As you finish up your rest, the Order of the Silver Bell come through. They spot your wounds and obviously assume a battle took place, and thank you for clearing the way once again. Graelor grumbles that 'If we had known, we could have helped, but Gruldrop insisted on making a mural...' To this, Gruldropretorts with 'I've been in the same place for 30 years and you expect me not to make my mark? Besides, these paints are worth using!' He presents a little rack of eight pastel paint pots, one for each colour of the rainbow, and black, along with a long and bushy paintbrush that looks sort of like a fox tail. You also notice that the pots have sylvan designs on them, each showing little colourful fey. Blueyexplains 'We found them in one of Lisa's side drawers in her room when we ransacked the place, they seem to never run out! There was a whole host of other trinkets and things too, but we didn't end up taking too many, that woman seemed to have centuries worth of stuff hoarded in those cupboards, and future parties could use them instead!'Gruldropmoves the conversation on to the matter at hand by saying 'It's only fair that you go first through the Shadow Weave, of course. We'll be coming through behind you in short succession, but for now we've decided on painting tips and guidance on the walls of the dungeons for future adventurers, so will be much slower than you. Go on ahead without us, though it may be a long time before we meet again...'
[When I get confirmation that somebody (or all of you) pass through the Shadow Weave, I'll post the intro to Dungeon 8!]
[Alright it's been about a day since the last post so I'm just gonna move ahead if that's alright with you guys!]
You all bid your goodbyes to the Order of The Silver Bell, for what might be the last time in a long time, and then go together to step through the portal. As you feel the cold weight of the shadows surround you and pull you in, the spirits of fallen adventurers whisper to you with the secrets pf the last dungeon that had been lost to the sands of time, and the truths of what lies ahead in the next, just before you arrive, like waking from a dream, in the eighth dungeon.
Soron's Coastal Cabin
Lore Lost:
Before Leri had his roost, he was a lord in the Elemental Plane of Air under Karistride. He greatly angered his djinni master when he broke away to form his own kingdom, and so Karistride, as the Duke of Puzzles and Japes, devised a challenge to see if Leri was still loyal to him. With the help of an earth elemental, Karistride placed a precious Elemental Gem of Air into the mountain that Leri inhabited, to see what would happen when it was unearthed. The gem was found by an Aarakocran miner, who brought it to Leri, since it stood out from the emeralds they were used to mining. However, Leri had not a care for this unusual and precious gem, simply instructing for it to 'be tossed in the pit with the others'. This enraged Karistride even more, and proved that Leri had fully gone against his Auran heritage and needed to be punished. So, an Invisible Stalker was sent into the Roost, with Leri as its quarry. Leri was constantly attacked by this beast but never could identify the cause, and due to the invisible nature of the Elemental, his demise was simply put down to be because of a magical illness. However, the Stalker continued its hunt after fufilling it's original purpose, which soon became warped, leading it to kill any creature that even resembled Leri, such as the other Aarakocra in the Roost, or anybody who donned Leri's armour. Finally, when the Roost was fully abandoned after such an unexplained tragedy, Karistride relocated there to establish it as his base in the Material Plane, but before he could assert his dominance over the Roost, the dungeon was ensnared into the Shadow Weave, forever trapping Karistride, his precious gem, and the Stalker within...

Across the land of Tyraa, no other adventuring party is as famous as the Brightblade party, who journeyed across the realm many moons before the 100 Dungeons were even conceived, and reached the highest echelon of adventuring prowess. Once the party had solidified themselves as rich, famous and powerful, each of the heroes settled down to enjoy the rest of their natural lives, and one of these famous Brightblade heroes was Soron, the Bugbear Barbarian, who hailed from the Feywild and devastated enemies with his wild, magical rages. He ended up building a cabin on the coast, all by himself using only his axe, and then spent many long, lazy summers relaxing there with his close friends and party members until his eventual passing. The cabin is now part of the Shadow Weave network, and although it's small, it's still a huge part of Tyraan adventuring history because of how it's a surviving relic from a bygone generation of some of the greatest heroes, thus deserving its place amongst the ranks of the Blood Archivist's 100 Dungeons.
