(Not sure about the cheat comment.?. The character I was given had 45 gold I believe. I gave 3 to the bar tender. He gave me 1.5 back. So 43.5 left. I gave him 10 for laundry service and armor repair plus some one to run it to where or who it needed to go to and asked him to give me the change or tell me what I owe. So 33.5 unless I hear otherwise about change or charge. I read you could sell for half without a roll so 12.5 for the crossbow, yeah. And 20 bolts for a gold, so .5 to sell I only have 18 so I guessed .4. I was asking if there was 2 scimitar for sale at 25 a piece and a spear at 1, not knowing what was available in town or what prices ran for. If there is some kind of problem or miscommunication I would like to know what it is.)
Katerielle will purchase 1 scimitar and 1 spear for 26 gp.
I was not accusing you of cheating. I was just saying, to anyone, that I don't micro manage gold, or items for that matter. If anyone abuses that and cheats with purchases and coin, it's their loss.
Toblen will give you 9 gold back for laundry services. Only costs 1g.

(Happy 2020 to everyone. Some with cushy jobs may still be on vacation, but I'm looking to get started with this module again starting today.)
Having returned to Phandalin with only a map after failing to rescue Gundren, here are your obvious options:
Travel to the map destination to find this Wave Echo Cave and figure out what the fuss is all about. Possibly rescue Gundren's two brothers.
While previously in Phandalin, there was a lot of gossip about Sister Garaele, a cleric of Tymora who had returned from a brief trip wounded and exhausted.
While previously in Phandalin, there was talk of an old adventurer who is willing to fund an expedition to a site recently rumored to be producing undead.
The townmaster's hall has a board with one notice on it: REWARD - Orcs near Wyvern Tor!
The party also knows that the druid Reidoth is in Thundretree trying to keep people away while doing something about all those crazy plant things.
Note: the player that had briefly joined as the monk prisoner, decided PBP wasn't for him. Once returned to Phandalin, the monk restocked his provisions, bid farewell to his brief travelling companions and made his way to who knows where.
It is Katerielle's intention to ask around town about the two missing dwarven brothers and their claim, continuing her story that the group lost both Gundren and the map to a drow elf, before leaving with some provisions, of the type the brothers normally supplied themselves with from the supply merchant who mentioned they were over due when we first came to Phandalin, to follow the map.
She is willing to here other options but believes time is running out for the brothers if not already too late.
No one in Phandalin knows more about the dwarven brothers than what Sildar has already told you.
The provisions the brothers purchased are strictly for mining: tools like picks, shovels, hammers, rope, pitons, axes, dried meats, nuts, crates of fruit, etc...
(And OOC: Since this is a starter module, there is no race. The options you are given are not time sensitive. They will not disappear because you do one instead of the other.)
(( ooc: I updated Kitryns sheet with the diamond and rapier, and took out the shortswords as well as the remaining coin needed to purchase the stuff.))
Kitryn would be interested in finding out about the undead but not opposed to any of the other options as well
"So.. we heard about these undead last time we were here.. should we persue that or do you think we should head to this cave in search of the dwarves brothers?" she says to the party as they gather about after a few days relaxing and gathering information in town.
"I think we search the wilderness for the dwarven brothers of Gundren. Both to let them know of their brother's fate and to make sure they are ok." Katerielle looks over at the other members of the group. "Undead might be tough for us, unless someone is specialized in dealing with them? I think we should get some more time in working as a team before we try that. Maybe find out what happened to the priestess or the druid after the brothers?"
The party sets out from Phandalin early one morning after eating a good breakfast and stocking up. Droop leads a train of three mules laden with supplies among the party. The drawn landmarks on the map provide an excellent set of way points which leads the party to the opening of a fissure in the mountain. Elsewhere there are mountains worth of rubble strewn about, remnants of old landslides.
The entrance to the cave is not what one would expect from such a fabled place as Wave Echo Cave. It appears this entrance has recently opened up by some natural phenomenon and must lead to the remnants of the old mines. The party pickets the mules, loads up on the most important supplies, and enter.
As you travel through this shaft, the party hears a rhythmic thunder of pounding waves echoing throughout. Some can even feel the stone beneath their feet shiver with the booms.
The entrance tunnel leads into a large cavern supported by a natural pillar of rock and containing three stalagmites. In the western part of the cave, behind the column of rock, are three bedrolls and a heap of ordinary supplies — sacks of flour, bags of salt, casks of salted meat, lanterns, flasks of lamp oil, pickaxes, shovels, and other gear. Amid the supplies, you see the body of a dwarf miner, dead for at least a week.
The northeastern section of the cavern has collapsed, forming a ten-foot-wide, twenty-foot-deep pit. A sturdy hemp rope is tied off around a nearby stalagmite and dangles down the side of the pit.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kitryn goes over to the dead miner and checks him out. Looking for any papers or identification. (( Is he dwarven?)). "Ill check this one" She says as she pilfers through his things.
The miner is a dwarf with nothing resembling identification. He does bear a passing resemblance to Gundren, but as a non-dwarf, every dwarf could look alike. What this dwarf does have of note is a quality pair of boots that look much finer than the rest of his garb.
The dwarf himself looks to have been burnt by some kind of acid or flame, and stabbed several times. He died violently.
For 2 scimitars and a spear, you would owe 51gp.

Whatever value diamond lets me cast chromatic orb.
Phandelver is a mining town, so sure. A diamond adequate to cast Chromatic Orb would cost 50g.

Am I wrong in believing that the brothers were already at the cave?
Regardless, Leek will follow the group.
