Elmar shrugs his shoulders, "They've only showed up a couple months ago. They do seem to be organized though. They harass people and businesses. They demanded I pay them for their protection services. The townmaster doesn't have any kind of constabulary forces, so he's in a bind... even if he wasn't such a coward to begin with. They've been in everyone's faces, so you can ask around for more information."
The gang seems pretty entrenched. They will still be here in a week or so. Gundren and the goblins may not. If people really want to deal with this lot I'm sure we could do it after we clear every ounce of Cragmaw of goblin filth.
we've given a day to the goblin track will be that much harder to follow, but we can't travel back tonight, let us go to the inn and take rest and conversation. we may find a strong shield for our cause and information to assist. plus the matter of payment owed. at first light we can see any further supply at the lionshield before heading out.
Elmar nods and says, "Yes, heading to the Stonehill Inn is about all you can do at this time of evening, unless you want to go sleep in a barn or out in the wilderness. Toblen Stonehill owns the Inn. Say 'hello' to him for me." Elmar proceeds to lock up his shop and rounds the corner from where he came, heading home, you presume.
The group heads further into town. In the center of town stands a large, newly built roadhouse of fieldstone and rough-hewn timbers. The common room is filled with locals nursing mugs of ale or cider, all of them eyeing you with curiosity. There are 8 patrons in the bar, including an incredibly tall woman in chainmail who is speaking with Sildar. There is who you presume to be Toblen Stonehill behind a counter, a human male.
After a pause, the patrons begin conversing once again.
OOC: If you want to eavesdrop on conversations, roll a Perception, or you know, go talk to the locals. You can talk to the owner to rent rooms.
OOC: With an 18 perception, you overhear bits and pieces and get the following:
An old man, that you hear people calling Narth was talking about a Sister that left town for a few days, and came back wounded.
Elsa the barmaid says that Daran was an adventurer too.
You hear about Orcs on the east end of the Triboar Trail from a man called Lanar.
But most of the conversation is about Thel, who stood up to the Redbrands and was murdered. Now Thel's wife and kids are missing too.
Sildar smiles at Kitryn's approach and says, "I have not forgotten, and I said I was good for it. Here, 50 gold as promised." Sildar drops a purse that clinks nicely on the table in Kitryn's direction. Then continuing, "This here is Elila and she's been asking me about Redbrands, although I know nothing about them. I just arrived today and have not run into them at all." That last bit was probably meant more for Elila than Kitryn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Leek will walk up to Sildar and sau "Where's are money?" When he motions to Kitryn I will ask her "Where's my cut?" When she gives it to me, I won't say thanks. I'll just order a drink, pay and go sit in the corner. I want to use perception to look in people's eyes while I'm in the corner to "see" the evil.
Leek takes his 10 gold share from Sildar's purse, orders a drink and sits by himself in a corner, glaring at everyone.
OOC: Leek, you don't find what you're looking for among the people here. A mug of ale costs 4 copper. Also, you can edit your own posts, if you make early monday typos.
Rindelk, you bury your nose in your journal, furiously writing every tidbit you can hear. On top of what Kitryn already knows, you learn:
Narth is an old farmer. The sister he talks about is Sister Garaele, who oversees the Shrine of Luck.
Lanar is a miner. The townmaster wants the Orcs Lanar is talking about run off. (Must be some bounty)
Trilena is the innkeeper's wife. She's very worried about Threl Dendrar's wife and children, after Threl was murdered by the Redbrands. Threl was a woodcarver here in Phandalin.
Pip, the son of the Innkeeper Toblen says, "Qelline Alderleaf's son Carp found a secret tunnel in the woods. He tried to investigate but he was almost caught by the Redbrands.
Freda, a weaver, wonders how Halia Thornton, who runs the Phandalin Miner's Exchange scares the Redbrands enough that they don't bother her when they bother everyone else.
The Redbrands frequent an Inn called the 'Sleeping Giant tap house' at the east end of town.
to Elila "i do not see you a local, since the shopkeep has said there is no guard about. you seem fit and well armed yet you are not under hire by this man either it seems, what is your story here? a simple sword seeking work or one who is on a particular errand in respect to the local brigands?"
ooc: has Erin left already?
i want Rindelk's HAXOR dice rolling mod!!
i am claiming the potion of healing to my inventory as not one of you has said a lick about holding on to it!!

I want to ask Elmar before we rest if there is anything else he can tell us about this gang.
Elmar shrugs his shoulders, "They've only showed up a couple months ago. They do seem to be organized though. They harass people and businesses. OOC: How much gold are we all getting finally so I can update my sheet? :)
Leek speaks up:
"This gang is none of our concern. Honestly, neither is Gundren. But there is an enclave of goblins to destroy. My vote is to bleed them dry."
OOC - We could hit the merchants and gather supplies. I'm curious about this gang but not attached to going down that storyline.
The gang seems pretty entrenched. They will still be here in a week or so. Gundren and the goblins may not. If people really want to deal with this lot I'm sure we could do it after we clear every ounce of Cragmaw of goblin filth.
I will follow your leads. I have no preference either way.
