, not on the game itself. You might be able to get much more useful feedback by posting in the right sub-forum

So, not agreeing to your (quite frankly) ridiculous homebrew rules apparently does two things.
#1: Apparently just because we don't agree with you means we aren't listening to you and we're ignoring you. Even when almost every single one of your complaint threads (and there's a lot of them) has had a mod comment on it.
And #2: Makes us troll bait? For wanting to play a game the way we want to play it? This is kind of like posting on a thread that plays UNO (not sure how you'd play UNO on a forum, but let's roll with it) (heh heh roll heh heh that wasn't a joke why am I treating it like one) (ignore the previous parenthetical comment) and insisting that the creators of UNO, who aren't even members of the forum, change the rules so that you have to draw an additional card if the last card you drew was a blue card. And then, insulting the entire forum for not agreeing with you.
Does this make sense to anyone else?
Also, if any community isn't "troll bait," it's this one. You are honestly the only rude and trolly person I've encountered on here.
Sorry for rambling a bit, but I feel this has to be said.
And, now he's changed his signature. Not only is it now implying he's been persecuted, it's also even more nonsensical. "If I get banned, it's not my problem." Yes. It is. That's how banning works. "Just because I took the path of wisdom." Wisdom would point out that making threads complaining about inane things no one else has problems with is pointless, and 2. complaining about D&D mechanics to anyone other than WotC is even more pointless.

Not to belabor this, but I feel compelled to acknowledge that complaining about and tweaking D&D mechanics is one half of the purpose of this forum.
On the actual topic of this thread, Mike Mearls has said countless times during Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour that during playtesting of 5e, the D&D team found that players don't like complexity during combat. The player is flustered, trying to remember all the rules, while the others are anxiously waiting for their turn. This is part of why summoning spells and 4e are thought poorly of. I worry this optional rule will tax the system's complexity cap and will slow combat to a halt.
While I have the moment, I'd also like to put forward my appreciation to the moderators and everyone else who was so patient and kind with Reizon during their brief tenure. That compassion is a large part of why I continue to frequent the forums.
