Sorry if this is dealt with elsewhere. How do I get at values like proficiency bonus? I am trying to create a fighter subclass that gets the Jack of All Trades bonus to all ability checks a la Bard. I was trying to create a Modifier - Ability Checks - Fixed Value - proficiency/2 but that didn't work. Is there a table somewhere listing these values?
Is there a more detailed tutorial breakdown anywhere? I'm looking at all the Modifier types and not all of them are very clear to what they do. For example, "Melee Weapon Attack" has damage types for its Modifier Subtypes, but so does "Damage" and "Replace Damage Type". I don't really have any idea what "Stacking Bonus" does.
Do the Ability Score, Dice Count, and Die Type fields relate at all to the Modifier Type? Those three fields stay available no matter what Modifier Type is chosen. What would it mean if I had "Damage", "Acid", "Cha", "1", and "d4"?

That depends on what you put that mod on. If you put that on a weapon, it would display that the weapon does an additional 1d4 Acid Damage, the Cha mod may or may not be included, I don’t actually recall. But the dice roller isn’t smart enough to add it anyway. If you put that on a spell, pretty much same thing. If you put it on anything else, bubcuss, nada, zip, zilch, zero.
No, there isn’t a more detailed breakdown anywhere. You can ask more specifically in the homebrew forum and helpful people will help whenever possible. Or you can trial and error learn it yourself like those helpful people did.
I will tell you, the easiest way to learn is to make a homebrew using something else as a template just to dissect it and see how it works.

i tried making a statblock for the 3rd transformation of a bigbad for my own setting who can transform, and for some reason it keeps overriding the second form statblock and i can't get the 2 to be both listed separate, one keeps replacing the other Baston T'sarr (Third Form) - Monsters - Homebrew - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com)

Did you do it using the 2nd transformation as the template for the 3rd transformation, or did you go to the page for the 2nd transformation and click “create new version” instead?
The first way allows you to make a copy of the thing and edit it to have two separate versions. The second way is how you replace the old version of something that you have published to make corrections. So, if you did it the second way, that’s the issue. If you did it the first way, then that is an actual bug.
Personal tip: You don’t have to “publish/share with comunity” your homebrews to use them. You only need to do that if you want perfect strangers to be able to use them. If you don’t give a fig about perfect strangers, then not publishing your homebrews is actually a lot less hassle on the creator since it’s easier to fix stuff, and it can help reduce issue like this many times.
Random question, but is there an automatic filter set such that if you browse the community’s homebrew it excludes your own homebrew creations that you’ve shared?
Edit: Ugh. No. There isn’t.
I’ve checked it on a homebrew magic item, and I can quite happily see that by searching, but a sub-race I first published a couple of years ago (and which is still in my own collection and says ‘Published’) doesn’t seem to appear in the general homebrew race list for some reason. Any ideas? I know it was shared.
I'm moving several of my homebrew subclasses to dndbeyond. Are there any videos/cheat sheets/guides that can help me with displaying variable numbers in the snippets for my features? i.e. Life Domain cleric's Channel Divinity option has {{classlevel*5#unsigned}} to show (on the character sheet) the amount of hit points it can restore
Edit: Never mind. I'm dumb and didn't check all of the pinned threads.
I'm brand-new to DnD. I want to play a Circle of the Moon Druid, but that circle option isn't available in the default character creation menu. I need to homebrew the Circle of the Moon subclass(I have no intention of publishing it, so copyright is of no matter to me, it's strictly private use) but I'm really struggling with programming all of the features correctly so that they show up on my character sheet. If anyone could walk me through the process or link me an explanation, I'd really appreciate it!
The same goes for me trying to homebrew a Warlock Celestial Patron subclass(again only for private use), and I'm just having so much trouble figuring things out.
I think this dude speaks for most of us when he says that the modifier creation system is confusing, so a guide or instructional video would be super helpful for anyone making a homebrew.

Making an existing subclass template to see how those features are programmed helped me a TON when I was first figuring out how to do this. I do not recommend using it as an actual template but as more of a "how to program subclass features." There's another thread that talks about snippet codes, and I suggest you use those as much as possible; they help immensely with the amount of mental math/reading you or another player would have to do.
I am making a spell list for a sorcerer subclass with, much like the genie warlock, 1 spell of every level learned based on the subclass, and 1 spell of every level learned based on a specialization choice. However, because there are 5 options for specialization, I can't just copy the genie warlock table and change the spells. Is there a way to add and remove rows and columns to tables in the D&D beyond textboxes? I can copy the table into a different program to add and remove rows and columns, but then the font and coloring changes when I copy the table back into the D&D beyond textbox, and as far as I can tell, the default text isn't one of the options under the fonts.

tried using 2nd form as a template, and i tend to publish them so others can use them and so i can share them with others in dnd servers on discord
Okay, so you went here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/creations/create-monster, selected your own monster as the template, and now it has overwritten the original? That is strange, and most certainly a bug.

I don't know, sorry. It seems to work fine for my homebrew race, but i don't have any published subraces i could check on.

You can find it here. It's one of the pinned threads in this forum
