Dusk will wait for Wispy to reach the bottom and will use the Bat's senses to locate a suitable space at the bottom, within 30 ft, and with the simply utterance of "Cam" will cast Misty Step to avoid the effort of having to climb. In the air around him it looks briefly like shattered glasses, his form evaporates into a silver mist that is sucks into the cracks with the reverse happening as he reappears later, the entire process taking about a second.
"Magron, you said you had true sight? Perhaps you should lead? I will have my bat scout around you, and Wispy will be behind you, in case anything happens. Eyes and ears - magical or otherwise - open and alert!"

Grom sighed and debated climbing down, decided against it. He was no athlete, and the shield definitely got in the way. Though this went against his desire to keep their powers a secret, once everyone else made it down he simply stepped into the tunnel and drifted down to the bottom, the storm which boiled within his blood bearing him down without any harm.
"Alright, let me move first indeed. Do you guys want any light or rather travel through the dark for now?"

"I'm not concerned either way" Dusk answered Magron, "but maybe the light will give us more clarity at distance? There is no point in being sneaky, since I'm quite certain they already know we are here. I'm sure Grom's theory is correct and is why those brains and rats didn't fight back. They were learning about us and most likely relaying that telepathically to their masters. If so, we don't have any element of surprise here. So, there is no reason to not use light if you have it."
Dusk thought on a bit more. He had read a bit about them. "What do we all know about Illithids - also called Mindflayers? Myself, I don't know much. I've seen sketches on what they look like, I know they are telepathic, I know they feed on brains, and have a sort of hive mind. I know they make creatures with weird experiments but only knew about Intellect Devourers, I didn't know they made glowing rats. I know they come from a distant strange realm. And that's about it. Having never physically encountered one or anything made from them until today, I can't even confirm if much of what I know is true or not. What about you three?"

The close proximity of men inside a constricted place has been causing her to huff in discomfort, but it's something that is beyond her jurisdiction to complain about.
"Hunting down Mindflayers is a new experience for me as I'm more inclined to tracking down fey, fiends or undead. It's more likely that we're going to deal with something which is more intelligent than a bandit of fiends."
She attempts to perceive the availability of air inside the passage and if there's something that might reduce their life force.

At the end of the rod a warhammer head of crackling radiance springs into existence giving us some light, which seems to be sunlight. Than he moves into the hallway.

Maerwyn will watch the disappearance of the shaft suspiciously since the last time she had checked for any passageway there's been nothing to be found (see #247).
"I fear that I was mistaken to declare it as a dead-end, there's a hallway down here, so far so good".
She attempts to cast web at will to conjure up a mass of thick, sticky webbing at the entrance of the trapdoor, thus 30 feet above the point where she stands. She's seen rubbing a small strand of spider web with her fingertips when a thick net of webbing will fill a 20-foot cube to guard the entrance for an hour. The webs will make it difficult for an intruder to sneak on them and lightly obscure the area, working as an anchored curtain between two solid walls of the passage.
"It's a relief to see some type of radiance which does not stem from fiery sparks. That would've started a fire since the webs are flammable".
Dusk will follow with the others down the passageway.

Maerwyn will try to feel the interior of the hallway using the palms of her hands, she trails the walls carefully with finger-tips, sometimes pausing frequently to kneel down to touch the ground.She's been trying to find out if the Mindflayers have passed through this passage, or whether they have sent more of their minions through this path to do their dirty business or not.
Intelligence(History): 21 (rolled in gamelog with advantage from Grim Psychometry class feature)
Grim Psychometry: When making an Intelligence (History) check to recall information about a darker past surrounding an object you are touching, or a location you are present in, you have advantage on the roll.
(@Orange20 Is it possible to know how much time has passed in the game/structured time? Some of the spells have time restrictions, that's why it's necessary to make an estimation.)
Tracking if something has been through an area is more of a Wisdom (Survival) check. History is typically recalling information learned before. Unless DM wants to rule differently.