You arrive in a small room that resembles a foyer and is entirely made of logs, just stacked up on top of one another and secured. You can hear seagulls calling above, and the sound of the waves crashing nearby, along with being able to spot the sand of the beach between the cracks of the logs. This peaceful beachside illusion is quickly shattered however, as just inches from your feet is a body. It's a dwarf on his side, wearing clothes that you would describe only as pirate-like, with a bandana, peg-leg and eyepatch to complete the look. You're concerned at first, as you think he's dead, but he then gives a snore and rolls over to reveal a bottle of grog tucked beneath his other arm, showing that he's only fast asleep, and probably fairly drunk too. The room has two exits; a sturdy looking wooden door to the west, boasting a large keyhole, and a passage through to the west.
Bilyur grabs the dwarf and shakes the dwarf until it wakes up. When he wakes up, Bilyur will speak in dwarvish, saying "Morning friend! What brings you here?"
The dwarf awakes with a start and goes 'Eh? What? Ah, my head!' He leans forward and grasps at his forehead with a meaty palm, before rubbing his temples and grumbling. It's quiet the achievement for a species with such hardy constitutions like dwarves to get hung over, so he's clearly been drinking very, very heavily. After a moment to gather himself slightly, the dwarf retorts to Bilyur's question with 'We're here for the bloody dungeons of course, same as everyone else! What, you think we're 'ere just for a laugh?' Seeing as the dwarf looks like he's just gotten back from a costume party, and also judging from his intoxication levels, you're not quite sure how to answer that question, if at all.
The dwarf awakes with a start and goes 'Eh? What? Ah, my head!' He leans forward and grasps at his forehead with a meaty palm, before rubbing his temples and grumbling. Seeing as the dwarf looks like he's just gotten back from a costume party, and also judging from his intoxication levels, you're not quite sure how to answer that question, if at all.
The dwarf gives a hearty laugh and says 'Of course I do! Can't you see I'm a pirate? You've got a party don't ya? Well, the rest of me crew is scattered around this place!' He then pauses and specifies 'Well, they ain't my crew, because I ain't the cap'n of course, but you get what I mean!'
Sly arrives after Bilyur and leaves the talking to him, finishing tying a bandage along her arm. The warm air here was a welcome change of pace. She'll busy herself with ritually casting detect magic as the others trickle in, in preparation for further exploration.
Xarkris enters the room and scans the area. When he notices Bilyur talking to a Dwarf, Xarkris stomps menacingly towards the unfamiliar presence and leans in so he is face to face with Dwarf and hisses, "Who is thisssss"?
Sly casts detect magic but doesn't identify anything arcane quite yet. Meanwhile, Xarkris approaches the dwarf with a menacing aura, to which the pirate shrinks back and squeals 'I'm Morgot, of the Pipsqueak Pirates sir! I'm the crew's carpenter and shipwright; back out on the open seas I was the one to tend to the ship, but now we're here I mainly just focus on combat!'
As this happens, Eggo Lass takes a look down the hall. The next room looks pretty much empty, aside from another short pirate body laying flat on the floorboards. You assume it's likely that they've also just passed out drunk, but can't be 100% certain.
Sly addresses the dwarf as well, sprinkling in some dwarvish terms herself, just because she can, and also to seem less threatening.
"My good man, how many members of the Pipsqueak Pirates have entered this dungeon? It is a virtual certainty that we shall be running into some of them. Do you think any of them have cause to wish us ill?"
((Salamander spends all 4 hit dice for 11 HP of healing during the short rest to be at 12/23 HP ))
Salamander attempts to muster up the strength to get up, and even after the short rest, he finds himself a bit out of it. He barely remembered trudging towards the portal. He blanked out at the last end of the battle. Now, hardly even registering that Guldrop and Bluey were there, it wasn't until the sight of the fox-brush makes the fur on the end of his tail stand up.
