Relying more on the surprise factor than fright, the villager's shriek fails to shake most of CRAP+'s members. Doozey is one of the few who is caught unguarded and, despite not usually falling prey to such effects, the stoutling can't help but become temporarily mind-numb.
Taking advantage of his state, a different flying head swoops in and... plants a kiss on the ranger. Over their shoulders, the rest of CRAP sees the same exact thing happening to an also-numb Thokk.
-> CHA saving throws {DC 12} vs. Kiss:
Doozey: 12
Thokk: 16
(OOC: Villagers' turn continues on the next post.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Despite being quite groggy, both the stoutling and the half-orc manage to turn their heads and avoid whatever it is these detached heads are trying to do. Unfortunately, by turning, both adventurers now face a second would-be flying kisser.
-> CHA saving throws {DC 12} vs. Kiss:
Doozey: 16
Thokk: 10
(OOC: Villagers' turn continues on the next post.)
Both Doozey and Thokk continue shaking their heads. The halfling avoids the second kiss attempt but Thokk continues to struggle with his harasser. Unfortunately for the hunter, Exirsa encourages yet another flying head to swoop in: "C'mon now... gives us a smooch!"
-> CHA saving throws {DC 12} vs. Kiss:
Doozey: 19
Thokk (Indomitable, reroll for the save in the previous post): 20
(OOC: Villagers' turn continues on the next post.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Doozey manages to refuse the advances of three kissers in a row, while Thokk finally pushes back his insistent second kisser. Unfortunately, Doozey's toil is not yet over. A fourth assailant approaches lips first:
->Doozey's CHA saving throw {DC 12} vs. Kiss: 20
(OOC: Villagers' turn continues on the next post.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The swarming show of deviant affection finally becomes too much for the incapacitated stoutling. The fourth assailant manages to force its way through the hunter's defenses and pass a globule of infected drool into Doozey's mouth. Others watch as the stoutling's throat becomes instantaneously red with inflammation. Whatever additional effects this may cause are not yet known.
One more flying head manages to reach the group in the early stages of the fight. This one approaches Neya and shows her its teeth instead of lips:
Neya raises her forearm instinctively and is bitten down hard. As her skin breaks, the monk can feel the dragon mask fragment on her face simultaneously boost her immunologic defenses, dulling the poison contained in the biter's saliva. (Neya takes 10 piercing and poison damage, already taking into account resistance to poison.)
Two more flying heads approach from the distance, but they can do little except focus on flying as fast as they can toward CRAP+.
-> Here are the Villager Heads' positions at the end of their turn. They are all 10ft from the ground except for Villager Head#3. Being 10ft from the ground means they are within melee range once you account for PCs occupying a 5ft cube:
Villager Head#1: {AQ-93}
Villager Head#2: {AK-94}
Villager Head#3: {AO-95} - 15ft from the ground.
Villager Head#4: {AN-92}
Villager Head#5: {AQ-94}
Villager Head#6: {AN-94}
Villager Head#7: {AM-93}
Villager Head#8: {AL-93}
Villager Head#9: {AM-95}
Villager Head#10: {AO-93}
(Neya, and Graxx are up next. They are each within melee range of two flying heads.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Even more disgusted at what the hags have done to this islanders, and now sure that this is not an illusion, Neya takes advantage of the bite she received to get some strikes in on that bit her. If it goes down, she will turn her attention to the other one closest to her.
Neya swiftly retaliates against the biter, popping three accurate strikes before it has a chance to move anywhere. From the corner of her eye, the monk notices that a standing headless body falls limply to the ground just as she knocks the head off the air. (Villager Head#9 takes 26 magical bludgeoning damage and is DEFEATED.)
Flipping her body into a roundhouse kick, Neya dedicates a fourth strike to hitting a different floating head. (Villager Head#6 takes 8 magical bludgeoning damage.)
(OOC: Feel free to open the spoilers if your character understands the referenced languages, though not for the telepathic communication bit unless you are the target.)
Bigar squeezes by Dornal to get a bit closer to the rest of the group {AP-95} and places two fingers on his right temple. Focusing his mind to the frequency of Doozey's he speaks to the stoutling telepathically using the Goblin language:
"Do not worry, Mr. Doozey, I am here with you even if your mind is in trouble at the moment."
The greenling then extends his other hand forward, which is grasped around a wand. Using his real voice and the Gnomish language, he yells an incantation:
Three flying heads shriek in pain as they become blinded. This includes the one Neya injured as well as two others who are within 5ft of it.
Bigar then returns to his original position {AR-95} after squeezing by Dornal once more. By the time the greenling is back to that spot, Graxx has already rushed west to meet the the winged fiend in battle. The barbarian is furious (Rage) though still in control of his swings. The human warrior is spared from showing his back to a couple of opportunistic flying heads because they are currently blinded. Nonetheless, a third head does get a chance:
The good news is that the bite never makes contact with the barbarian. The bad news is that Graxx's intentionally controlled attacks come at a cost. None of them carry enough momentum to break the axe-wielding fiend's tough hide.
Dornal produces a lidded tankard from somewhere on his person and chugs it down with impressive speed. He emerges from the stunt ready to enter his own brand of frenzy (Rage). Wielding his cudgel in one hand and balling his other hand into a fist, Dornal swings and punches as he advances {AP-94}.
