There exists a town at the end of the world called Doomcolt, which was named because of the horse that ruined everyone’s world. Heroes still exist, but they are few and far between. That is why you were chosen by the world’s leaders to return with quests so heroic that no one can argue that you are heroes. You are sent out to the world, with anything you might need.

Hey there! What you have written so far sounds intriguing, but it would be nice to know more. Your expectations, more about the world, etc.
I see in your signature that you are working on "The Darkness at the Edge of the World." Does that mean the snippet you have here is just a work-in-progress?
closesthour, I am working on this. The world of town of Doomcolt is part of a much bigger world called Blink, which was called this because it was said to be created in a time walker’s blink. This is a Play-by-Post, obviously since you found it there, but there’s not going to be a lot of fighting. It’s going to be similar to Legend of Zelda, but with more helping and puzzles than fighting. If you’re interested in playing, feel free to join.

When is this starting? Are there any rules? I've never been part of a play-by-post before, but have wanted to try one. If your fine with that I'm interested.
This starts whenever any players are ready, and the rules are that if you have to leave your characters behind, you have to come up with a canonical reason for him to leave the party for any amount of time. Also, there’s not going to be a lot of roleplaying, so character stats aren’t required except for the brief background of your character.

Like Rynn_Elocin above, I've never done a play-by-post before, but it sounds intriguing. How does it work, and how does one join?

Ok, so are there any guidelines when it comes to player races or is any race ok? Is this set in a traditional fantasy setting? Anything i should know about the world before i make my character?
Any races are allowed, except for anything larger than Large itself. This is set in a somewhat traditional setting, except that it’s post-apocalyptic. Some parts of the world have never known magic, so beware if you’re a mage in those parts. And also, barbarians are looked down upon, because they blame the apocalypse on their host of deities.

What level should we start our characters at? And are there any preferences for leveling up (milestone vs XP)? And are there any other preferences you have for character creation?

I must not have said above, we won’t need any rules. However, if you would like to make a character, you should probably make it about level five-ish.

Sounds good, I've made a character already! You mentioned that the campaign was kind of based on LoZ, so I took a little inspiration from that...

Other than the character, is there anything else we need to do? If not then I'm ready and super excited to start!

Should we have a backstory made as well? Or, like the character sheet, is it not exactly required?

Abandoned by our family, my brother and I found our way in the world by simply taking what we needed. Mind you, we only took from those who had something they didn’t need... most of the time. We moved from village to village, city to city, avoiding attention. Until one day, they found us. We fought until we could no longer stand. They beat us until we could barely breathe. I woke up a day later. In the bed of a kind soul who took pity on me. Blast me, I can’t recall his name. To my dismay, My brother wasn’t so lucky. Once I could stand, I thanked my savior and made my way to the ones who hurt me. I found three of them, at night in a tavern, laughing and drinking. Anger stirred within me. Before I knew it, they were all dead. Phantom like blades disappeared from their chests only to reappear in my hands. It scared me, magic and the like always had. But the fear was outweighed by my satisfaction. I walked into the tavern, ignoring the startled stares of those around me. I took anything valuable off the dead, then left, closing the door behind me. I made my way back to the house of my savior. I did not talk to him again, rather I left him the money I had acquired, by dropping in through the window. After all, no deed should go unrewarded, good or bad.
Now I await what the future holds. I will do what the leaders want. Who knows, perhaps I will even find a worthy companion or two.
Well there’s my backstory. I’ll post stats when I get the chance. I just don’t have access to soul knife on dnd beyond. So I’ll make it on another platform then put it in a spoiler.
I took a lot of inspiration from the post apocalyptic aspect. If you have anything you want to add to it to make it fit in the world better, let me know.
Rynn_Elocin, that’s great. I love the elaborate backstory. Tez005, the backstory is part of who your character is. Make it as much as you want. However, I’ve also seen great characters that have been made off of improv. It’s all who you and your character is.
