After picking up his backpack, Rizo makes his way to Dolsela’s gate towards the forest. He sits down on a milestone and waits patiently while listening to birds singing in a nearby tree.
Rizo's passive perception is 16 with advantage for things related to smell. Here's the char sheet in case you want to check something without having to ask: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/65372697
The party gathers on the outskirts of the forest, and begins their trek!
At first, the forest seems serene and inviting: lush evergreens, twittering birds, and dappled sunlight surround you. But as you venture deeper, turning away from the path that leads back to Dolsela, the going gets tougher. The dirt underfoot turns to mud, and thick vines stretch between the trees, as if placed there on purpose to stop you. Standing pools of water dot the landscape, and the buzzing of insects fills your ears. You find yourselves on the edge of a fetid swamp.
Rizo, your clever nose picks up a foul odor on the noxious breeze: it's the unmistakable smell of goblins. Glancing over at Aeron and Depths, you can tell they've noticed as well. Revelry remains blissfully unaware.
"Ugh," Rizo curses, "There I thought the smell couldn't get worse." He stops dead in his tracks and looks carefully around, wary of an ambush, and hushes to Revelry, "There're Goblins around, be on your guard. "Then, he utters an ancient word and touches Depths, casting Guidance on Depths, whispering "Let your instincts guide you." (A little help for stealth, Initiative, or whatever you see fit.)
Aeron takes a deep breath, his hand slightly going to his mace. He looks to the others for a moment, quietly saying, "Think we could talk to them?" he asks,
*Does it seem like the goblins are grouped together or spread out around them?*
The goblin in the tree lets out a startled squawk and tumbles backwards. You hear the goblins muttering amongst themselves for a few seconds. Then one of them cries out "Scatter!" and all three run (or limp) away into the swamp. As they retreat, one yells back "You haven't seen the last of us!"
((Success! I'll tally up XP at the end, so we don't have to deal with fractions, unless y'all prefer XP after every encounter.))

Aeron, you see just the three goblins. Make a Persuasion check (ETA: or Intimidation!)
Depths, you feel confident that you're hidden.
