"I doubt there is," Jim replies to Sleet. "I think the people of this land have only known misery, pain and suffering for a long time. It is clear that Strahd likes to toy with the people for his own amusement. I suspect we will discover that other people have had similar fates or worse at the hands of Strahd."
Jim then follows Caine.

Are we back in that room? The description of the trapdoor is the same as from post #996 (it sounded familiar so I went back and took a look to see if I could find it).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Razi takes a moment to inspect the holy symbol. Does he recognize it? Religion: 21

"I've not been able to recognise any of the symbols around here," Jim adds."It seems the books I have read did not talk about this land at all."
Jim steps back out of the room and takes another glance around.
"Let's get out of here. We came here to speak to the representatives of the gods, and we found only one. One that clearly believes in a higher power, but if there is such a thing, here, it did nothing to protect the priest's son. Instead, we had to take care of business ourselves, just like we always have to. The gods aren't listening."

Still squinting and wracking his brain at recognizing this holy symbol, Razi concedes to Jim's point. "All the same, I think we should check the storerooms here, if they have such things. Any holy water, silver, or other such items could be of better use to us than to the poor, broken souls here. And I cannot imagine any good-aligned deity would begrudge us if we borrowed their holy water to combat the horrors that had so tormented their worshippers."

"Well," Jim replies. "I doubt there will be much here. I'll be waiting outside. Don't take long about it, otherwise, we don't want to keep Madame Eva waiting for us."
Jim then makes he is way to the exit of the church, humming a tune. Once outside he will lean against the wall of the church keeping an eye out for anyone approaching.

Jim shrugs his shoulders, "I doubt we find much of anything. It is a curious idea that you have though, finding out about people by looking at tombstones. There are those who still remain in the town. I'm sure they know who used to live here."

Caine pauses and looks at the trapdoor for a moment, than another. Then he looks back at Jim.
"What's going on here?" Caine finally says. "How many people are locked up here?"
Caine approaches the trapdoor, kneels next to it, pauses again, then takes a breath and knocks loudly on the the door.
"Hey, can you hear me down there?" Caine calls. "You feeling a bit vampirey?"
Jim looks back at Caine exchanging looks of confusion.
"Unless this is a trick of some sort? That has to lead back down to where we just were, right?"

Caine takes a look at Razi as he inspects the holy symbol then looks back out into the hall to see if there are any other doorways nearby.
Nelyna walks up to the holy symbol with Razi, peering over his shoulder.
"What is it?" she asks him quietly.

Caine looks around at the state of the church.
"Not likely to be much here, but yeah, it's worth a look," Caine says to Razi.
Caine starts looking through the rest of the rooms for anything of interest.

If Caine finds nothing else in the church after rummaging through the other rooms and around the knave and apse, he will join Jim outside.
"Anyone feel like a look around the cemetery out back?" Caine asks once back outside.
Nelyna follows Jim and Caine outside.
"I'll take a look with you," the high elf says to Caine. "Maybe we can learn more about the people who lived here by looking at their tombstones."
