"Meddling fools we may very well be, but you fine wizard are the one that is about to be shackled. Now, tell us what you know anything regarding the Black Spider, the Cragmaw, Iarno Albrek, or anything else you may know!"
Blackstaff has a black staff, which Rindelk grabbed. It is a Staff of Defense (7 charges have been used up). He was also clutching a scroll of Charm Person and a scroll of fireball.
His answers to your questions:
The Black Spider is a drow.
The cragmaw is a clan of goblinoids. That's all he knows about that. The three bugbears were sent by the Black Spider, but he never needed them.
Blackstaff is Iarno Albrek.
He knows a lot of things. He knows you're all going to die sooner than later because of your meddling. He knows he'll be freed by the Black Spider, so you just wasted your time. He knows that (and he goes on about all kinds of irrelevant topics, geography, history, the names of his neighbors when he was a child, the name of his pets....)
Um, I don't think my hit points went up for level 3. DM. Can you confirm that? Also, I think I'm allowed to pick 1 more level 1 and 2 more level 2s. Again, confirm DM?
I will not revert back to Leek form yet. I'm expecting a sign to maul him at any minute. He has outlasted his usefulness, and I want to prove him wrong about the spider gal saving him!
Level 1 is always max hit dice. For a druid, that's d8 = 8 hp. Then you all chose fixed HP, so for a d8, that's 5 hp per level. You have zero CON modifier, so your total for level 3 is: 8 + 5 + 5 = 18.
At level 3, a druid has:
2 cantrips
4 level 1 slots
2 level 2 slots
From the Druid class page:
Preparing and Casting Spells
The Druid table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your druid spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these druid spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.
You prepare the list of druid spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the druid spell list. When you do so, choose a number of druid spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + your druid level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
For example, if you are a 3rd-level druid, you have four 1st-level and two 2nd-level spell slots. With a Wisdom of 16, your list of prepared spells can include six spells of 1st or 2nd level, in any combination. If you prepare the 1st-level spell cure wounds, you can cast it using a 1st-level or 2nd-level slot. Casting the spell doesn’t remove it from your list of prepared spells.
You can also change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest. Preparing a new list of druid spells requires time spent in prayer and meditation: at least 1 minute per spell level for each spell on your list.

DnDBeyond will also calculate it for you. If you look at the class section of your character builder, under 'known spells', it says Prepared Spells: 4/5.
I have no problems with killing him. Direwolf Leek will aid in mauling him if need be.
Once G is dispatched, I will turn back to Leek and go find Droop and make sure he's okay. Then we can ask him if there is something in the cave we might have missed. Other secret stashes etc.
As Blackstaff/Iarno revels in telling you all of the things he knows that are useless to you, Leek sees Kitryn moving in with murder in her eyes. Going for the throat at the same time Kitryn stabs Blackstaff in the kidneys, the wizard looks utterly surprised that a group of heroes basically murdered him in cold blood.
Returning with the hostages to Blackstaff's chambers, you all find his desk full of papers, neatly stacked. The contents mostly consist of written orders to apothecaries and alchemists in nearby settlements for reagents. However, there is a letter signed with a symbol of a black spider:
Lord Albrek,
My spies in Neverwinter tell me that strangers are due to arrive in Phandalin. They could be working for the dwarves. Capture them if you can, kill them if you must, but don't allow them to upset our plans. See that any dwarven maps in their possession are delivered to me with haste. I'm counting on you Iarno. Don't disappoint me.
In the turned over chest, you find:
180 sp, 130 gp
Silk pouch containing:
five carnelians (10 gp each)
two peridots (15 gp each)
one pearl (100 gp)
Droop is still cowering in the laboratory when you return. When you ask him about any other secrets, he starts wailing and sniveling because he doesn't have any more secrets to give. He pitifully begs you to not torture or kill him.
You all spend the next 8 hours resting. (You can reset your HP, skills, spell slots, etc...)
Are you guys doing anything else before returning to town?
To droop: did he come from cragmaw with the bugbears? Or from the cave. What's the relationship of the goblins in this. Why was he beaten when they have human children to toy with?
Galstaff or Blackstaff. I'm getting confused with his name...
Leek is no hero and has no regrets for killing him. I actually see it as a good action, as his brand of evil upsets the natural balance of the earth.
Soooooo if my calculations are correct, we get the equivalent of 273 gold. We are 5, so 54 gold and 6 silver each?
I reassure Droop that we have no intentions of torturing him. If he serves us well and tries his best to please us, he will be well taken care of. We reward his efforts and will not punish his failures, unless he betrays us.
I MAUL THE ****ER!!!!!
Okay, maybe not. I'm going to ready my action so if he makes the slightest misstep he is going to get a bite to the neck.
WE NEED TO
1. STRIP HIM NAKED AND TIE HIM UP. (No magical components or hand gestures so only possibly verbal spells).
2. Question him.
3. Put something in his mouth after the questioning, so he can't cast spells with the verbal component.
4. Maybe kill him once his usefulness has expired.
Rindelk grabs the staff for one.
"Meddling fools we may very well be, but you fine wizard are the one that is about to be shackled. Now, tell us what you know anything regarding the Black Spider, the Cragmaw, Iarno Albrek, or anything else you may know!"
Elila hog ties him.
Capturing Blackstaff grants everyone 80 xp.

Do Leek and Kat leave their animal forms?
KittyKat becomes Kat :)

Ok, well I don't understand why I have 3 cantrips on Leek. Does my wisdom modifier of +2 affect the amount of spells and cantrips?
Your Natural Illusionist cantrip comes from being a Forest Gnome and doesn't count towards your cantrip count.
Your wisdom modifier only affects how many spells you can memorize.
ok. Do I get more memorized spells for level 3?

I want to execute glasstaff..
I don't trust him. Nor like him.. pompus prick.
Then I want to return to the bedroom and loot. Together with the hostages we take rest overnight, then walk back to town.
Leek.. droop has taken a liking to you.. perhaps with the threat gone he has more to offer?
I have no problems with killing him. Direwolf Leek will aid in mauling him if need be.

To droop: did he come from cragmaw with the bugbears? Or from the cave. What's the relationship of the goblins in this. Why was he beaten when they have human children to toy with?
Droop is orphan, belongs to no goblin clans. Prisoners more valuable than Droop. Bugbears bully anyone they can.
Trying very hard not to meta my action off ' goblin slayer'.

Apparently I'm getting confused too. Glasstaff/Blackstaff... same difference.
