Shocked that Hun would slap this morsel of food out of his hand, Yulmiath lets his shock show with a "Hey! I was going to eat that!"
Having the benefit of an explanation, he looks more closely at the 'fruit' and concedes to Hun's sharper eyesight on this occasion. "Thanks... I was going to eat that..."
The occasional shudder of revulsion ripples through Yul's body throughout their walk through the jungle.
AT THE SHRINE:
"Whatever this shrine is, its best left alone. I can see no reason to disturb it. If we're all for pressing on, let's press on."
Hun crossed his arms and nodded approvingly up at Yulmiath as Mr. Thicc made a 'Z' snap formation behind him the kobold, startling even his creator for a moment. "Leave'm?" He replied to Kairus after coming out of his shock. "Mmn... Uh... Well, in my humble opinion, any predatory creature that builds or secretes something that might be attractive usually does so to attract prey. In this instance in particular, those bugger boos probably make a habit of regularly surprising beasts that might snack on them. But, so long as the surface is not punctured and treated with some care, it... should be fine. BUT, you would be playing fire." Hun then rubs his scaley chin in thought.
"If you don't want it though, give it to Mr. Thicc to hold. My Kobold senses are tingling, and tell me that they can make for quite an impromptu weapon." He suggests. If Kairus however insist upon leaving the nest be, Hun would not push things any further than that. But if allowed to take on ownership, then Mr. Thicc would gently put the nest into his empty chest cavity and seal it up for the most part.
Later at the Mini Shrine...
With no prying inquires into his finding, Hun had been content to look for a nearby flower and add it to the arrangement, then clap his hands together twice before giving a small, closed eyed bow. Wordlessly after, its back onto Mr. Thicc for the kobold for the remainder of the trip...
"Press on? Hmn...A big risky in a way if something or someone has decided to make use of it. But, if the rest of you are eager to push on, then by all means, I guess. Let's push on."

Kairus paused and looked thoughtfully at the automaton, that Hun created all by himself. Grandpa was not completely helpless and even knew sometimes what he was talking about... "Well, all yours if you think you can get a good use of this." The fruit was handed to the kobold and Kairus happily forgot all about the incident.
"I only meant we press on if we can reach the shrine before night. Otherwise no rush. But getting there would be preferable, sure."
Eeyal clarifies: "From here, we would have to continue our trek for another two or three hours in order to reach the Shrine of Fangs. The sun is coming down now, so we'd be walking in the dark, barring any light sources you may want to use. It is a bit risky, but we could then camp on a spot fairly close to the Shrine, or explore it in the night if you like that idea. Otherwise, if we prefer to call it a day along with the sun, we can camp here and reach the Shrine some time in the late morning tomorrow. What will it be?"
(No sane tourist will ever postpone setting camp until night! But who said we are sane here...)
For Kairus it did not matter much, but others could care. "We will need rest one way or another and will begin exploring same time no matter where we stay. So... Press on?"
In answer to Kairus' earlier question, Hun grinned and just patted the triton on the thigh in a 'Don't worry about it' sort of gesture. At a later time he'd could go into details. But for the moment, he was more clearly estatic over admiring his latest acquisition from Mr. Thicc's chest cavity, awaiting the day in which he might unleash the terrors dormant within it.
"Not all of our leather hided brothers are as fortunate, Mr. Yully."Hun comments. "But then again, even we have our limitations there." He added with a chuckle. More than that, the kobold felt no need to add having already voiced his concerns. Despite being a cautionary soul at his core, its clear the dangers of the land were far less a worry than those at sea.

”Ain’t no harm in goin’ further! I kinda wanna see how this place looks as it gets close at night. Maybe some more glowing mushrooms make themselves known?”
Eeyal and Damu both shake their heads, which makes the entire group realize that the tortles are the only ones without the ability maintain some of their ability to see under darkness. Although it sounded like Yulmiath was poking fun at them at first, he is the first to light up a torch to their benefit.
The group decides to keep going for a few more hours. Eeyal expresses a bit of concern by clicking her tongue, but nothing more than that. Conversely, Damu is excited: "Perhaps at night it would be easier to come across something to hunt." The young one seemed a bit surprised with the lack of beast encounters during the day's trek, but looked hopeful now.
Jungle noises do become more intense and fearsome at night. The sense that something is just behind the next tree or hiding just outside your field of vision is ever present. Despite this increased sense of danger, the next two to three hours go by fairly quickly. Eeyal takes the group on a path that goes around a set of mountains of ever increasing heights. No mean beast approaches the group looking for a meal and neither does the group unluckily stumbles upon a voracious plant. All is well that ends well, it so seems, although Damu is a bit disappointed with the continued lack of hunting opportunities.
