The attack lands perfectly and slices the creatures neck cleanly. It gives a cry and rears up on its hind legs before falling backwards, dead. The vines that cover the walls and ceiling remain however, so now that you're out of initiative, what would you like to do? Just as a refresher, there's a door to the east that caused the vine growth when the handle was turned and a door to the west that has not been investigated.
[In future I think I'm going to give some more consideration to how I run combats. Would you guys be okay if the turn order was just groupings rather than an individual initiative (so there would be the enemies turns, then the parties turns in any order and visa versa)? It would speed up the process of combat a lot since it means that you can take your turn whenever you are free rather than waiting around or it being your go whilst you're busy, and it cuts out the long process of gathering peoples initiative. Hopefully with that system in place I won't have to bot players as often as they can play on their schedule. What do you all think? :) ]
[OoC: Groups is a good idea imo. It's how I personally do it in my campaigns.] [OoC 2: Is the east door unapproachable/closed now with the vines?]
Sly shakes our her hand, getting rid of the prickly sensation that crept in there whenever she invoked necromantic energies. "It seems Evaltrini was no stranger to devising nasty surprises."
Moving daintily around the puddle of goat blood on the floor, the tiefling approaches the west door, keeping a 10 foot distance just in case. She tries to sense any more druidic magic with detect magic.
[Awesome, glad to hear you're happy with the group idea. The eastern door is covered in vines, but you can just hack them away with a sword to clear the doorway again]
Sly casts Detect Magic on the western door, and discovers no magical aura on the inner handle or door itself, but senses an aura of Transmutation magic on the doorknob on the other side of the door, in the room you have not entered. You also work out from the lack of magical aura that the vines covering the walls, and the walls themselves are entirely ordinary.
Sly will inform the others without making a move towards the door herself.
"It seems the magic causing the vines to grow is gone. They are just normal vines now. The other door is a bit of a mystery. I think it may well trigger another trap. We could try opening it from a distance and take cover."
Sly raises her hand and makes a slashing motion. From the blur, a second, ghostly hand disjoints itself from the tiefling: a mage hand. "I offer to open it myself."
Your mage hand tentatively opens the door as you stand from a distance. The mage hand turns the knob of the door just like the door that spawned the vines, however there is no magical consequence. Instead the door creaks open to reveal moodily lit room. You can't really see much from the distance you are standing from, those without darkvision can't see anything and those with darkvision can see what looks like some sort of study through the distant door.
"How strange" says Eggo Lass of the study. "It certainly bears investigation."
But before heading there she takes out her daggers, "Magically delicious?" she wonders of the goat. "This is the place of a druid. I wonder if there's any good spices in this dungeon." She eyes the study with a smile, "Looks homely. Might be a hearth somewhere."
Eggo Lass gathers as much goat meat as they can off the beast before entering the dimly lit study. It is 25 feet long and 15 feet wide, with a discreet door to the west and another door to the east (which you entered from). What strikes you as curious however is the fact that the study seems to have no ceiling, or in other terms, it appears to be infinitely tall. A grand bookshelf that seems to stretch upwards forever and ever spans the entire northern wall, filled with tomes and various houseplants, with large ladders scattered around to reach the impossibly high shelves. The southern wall has a fireplace, as expected by Eggo Lass, with a great roaring fire, and although it doesn't provide much light, it provides cosy heating to the whole room. There are all sorts of furnishings scattered, from large sofas covered in decadent pillows, to majestic arm chairs with backs 7 feet tall. It appears to you all that this must be Evaltrini's main lounging area and study, serving a similar sort of purpose to the room in which you first entered this dungeon, but far more decadent and well-maintained. Looking around the room you can see no dust on shelves, no stolen objects or destroyed furniture. Everything seems to suggest that unlike the rest of the dungeon, this room is often frequented and looked after meticulously, proven by the burning fire that only seems to have been lit mere hours ago.
Bilyur steps back from the goat, looking down on the slain beast with sad eyes. "I wish the world's creatures were not enslaved to such evil designs, but I do not think that life would be better than death for such a creature." Shaking himself, the gnome opens his eyes wide, and makes a peculiar gesture, crossing his arms and touching his shoulders with his thumbs, before stepping back and walking over to the eastern door.
Shiverquill,
Bilyur is using the gesture to signal to his monastery's god to accept the goat's spirit, you can decide if you want anything to come of that.
Sly investigates the door handle on the inside of the eastern door, where you first detected the Transmutation magic from. It looks identical to the handle that activated the plant growth trap, so would most likely activate the Transmutation magic it holds when turned or used to try and open the door.
Rhino:
Bilyur probably wouldn't gain anything from this one specific interaction however if you repeated the process for each monster you found in future dungeons for a week or so, I could see it functioning like the Sacred Rites optional rule in the DMG (Page 129), so you would get inspiration at the end of each week where you prayed for monster souls daily
Sly points to the handle on the inner side of the door to the study. "Best to not touch that handle. I have reason to believe that it will lead to another bramble eruption."
