Quick question: I've created some homebrew spells that are in my campaign, but I did not publish them. Should my players be able to search for them? Neither they nor I could see them using the global search tool. I added them to one of my players' character sheet manually, and he could see it on his sheet. Is there something I am doing wrong?
If I understand correctly, that will require a Master Tier subscription.

If the spell is created by someone outside of the campaign (say it was one of mine), then a subscription would be needed to add.
If the spell is a private homebrew of the DM's creation, then the character that is in that campaign should be able to search for it and add. Or the DM would be able to edit the sheet and add as well.

Good to know. Did you just imply the ability for players to use each other's homebrew in campaigns they're both in?

Not sure what you mean, I did not say anything about other players creations in the same campaign - as Hartless pointed out, the homebrew of the DM is available to the players in the DM's campaign.
My first line was in reference to your comment on needing a Master Tier - subscriptions are needed to add public homebrew (hence my example).

I have no idea what I thought I read. Never mind. Nat 1 on Perception.

I definitely was able to edit and add. And they could find it in the Add Spells section. It's just second nature for me to start with the global search, and it came up no-go. So that is functioning as it ought to be then? So long as they can find it to add it, I'm fine. :-)

Wouldn't that be great? Along those lines, if a player makes a homebrew item, the DM will be able to see it, yes?
So, I'm currently working on a longsword version of dragon scale mail, but I can't figure out how to make all 30 (+1, +2, and +3 versions for each species of true dragon) fit into one "dragonbone longsword" item. What am I missing?

You may want to clarify the statement on question 20 of the pricing FAQ to read more like this:
"With a subscription, you gain the ability to access published homebrew from other users outside of your campaigns who have chosen to publish their homebrew."
I know when the subject first came up we asked a lot of questions about clarifying that point and it was a bit difficult to understand at first the difference between what my campaign considers homebrew vs. the site at large and what would need to be done to access the homebrew content I made but my DM didn't.
I love this site, and the features so far, but I am having trouble with certain homebrew magic items. I want to be able to track charges used in the character sheet on items that are homebrewed, but after testing, it only seems to track the ones that have spell usage attached to them. Am I missing something?
You could use a table like the dragon scale mail does or you could do them each individually as well. Your choice.
So, suppose I do that. How do I get it to differentiate between the various types on the character sheet?
You can't if you combine it into a table. It'd be one of those elements that would have to be remembered or manually entered into into the digital character sheet (when available) if you did it that way. Individually, it would have to be unique enough to be allowed into public homebrew. We prefer all public homebrew to be unique and different than anything that's already been published by WotC.
Hate to cross post this into a different thread, but this actually seems like the better thread for it, now that I've been thinking on it.
How do I go about adding in just bonus damage to a homebrew weapon? Using Bonus - Magic adds it to attack roll and damage roll, while using Damage - <Damage Type> doesn't even reflect it. And the opposite for that matter, Attack rolls but not Damage rolls. Bonus - Melee Weapon Attacks gives it to all weapons.

Bonus damage is pretty easy to add to a weapon. Check out the Flame Tongue weapon as an example of adding 2d6 fire damage to attacks with the weapon.
Modifier Type: Damage
Modifier subtype: (pick one like fire)
Dice count & die type: in this case, 2 d6
You can also use the "Fixed value" field if, instead, you want to add a static amount of damage to the item.
Note that if you choose a damage type of "melee attacks" then it will increase the damage of all weapons your character has equipped (incorrectly I believe, but the staff may know otherwise). Also, note that adding 2d6 flame damage or even +6 flame damage, doesn't show as increased damage on the character sheet.

That's my big issue, is I was going for a flat +3 damage to rolls on a custom weapon (Vestige of Divergence, Agony, from Critical Role), and it doesn't show on the attacks sheet, so it just shows 1d8+STRMod (so 1d8+5) on my test character instead of 1d8+8. I'd rather not have to have every player I ever give one of these too have to customize the attack on the sheet to get the correct damage.
Same goes for a different Vestige, but Attack roll only instead of Damage. I just don't see why there isn't a Bonus - Damage, and Bonus - Attack, as the Bonus category seems to be calculated on the sheet correctly, but you only have the option of Bonus - Magic, which does both.

Agreed. Also a nonmagical bonus, for, say, weapons made out of unnaturally sharp materials.

In general, it might be good to see a rundown of how all the options work and interact (or don't in what appears to be most cases) with the sheet. When I first started looking for how to use all the options, I had been hoping to have a wiki. Sadly, a lot of right now is just me poking around and experimenting to see what works.
I can't even figure out how to get bonuses to require attunement, as that doesn't seem to be on the modifier editing page.

Okay, but what about dragonbone longsword, +1 (gold) versus dragonbone longsword, +1 (red) versus dragonbone longsword, +1 (brass)?
