Deciding not to push the horses unless you absolutely feel the need to, the party still manages to catch up to the 'Refugees of Garrum.' They are stopped at a river passing diagonally in front of them from the northwest to the southeast. But as you first come over a small rise in the plains, some 90 feet from the 'Refugees of Garrum,' you bear witness to a very odd sight indeed.
There are 3 medium sized eagles attacking the 'Refugees of Garrum' but these are no ordinary eagles for although they have the body of an eagle, they have the head of a stag.

"What the heel are these creatures?!" Bow shouts before moving forward.
As a bonus action he imbues his hand cross bow with rite of the dawn, taking 4 damage, before taking a shot at the closest eagle. (Not sure how far away they are; just in case I put in two attacks so you can take lowest if the shot is at disadvantage)
Attack 1: 19 Damage: 8
Take into account if the shot was at disadvantage: 11 Damage: 11

Bow heels his horse to ride closer and fires his trusty hand crossbow. It strikes the Peryton in the chest which then reels in the air and looks like it might fall to the ground at any moment.
(the Perytons start about 90 feet away, Bow has rode 80 feet toward them.)