"At Lisa's?" He blinks. Then he finds himself on the other side of the portal. He flexes his fingers and takes a breathe of the salty air. Now they're at some sort of beach-y cabin. Oh nice. Not swampy but watery enough for his liking.'Wait Karistride?'The gears in his head switch on slowly. Fearing that he might start saying things like 'Have a good day, sir' and 'What great weather we're having', he quickly tries to snap out of it, splashing water onto his face from his waterskin.
He stands there, watching the others (sometimes quite literally) prod at the dwarf. He chortles a little at Bilyur's bluntness and at Xarkris's menace. At hearing there might be more, Salamander slips off and attempts to use his stealth to go check up on the other dwarf, staying close to the doorway that connect this room and the pirate's.
Morgot thinks for a second and then replies to Sly saying 'Hmm. There's about 7 of us, give or take. Me and two others came out here a while back to grab some more supplies, but we..urrr...fell asleep before that happened.' Salamander then slinks up the hall into the next room, where the pirate body is. He sees that there's another two branching pathways inside, and also realises that he probably didn't need to sneak in after all; the rock gnome pirate on the floor is completely unmoving, out cold. You can also see that a satchel filled with books is strewn across the ground next to him, including a Ship's Log and what appears to be some sort of spellbook, a heavy, stained and pungent book with fittings up the side made of all different types of metal.
Xarkris leaves the rest of the party with Morgot to follow Salamander, but when he enters the room, he immediately notices something horribly wrong. Rather than just being passed out drunk, the gnome pirate on the floor has two large puncture marks on his neck, and is clearly dead...however, the rest of the room is empty, and even with his keen eye he doesn't spot any evidence of the attacker, or even any other unseen details at all in this room.
Sly notes the information from Morgot and then moves over to Salamander and Xarkris. She eyes the spellbook on the floor with interest, picking it up with her spectral hand and inspecting it for any lingering magic or other tampering [Investigation: 25].
If she deems it safe, she'll leaf through it to see what it contains.
Sly follows Xarkris, leaving Morgot babbling away with Bilyur and Eggo, and then picks up the spellbook once she spots it (with little notice or care for the dead previous owner right next to it lol) and gives it a thorough look. Quite quickly she realises that this isn't any spellbook; it's an Alchemical Compendium! She recalls that there is a brand of special spellbooks that were manufactured by arcane vendors or created by mages, each with different spells and powers within dedicated to a separate school of magic each, and this particular one is dedicated to the Transmutation school of magic, which is an incredibly lucky find, especially for a transmuter such as herself, since these spellbooks are rare to come by as loot, and absurdly expensive to buy on the market.
Leafing through eagerly, she finds that the book contains the spells enlarge/reduce, feather fall, flesh to stone, gaseous form, magic weapon and polymorph, and can function as a spellbook for her if she chooses. It can also act as the spellcasting focus for her spells whilst she holds it, and finally, she detects three strong charges of magic contained between the pages of the book, soon finding the short passage near the front of the tome on how to harness them.
Details on the book's charges:
The book has 3 charges, and it regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn. You can use the charges in the following ways while holding it:
If you spend 1 minute studying the book, you can expend 1 charge to replace one of your prepared wizard spells with a different spell in the book. The new spell must be of the transmutation school.
As an action, you can touch a nonmagical object that isn't being worn or carried and spend a number of charges to transform the target into another object. For 1 charge, the object can be no larger than 1 foot on a side. You can spend additional charges to increase the maximum dimensions by 2 feet per charge. The new object must have a gold value equal to or less than the original.
"You fell asleep? You can't have been drunk, dwarves don't get that drunk. Something is afoot here." Bilyur moves to the other dwarf, goes to wake him up, sees the wounds, and stands up. "Something is afoot."
OOC: is it realistic that Bilyur knows what a Vampire is?
Eggo Lass spends 2 hit dice.
Hit Dice: 2+6+(3*2) = 14 hit points regained. 20 -> 34
"Onwards!" she emotes, ready when the others are to continue through the weave.