-> Cudgel(Reckless Attack) vs Villager Head#5: Attack: 29 Damage: 13 (26,10+2 from Rage)
-> Punch(Reckless Attack) vs Villager Head#5: Attack: 18 Damage: 10 (18,10+2 from Rage)
The flying head caves in and falls to the ground, as does a decapitated body in the background which was still standing till now. (Villager Head#5 takes 12 bludgeoning and 12 magical bludgeoning damage and is DEFEATED.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The green fiend smirks at Graxx's arrival and, to his eyes, puny attacks. He looks at his greataxe as if considering whether the human is worthy of being attacked with it and shakes his head after a moment's thought. Freeing one hand from the weapon's handle, the creature decides to instead swipe at Graxx with his claws:
-> Fiendish Claw vs Graxx: Attack: 22 Damage: 13 (20,12)
-> Fiendish Claw vs Graxx: Attack: 10 Damage: 14 (24,12)
(OOC: The creature attacked only once. Please ignore the second attack above. Green Fiend's turn continues on the next post.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As the attack hits, Graxx feels that the creature's claws are imbued with some nefarious power. (Graxx takes 6 magical slashing damage, already halved.)
-> Graxx's CON saving throw vs Fiendish Claws {DC 16}: 2410 (25)
(OOC: The creature attacked only once. Please ignore the second saving throw above.)
The barbarian's resilient physique manages to fight off whatever malady those claws tried to inflict him with.
The creature then flaps its wings and smirks once more. Then, showing that the initial flapping of the wings was just another way to tease Graxx, the creature simply disappears from view instead of doing the expected thing and flying away. Looking around, Graxx spots the creature far above the ground. It is maintaining its altitude of 60ft while looking down on the human warrior. His wings are now flapping with purpose.
(OOC - Can Utar use a reaction to allow Graxx to use War God's Blessing to give +10 to his first attack on the fiend? I'm a little unsure about whether you get a reaction in the first round of combat if you haven't taken your turn yet. If he can, he's totally doing it.)
Watching Graxx charge headlong into danger, Utar burns to follow the barbarian into the fray and start swinging Lightbringer. Looking about at CRAP+ he pauses. Back on the ship, he was of more use helping to tip the playing field in their favour and supporting the others to deal damage. Biting back on his anger, his pauldron glows as he casts spirit guardians. Suddenly Grewalt, Abet and Ilim appear, shimmering out of thin air where previously there had been nothing.
"Push on and make sure Graxx doesn't stand alone! We'll thin out these flying monstrosities!"
(OOC: Yes, Utar can use his War God's Blessing reaction to add +10 to Graxx's first attack.)
Up in the air and still smirking at Graxx, the green fiend feels a delayed pain on his arm. He turns to look and watches the furious light of Tempus and dutiful shine of Torm emanating from a fresh slash wound. (Green Fiend takes 33 magical slashing and radiant damage.)
Utar feels his orcish blood urging him to rush into battle alongside Graxx but decides to take a more calculated approach. As he tries to bring his former party into the battle, Lolmetta wags a finger at him and teasingly says: "No, no... I remember dat trick. No more friends." Before Grewalt, Abet, and Ilim are fully formed, they fizzle away.
Some ten feet behind Utar, Thokk is still under the influence of the villager's shriek.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lolmetta immediately begins casting another spell. Her eye are now fixed on Neya. Before she can finish, however, from the back, Bigar finds enough courage to scream a few words while waving his wand: "Two can play at this game!"
-> Bigar attempts to counterspell Lolmetta's spell. He needs a raw INT ability check {DC 15}: 25 (15)
The greenling just about overpowers the purple-skinned hag, earning an angry hiss from her.
Elisande slowly walks toward Doozey. She stares at the waterskin he offered her but does not reach for it. Instead, she gets really close to the stoutling and, opening her arms in a calm manner, offers him a hug. Elisande takes whatever faltering response the stoutling is able to give as his consent and finishes the motion of enclosing the ranger within her arms. At first, the gesture feels quite gentle. Then, Elisande tightens her hug somewhat and sighs pleasantly. The hug keeps getting tighter until it becomes uncomfortable, but Elisande is not done. Showing that she has gained some sort of inhuman strength, the cursed girl begins to crush the halfling in her arms.
-> Crushing Hug vs Doozey: Attack: 26 Damage: 28 (26,28)
Doozey can feel his insides hurting but, not fully able to collect information from the environment around him, is unable to fully understand what is happening. As if the power of the hug wasn't enough, the thorny flowers adorning Elisande's arms help keep the halfling grappled. (Doozey takes 28 bludgeoning damage.)

CRAP+ hears the rapid skittering of insectoid feet approaching from the distance. Then, suddenly, two figures teleport into the party field of vision, each just a few feet behind one of the hag sisters ({AE-92} and {AF-96}). The duo of human-sized insect creatures are covered in dense chitinous plates and wield fiendish oversized forks as weapons (gnarly tridents). Their wide-set eyes glow red as they stare down and identify their foes.
Exirsa tries to come to her sister's aid by waving her wooden staff in Bigar's direction
Bigar's confidence grows: "I can read what you are attempting to do even before you finish your thought, witch!" Bigar has now earned the wrath of both sisters.
