Douglas will listen quietly while keeping an eye on what is happening around the room. He will then reply, "I think the rat is Ziza's. I neither think she would allow a strange creature in her child's bed, nor miss it entering. If there is one person in this inn you can temporarily trust, it's probably her, so let that go for now. Not like we could do anything anyway."
" from what you have told me the cloaked individuals are probably breastplate, and the fake Soriah. Unless you now count five town guards, as fake Soriah was a shape shifter, and the second cloaked figure would probably be real Soriah, and we should be concerned. "
Asledin will continue up the stairs, and enter the room, careful to step over the hole in the floor. When he gets the chance, he will inquire about the letter and ensure that it is still in this group's possession.
Flint rubs his bald head as he looks at Sergeant Modesty “Not much to tell, really. Supposed to watch this letter for a guy until his contact comes to pick it up. Didn’t say what was in it and I didn’t ask. Though apparently these fellows know something about it” Flint gestures at the Orcs. “Some guy named Raskin. That name mean anything to you?”
Once Sargent Modesty leaves the suite, or is at least out of earshot, Ula will update Asledin (and Flint, if he's there too) about what happened with the old man, the rat, and the hooded figures. They will avoid trying to speak with Imra for now, though, because he seems to be intentionally acting like he isn't with the group.
Ula will then ask everyone in the room, "So what now? We've already spectacularly failed at holding on to the letter, although if it is still with Ziza there's a chance we could get it back. There are shapeshifters and invisible people involved in addition to mercenary groups, and there's a huge hole in the floor that we may or may not be liable for. Where do we go from here?"
Asledin puffs out his cheeks, looks up at the celling, and blows out the air in a whoosh. He then looks at Ula and says, "Ziza....None of this means anything without the letter, if Ziza has it, I think we need to try to get it back.". "I need to head back downstairs and get with Imra and the mercs. I will lead on that we are at least friendly, because of our aid dealing with the Orcs."
"We should wait to approach Ziza and Theran. At least until most of the inn is empty or they approach us about the room. No reason to advertise what has happened. ", Douglas will say.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Flint lets out a low whistle as he realizes the party no longer has the letter. HIs immediate inclination is to go retrieve it at once and is surprised with Douglas counsels patience. “What if that is too long? What is to prevent Zizza from leaving the tavern right away with it, or passing it along to someone else? If we don’t confront them, we need to at least keep an eye on them.” Flint moves back downstairs and looks around the common room, trying to spot Zizza and the baby. Perception: 16.
"Then, she does. However, there is an ancient trust between proprietor and guests. It hails all the way back to the first chiefs and warlords and their guests. It requires a host to provide for and protect those whom they accept into their home and share food and drink with. Them and their goods. It is returned by a requirement on the guest to do all they are able to support their host and assist in any defence of the home or belongings of the host." Douglas recites causally.
"Theran may be angry, but I judge her to have honor and a commitment to family. I don't see her or hers breaking the oath. If they wanted it, they simply could have tossed us out of the inn when we first told them."
Avoiding interacting with the others in the suite, Imra will head down into the tavern and look for Gashrack and Lilli.
Perception: 16
upon finding them, Imra walks up to Lilli if she’s alone, or to the pair if they’re together, “Well….. the guard has them. But the people in the suite are nasty fighters, they stopped the orcs before I even could strike! Lilli, you said you can’t sense the item any more?”
Imra finds Gashrak and Lilli at the table where he sat with Gashrak earlier. Lilli is nearly in a full panic.
"I don't understand" she keeps repeating "One second there and the next, gone! I have failed my Master. He will not be pleased with me"
"Let's not panic" Gashrak says "I don't think there's anything we can do right now. Lilli's got a room rented here and I've got a bed in Dorm room"
"Arden and I have other arrangements" Roach says to Imra, suddenly sitting to his left but didn't seem to be there a second ago "He's doing his thing and may have something to report in the morning" the greasy and unkempt Halfling adds.
"I say we call it a night and regroup in the morning" Gashrak says "Are you and Asledin set with a place for the night?" he asks Imra

"I haven't heard the name before. We'll see what we find out from the Orcs. The Triumvirate can come down pretty hard on illegal planar travel, but to that cavalier with the lives around you and damage that they've done to the demiplane itself. Might turn out that the dead guy is the lucky one" Modesty tells you. "So, nobody knows where the letter is or what's in it?"