Eeyal picks up the pace at some point just to stop a couple dozen feet ahead of the group. Just beyond the trees ahead, she points at the base of a mountain, which shoots up from within the jungle and is part of the range you have been walking around this evening. "There. At the base of the mountain. There it is: the head of the serpent."
Near the base of the mountain is a giant carving of a snake’s head, its forked tongue forming a ten-foot-wide, twenty-foot-high stone ramp. Stone fangs descend from the roof of the serpent’s mouth, which forms a canopy over a dark, ten-foot-wide tunnel leading into the mountain. Eeyal lower her voice, just in case: "Not many tortles explore this place. Anyhow, are we setting camp somewhere nearby or going straight in?" She waves the torch she has been holding.
(@MB: Because torches only last for one hour each, Eeyal and Damu would have needed three of them to reach this place in the night. Please be sure to deduct them from your inventory.)
(OOC: If choosing to explore now, I'll need a marching order. If choosing to take a long rest and explore in the morning, please describe what you do at camp and roll a perception check for your watch.)
Yulmiath shrugs, "Don't imagine the light penetrates much further beyond the entrance of the cave, even in daylight. But, if I were waiting out here for those who venture inside, I'd prefer to do it in the daytime."
Setting down his pack he looks around the group. "Reckon we could do worse than setting camp a little ways from the mouth of the place. Keep an eye for any night-time visitors this place might get?"
(OOC - Torches deducted. Yul is happy with any watch, hopefully he rolls better this time... Perception - 8.)
"Camp. We need to be well-rested to venture into the unknown!" A bit theatrically declared Kairus looking around for a good spot for a camp. "Maybe right here under the trees? We can see the mountain but those inside the mountain might overlook us."
As usual, he would take the first watch (or any other, but the excitement of a new adventure would keep him up easy enough).
Hun doesn't even appear to entertain the thought of /not/ camping, as he's quick to scrabble down from the machine men to get to work on the very thing. That is, just as soon as he and Mr. Thicc are finished digging the Kobold a new burrow to sleep in for the night. "There. Perfect. Now! Ms. Eeyal? Young Green? Same as before. Though, if'n you're feel yourself doze off, just let Mr. Thicc there know and he'll take over for ya." He suggests as he carries on with camping duties with digging a small fire pit to heat up the bird jerky by... unless folk suggest a cold meal for the night.
(@Lerus: In addition active watcher's perception, Defender is keeping a passive eye out throughout the night.)
"No sense in goin' in tired!" Rhogal says. "Besides, if'n anything cmes out during the night, that means that many less things ta deal wit' when we go in!"
The group decides to find a camping spot for the night and rest their bones before exploring the shrine in the morning. A campfire is lit, dinner is served, and a couple hours of fraternizing ensue before most begin resting. Soon enough, Kairus finds himself solely responsible for the first watch.
@Kairus: Knowing that the shrine is nearby, you take this watch duty more seriously than any previous one you have taken while in this island. Your eyes and ears are peeled and attentive. You miss not a single errant spark from the campfire, not a single nocturnal animal's call. When the time comes to wake Rhogal up, you are happy to have nothing to report.
@Rhogal: At some point during your watch, you catch a glimpse of some small winged creature flying overhead. You think it was probably a bat, or some nocturnal bird. Probably not something to worry about, even if the troupe has had its fair share of bird problems. When ten, twenty, then forty more minutes pass without incident, you feel vindicated in your lack of concern. Later, your eyes begin to feel a little heavier and you decide it is time to wake up Yulmiath.
@Yulmiath: It seems you were given the third watch again. It is late and dark enough in the night for all creatures of the shadows to be out, and it is still too early to hope to see the first rays of sunlight before the end of your duty. The thought of exploring the Shrine of Fangs in a few hours takes up much of your mind and, even though you are not sleeping on the job this time, you catch yourself not paying too much attention to your surroundings. Before you can reprimand yourself, something whizzes by.
-> Flyby Bite vs. Yulmiath: Attack: 22 Damage: 11 (original rolls: 22 and 11)
Something fast and small just attacked you with fangs sharp enough to quickly pierce your scales and then release their hold. You look at your arm against the light of the campfire and notice two small puncture wounds next to each other. The initial pain is quite manageable as the wounds are diminutive. Two seconds later, you begin to feel the effects of some type of fast-acting venom. (Yulmiath takes 11 piercing and poison damage.)
(@MB: How do you react? Please roll initiative.)
(@Ori: Mr. Thicc noticed the attack. What does he do?)
