Hi there! Just wondering if I could get some help with the homebrew tools. I'm trying to create a feature that grants you the option to choose two ritual spells from any spell list, and then an additional ritual spell from any spell list at 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 15th and 18th level. So what I have set up for this feature is this:
HAS OPTIONS is unticked
CLASS LEVEL WHERE OPTIONS KNOWN is blank
CLASS FEATURE OPTIONS contains options for 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 15th and 18th level. Each option has IS GRANTED ticked, and the appropriate level for REQUIRED CLASS LEVEL. Each option has a spell addition, where what I've done is add every available SPELL CLASS, ticked ONLY RITUAL SPELLS, set the LEVEL DIVISOR to 2, and the RITUAL CAST TYPE to must cast as ritual.
SPELLS (within the original feature, not the options) has two spell additions set up exactly as in the class feature options.
The issue is I can't get the additional ritual spell options to appear; the two granted at 1st level from the SPELLS section work great, but additional ones never appear in the character builder as I increase the class level. I've already tried creating 8 of these spells and changing the AVAILABLE AT CHARACTER LEVEL to the appropriate levels, but this had no effect and all 8 choices appeared on the character sheet from level 1.
Here is the subclass for any moderators (I believe regular users will not be able to access it). The feature is called PREPARING RITUALS.
Tp make this function the way you intends you would skip options entirely and add the others the same way you added the first paiR of spells.
The “Is Granted” function only works if those options have prerequisites of other non-granted options that they had to pick earlier. I went into more details about properly configuring subclass options in the following thread, I hope it helps in future.
I had tried that beforehand, and to try and make sure that the additional spell choices only became available at certain levels, I changed the AVAILABLE AT CHARACTER LEVEL section to the appropriate level, but as I said above this didn't impose any limitation at all, and all 8 choices showed on the character sheet regardless of level. Is there any way to limit a spell choice to a certain level within the one class feature?
Thanks for the tip about the granted option! Did not know that. I was trying to use it as a solution to the problem stated above.
You would have to add each instance of that feature as its own thing at each of the designated levels. Believe it or not, that’s how DDB had to implement some of the official class features as well.
Yeah it seems this system has a long way to go. I understand that there are many, many, many features planned on the table and that D&D is incredibly complex but it's frustrating that the platform best known for it's technology integration falls short in that regard occasionally. Regardless, thanks to all the work you guys put into the site, it has changed D&D for the better and I'm sure it will continue to do so for many years to come!
Thanks for you help on this issue too - I certainly learned a thing or two :)