You don't see Zizza at the table she sits at under the stairs to the Suite. Most of the customers have left. You do see Theran talking to two of the employees. She spots you as well and walks over. She still looks angry.
"I'm having planks put down at the entry to the Suite so it'll be easier to walk in and out as well as some basic cleanup and a cloth put up like as curtain so you have some privacy. I'll get workers in after day break to do repairs" she tells you "It's going on your tab
"I need to head back downstairs and get with Imra and the mercs. I will lead on that we are at least friendly, because of our aid dealing with the Orcs."
Asledin joins Imra where he's sitting with Gashrak, Lilli and Roach. They fill him in on the discussion above.
"What about you?" Gashrak asks Asledin "You have a bed for the night?"
Imra nods to the trio, "We've got funds for a room, between the two of us... and Asledin stayed to talk with the folks the orcs attacked." He looks to Asledin, "How were things upstairs? Do the others look... unhappy?"
Flint puts his hands out in a “who me?” gesture “Come on Theran, it wasn’t our fault. I was trying to stop ‘em. Put it on the Orcs tab, or Raskin.”He pauses “But thank you, it is appreciated. Did anyone else get hurt in the mess?” Flint looks over at the empty table under the stairs. “Where’d Zizza head off to?”

"Zizza took Trina and went to bed, which is where I'll be going shortly. I suggest you and your group do the same. Goodnight" she says and turns to head behind the bar.
"Psst" you hear behind you and turn. Zizza is sitting at her table, and you know for a fact she wasn't there a few seconds ago. With one finger she beckons you over.
"Sit" she says "Theran's closing down the bar or I'd offer you a proper drink" she says fishing a flask out of a pocket in her clothes, takes a drink and offers it to you "for now, this will have to do"
She indicates the basket "This is Trina" she says proudly "and her nanny over there" in response a large white rat with red eyes stands on her hind legs "is Mrs Euphegenia Beshandal Buttersmith, a special friend of mine. Effie for short" The rat does a passable version of a courtesy. "I think it's reasonable to assume at this point nobody believes you still have the envelope" she says, reaching into a different pocket, pulling out the envelope and handing it to you "Do what you can to keep it that way" she adds with smile.
"Theran is right. You really have no idea what you've stepped in, have you? Why is it neither of you two old Soldiers see that you're in the middle of a war zone?"
Douglas continues cleaning up the room getting it ready for those who have not slept, even going so far as to use Prestidigitation to clean blood, soot, and stains. He draws the curtains across the windows and places a chair inside the curtain (between the curtain and the wall/window) just to the side of the window, making it possible for someone to subtly peak around the curtain to the outside without drawing attention or opening the curtains.
He will position a second chair and table about ten feet into the center of the room from the hole in the floor and the entrance, giving whomever sits there both a station to comfortably guard from and an object to use to block the entrance (the table). He will fetch these items from the bar if he needs to.
He will open the door to the bathroom and replace the board to the hidden pipe compartment. If either room has a closet, wardrobe, chest, or cupboard he will open them, leaving them open and exposed. He will gather his pack and gear, noticeably leaving the gold on the floor, and deposit it on the table along with the doll (if it is still in the room) along with any other oddities. He will start a normal small fire in the fire place.
Once all that is completed he will take a seat at the table to look at the oddities before he takes a deeper look at the book he received (stole) from his previous Master.
Asledin looks at Imra and shakes his head slowly. "They look...unhappy. But they do appreciate our help with the Orcs." Asledin shrugs and continues, "Sleep might be a good call.". Asledin glances at the occupants of the table under the stairs and mutters, "Hmm."
