Arriving with small group of road weary travelers, a spirited blonde girl jumps down from a rickety wagon and stretches, looking around appraisingly. She gathers her pack and her sword and heads into the tavern. She trusts that one of her father's hirelings will arrange lodgings and such... she instead finds a nice corner table and produces a deck of playing cards, shuffling them rhythmically while eyeing the other patrons to gauge their interest. She'd come to fight in the arena matches but there was plenty of time to kill before then, and she had a little gold to wager...
COUP is an IRL card game that I like to play... and there is a free web-based version of it I thought it could be a fun way to meet players and maybe gamble for GP? I dunno. If anyone is interested, get my attention in this discord server (Cammie's Card Table) and we'll arrange some games/lessons!

@All: Since this may very well come up in the future, I'm posting some homebrew rules update. They may be subject to change pending further review and 'field testing'. If anyone has any questions or suggestions regarding the rules below, please feel free to post them here or PM directly to me. When I have time, they will be added to the main list at the beginning of each thread currently under operations by me.
Tossing items to other players vs passing. *If item is already in a players hand(ie. from previous round(s) interactions), they may as a free interact pass it to another creature within 5ft. *If an item is not, it takes a free interact to pull it out and an Action to pass it along. *If an item is being tossed instead of passed(ie. passed between characters 5ft of each other), then in addition to the rules above, the receiver will need to expend their reaction. *In the event an item is tossed and there is an enemy combatant within 5ft of the receiver, the enemy combatant may attempt to intercept at the cost their own reaction. At which point, it becomes a contest. If contested, both players may roll Raw Strength or Dexterity(player's choice) check. Whichever one is highest successfully acquires the item. The original intended receiver may choose instead not to contest, retaining their reaction in such an event. In which case, the item will automatically go to the enemy combatant that expended their reaction. *For the sake of my sanity, in the event there are multiple enemy combatants within 5ft of the receiver, only 1 may expend their reaction to try and intercept. *In all cases, the receiver needs to already have a hand free. No exception.. for the moment. *In a pitched battle it is not always easy to see an item being tossed with the intention of helping the receiver. So for the time being, the initiator must reveal themselves if hidden as part of making the toss. Please use a bit of logic when 'tossing' an item, as some are not very "aerodynamic", and thus may not go as far desired. Check back with the current DM for limitations.

Namor walked into the bar with a huge, almost child-like smile on his face. He had already equipped his prize from the arena, and now carried a far more ornate glaive--one newly-forged of pure sea magic by his patron, and given as a gift cementing their pact. After a hard-fought win, he was eager to go again, but for now--
"Yo-ho!" he called out to the first waitress he saw, hand raised. "Your best ale!"
Not long after the sailor's brazen entry, another figure came into the tavern. An older gentleman, clearly dressed as a warrior, but one more used to urban encounters, it seemed. Various darts and daggers were visible on his person, alongside a shortsword and buckler on his back.
Whistler scanned the common room as he came in, then nodded toward his contact once he'd spotted him. He hadn't really expected it to be Josiah--he was sure the kid would have found more reputable work by now--but there he was, leaning back in his chair, grinning like a cat as gave a short wave to the bounty hunter.
The newcomer quickly found his way over to the youth's small table, and pulled up the chair opposite him. With a slight smile, he nodded again. "Josiah."
"Old man," came the reply. He was already starting his little game. Whistler's smile almost went into a smirk as he ignored it.
"I knew you'd moved up 'ere, son," he began, the emphasis on the last word almost imperceptible. "But I didn't think ya'd still be workin' with us ruffians. I was sure you'd ha' found sometin' more... suitable for a man in yo' stage o' life."
The redhead shrugged hard, his unkempt curly hair bouncing as he did. Whistler didn't laugh, but his smile broadened a bit. "What can I say?" came the response. "I like it. You guys are fun. The danger's fun. And--" he tilted his head down to look at Whistler from the top of his eyes. "--it pays pretty well." Still grinning like a cat.
The older man rolled his eyes as he fished a small pouch out from under his coat, but kept his smile coolly plastered on his face. "I ain't forget, now," he said as he slid the coins across the table. "You's just a mite bit impatient, I reckon." As the youth righted his chair and reached for his pay, the fighter quickly leaned over the table a bit, launching into "Well then? You gots yo' gold, so how 'bout singin' yo' tune?"
Josiah paused, his hand perched above the pouch just as Whistler prodded him. There was just a flash of hesitation on his face, enough that the bounty hunter's smile broadened into a toothy grin; at which point the youth's face fell and he looked away as he slapped his hand over the pouch while grumbling. "I was getting there, old man."
"It's the coliseum." The youthful arrogance had evaporated; Josiah spoke plainly as he tucked away the pouch, discretely looking around as he did. "It's back open. Lots of activity lately. Surprised it took you so long to find out about it, to be honest."
Whistler put on his best exaggerated oh-is-that-so face as he nodded slowly. He thought for a second. The coliseum had always been a great place for new and experienced adventurers alike to hone their skills and earn a bit of income. His other contacts were right to have pointed him here. "That so?" he said as he rubbed his chin through his beard. He broke into his broad grin again. "Guess I's be staying in town a while after all."
Josiah chuckled. "Might as well," he said as he backed up his chair and stood. "Could be just what you need to knock the rust off. Oh--" He stopped and placed his hand over his chest where he'd tucked his coin under his vest. "--did you?..."
"I did," Whistler nodded. "Enough to pay yo' highly specialized, fully licensed service fees a couple mo' times 'fore I leave." He smiled again. "See ya's around, son."
The youth scoffed, but couldn't help but smile too. "Sure thing, old man," he replied before discretely exiting the tavern.

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

The vocals had already told him this was likely a yuan-ti, but Whistler found he still had to force himself to remain expressionless as he turned to look over the curious figure. He'd not seen many of them, and while the appearance wasn't entirely startling, it did take his brain a second to push past those lizard-like eyes.
He smiled his usual, disarming smile. "Not 'xactly," he replied, "I'm not from these parts myself." He rubbed his chin as he thought a moment. "I do know they's a magic shop nearby; they might jus' have what you lookin' fo'."
The bounty hunter gave directions to the shop, then cocked his head a bit. "I suppose you gonna jump inna coliseum, eh?"
