I understood that it’s your choice. You may if you wish or you get a free ride to the next encounter. I also skipped a crocodile in Rime’s first encounter.

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
Atherna takes the platinum and looks at the map for a time before setting off for its location. Never the one to be unprepared, she reads a scroll of mage armor, orates a scroll of enhance ability (Cat's Grace), drinks a potion of heroism, and quaffs a potion of poison resistance once there. She tries to sneak near the teleportation circle in an attempt to get the drop on the wyvern that guards it with a Stealth of 14 (9,9 + 5) and an initiative of 15 (8,12 + 3)
(By the way, I probably should have asked sooner, but how would you prefer we handle pre-combat effects like potions and spells? I've only used things that last 10 minutes or longer, which seems fair to me, but I suppose I'd like to know if you'd allow 1 minute effects to be used pre-combat as well, or if you'd prefer I just cut out the pre-combat stuff regardless of duration.)
Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

I'm easy going when it comes to rules. I like to know when there are different DM rulings but when it comes to pre-combat, I want your character to try and justify the buffing, even if it's a one round effect.
Also, I think we should also take a short break before Tier 4 until Saturday Morning, we did this once before. That'll give the other guys time to catch up and it will definitely slow things down a little. But I'm still having fun so I'd like to see how far we get before things taper off.
I’ll return to town and report to the people, then spend 1500 gold for a suit of plate armor and 200 for the sword of wounding (can I spend the same amount to put that enchantment on my +1 axe instead?) Now I’ll jump through the portal and fight the Hellwasp!

Just to get an idea via example, would I be correct to assume that something like, "As I approach, I buff everything on a hunch." is the kind of thing trying to be avoided (to avoid a video-gamification feel) whereas "As I approach, I know there's a reasonable chance of combat so do some buffing" and then after actually seeing the guard further monster-specific buffs?

Crap. That means I’m down! I’ll attempt it again for the end of my turn, and then the wasp is up. 19
Hang on! As a dwarf a get advantage vs poison. So I’ll take the second roll as the original save and take my turn. Also, I’ll riposte against the missed attack. Attack: 26 Damage: 23
and then a trip attack. If this attack hits, it needs to make a dc13 str save or fall prone (possibly taking damage?) Attack: 26 Damage: 14
and if either of those hits it needs to make a DC15 com save or take 7 necrotic damage.

Actually, since trip doesn’t require an action apply it to either attack if it hits.

I think, I will wait until the shopping list for the new tier is ready, because I don’t want to use anymore scrolls of an upcast spell, if a scroll, then just the basic variant unless I can prepare the scroll myself.

I'll let you choose. If you want a second I'll roll init. Otherwise, you can start tier 3

Yeehaw. I’ll close to melee and attack with action surge! Attack: 12 Damage: 5
