(I'm envisioning these serpents to be laying on the railings of the stairs going up, correct?) Seeing that the serpent doesn't attack right away, she instead lights a torch and keeps it between herself and the serpent that has awakened as she continues up the stairs.
Todd mutters under his breath... I thought I tried that one.... No matter he walks forward with his handy PKE meter detecting magic as they go. "Snakes, why did it have to be snakes." He says to no one in particularly. "I am not very sneaky," He whispers to the others, "Perhaps someone else should go first? I could try and distract them with one of my gadgets...."

Seeing them hesitant Stefan moves forward slowly. “I don’t think stealth is an issue any more. Perhaps being friendly will do. Snakes like friends right?” Taking his own advice he lowers his cane and walks forward slowly but steadily.
Jean gets close behind Gwendolyn, partly to read over her shoulder, and partly/mostly to put as much distance between himself and the snakes as he can. "What's it say? Another clue?"
Gwen jumps back a bit with a little yelp escaping her lips, bumps into Jean and that surprises her as well. Once she gets her breath back she talks to the mummy, "I am sorry to take something that wasn't mine, do I perchance know you? You sound familiar." She asks the mummy, but also looks down at what she is holding to see what is on it.
Glancing furtively over his shoulder and seeing the snakes getting closer, Jean whirls around, his back toward Gwen, and holds out his rapier. His other hand reaches for a pan flute on his hip. He recites the contents of the note under his breath over and over again as if running lines for a theatre role, committing it to memory. "I don't know about you lot, but I'm thinking it might be time to get out of here! Wait... What do you mean the mummy sounds familiar?"

One of the serpents heard Gwen and slowly started to wake up. It has not started moving, but it is aware she is there.

Jean, swallows loudly and follows behind Gwendolyn, trying to walk as lightly as possible.
Stealth: 6
Stefan waits for Beck and Todd to move forward trying to take the rear position.

The serpent stays far enough from Gwen but still watches her.
Jean stumbles a bit and causes another serpent to wake up and start moving towards him.
Beck hangs back a bit slowly drawing out her sword just in case.
Seeing them hesitant Stefan moves forward slowly. “I don’t think stealth is an issue any more. Perhaps being friendly will do. Snakes like friends right?” Taking his own advice he lowers his cane and walks forward slowly but steadily.
Gwen continues up the stairs, ready’s fire bolt and the trigger is if any of the serpents attack.
Jean begins to panic a bit as he sees the snake approach, and he scrambles up the stairs a bit faster, trying to keep his distance.
The snakes stay a good distance back not feeling terribly provoked yet.
(Well I’ll just follow behind Gwen and Jean. Keep an eye on our new friendsssss but other wise not ready anything or make any other aggressive move.)
Gwen continues up the staircase
As they get near the top the mummified body of a person is a lot more clear, and it’s clutching a piece of paper.
As Gwendolyn reaches the top of the stairs she checks out the mummy, Investigation: 25
Then she takes the piece of paper and looks at/reads it
Jean gets close behind Gwendolyn, partly to read over her shoulder, and partly/mostly to put as much distance between himself and the snakes as he can. "What's it say? Another clue?"
When the paper is taken from the mummy’s hands it starts to move and to groan. “T-that I-is not y-yours.”
gwen notices when it speaks it seems somewhat familiar but she can’t tell due to the state of the body.
Tensing as the deceased speak Stefan swivels his head to look towards the snakes and see what they are doing.
The mummy does not answer Gwen and only stares off into space.
The note reads,
Gems of the horsemen you must find
For they have the power that binds
But also the power to burn the skys
Forged in trust they must be
And before the last call
Or all shall fall
But head this warning
Those who seek the truth will guide us all
But heroes who rise shall also fall
And those you trust will be the biggest betrayal of all
The snakes are slowly gaining on the group.