Having satisifed her need for self-preservation, the tiefling enters the room proper, looking up and down the eternal bookcase. Highly intrigued by the verticality of the library, she studies it for a few minutes, making notes for later reference. The wizard will also glance at the titles on offer, just to confirm that they're all about botany and don't conceal any wizardly works [Investigation 18].
Sly analyses the bookcase and finds something highly curious. After about 30 feet of shelving, the bookcase seems to repeat itself in the same pattern, proven by the identical plants and book arrangements on the completely different shelves however you're not entirely confident its an illusion, rather some advanced duplication magic at play. Looking at the books is even more bizarre. Each and every one has a plain cover and spine in various shades of green and turquoise, with no writing at all to denote what the contents is inside, making you think that they might be purely decorative, though one book sticks out like a sore thumb. On the fifth shelf a black wicker binder is tucked between the tomes, and it seems to contain a compilation of parchment, possibly letters or even a spellbook. You also spot that this one binder is the only object not duplicated on the infinite shelves; it is one of a kind.
"Would be a great shame to leave you here.", Sly mumbles to herself. Using mage hand, she fingers for the book, trying to tug it out and bring it slowly down. In that moment, the wizards usual caution is thrown to the wind, the promise of knowledge being irresistible.
The book is pulled from the shelf and brought over to you by your mage hand without an issue. You open it excitedly in the hopes of magical knowledge, to find a letter, many letters in fact, that seem to be tracking the correspondence between Evaltrini and another person. The handwriting on the initial page is thin and spidery, not unlike the calligraphy of the glyphs you saw on the chest in the Fire Savant's tomb, and is written in a scarlet ink. It reads:
Dearest Evaltrini,
This letter is written to you with a proposition, an invitation if you will. I am forming an interactive exhibit of all the great dungeons across the land of Tyraa. You have caught my eye with you exceptional work in the field of magical botany and I am wanting to grant you the delightful pleasure of incorporating your abode into my archives. The lair will be connected to other dungeons across the land through means of an advanced Shadow Weave, which will be installed free of charge. The only snag is that your home may experience foot traffic from the 'visitors' of my great museum. This is to be expected of as part of the agreement and non-negotiable, though I'm sure you'll be glad to hear that the adventurers will be eliminated sooner or later during the experience I have curated. You have one week to agree willingly, and if you do not respond or dare to deny my orders, you will have to consent in a more forced environment. I am waiting your reply with much eagerness, and I do recommend you fortify your lair against Scrying sensors if you do not want more people to become aware of your location.
After getting over her disappointment that it isn't a spell book and scrutinizing the letters, Sly summarizes the contents for the others. "Well, it seems like our old friend the Archivist was used to getting his way and toyed with others under a thin veneer of politeness. I hazard the conjecture that Evaltrini may still be alive, perhaps hiding from us. If so, she isn't going to take kindly to us killing her goat."
Although Sly was already wondering why the goat hadn't been dead already from encountering other adventurers. And perhaps the book was placed here on purpose too. These all being vague theories, she keeps them for herself for now.
"Anything else you want to do here?" she asks the others.
Eggo Lass frowns at the fire. So perfect for cooking yet an indicator of danger. She eyes the fresh chevon steaks and thinks to herself, Later, my delicacies. After Sly reads the letter she says, "If this druid is still around, odds are we don't want to meet her in a fight unless we're able to get an element of surprise. Perhaps by laying a trap on one of the chairs?" She hesitates, "Although that may only anger her to be more determined, the delicious goat aside." She readies her crossbow as Bilyur presses on.
This room is 25 feet by 25 feet, same as the room you found the goat, except this room is filled to the brim with plant pots of all different sizes. Some are barely the size of a thimble whilst others are more like cauldrons, and the room is so filled with them that despite the fact the room's floor has an area of 625 feet squared, only 175 feet squared of it is actually accessible as everything to the north of the room (so on the righthand side of the doorway you came through) is filled with pottery cluttery and all but a 10 feet by 5 feet passage that leads to another door heading south is filled on the southern side, leaving a 25 feet by 5 feet passage leading straight down the middle from where you came through the door. This passage, walled in by all the pots, leads to what appears to be a ramshackle pillow fort like structure, or 'pot fort' if you will, built into the wall directly parallel to the door you came through, and as you enter the room, you spot a small humanoid dart into the gloom of the den away from you.
[Sorry that there's a lot of maths and details in this post. The TL:DR of it is that there's a door to the south and an entrance to a humanoid's den to the west, with the rest of the room being filled with pots]
[[ Out of curiosity, since as you mentioned there's various specifics, would it be possible to have basic maps? Not thinking of anything fancy, just simple grid/tile. But I'm not sure if that's feasible on your end. ]]

Sly finds this new room very interesting but also highly supicious. She looks for the source of transmutation magic she felt before.
"Curious that this room is well kept. Either it is the source of some magic or there are still creatures about. In either case, caution is warranted."
