OoC: Would you guys rather I tell Rin's story with the group so that you don't have to play the other characters like you don't know it? We could all got to the Coster or just hang out in the tavern a little longer.
OoC: If DM doesn't have a preference I don't mind splitting the group shortly for small things like this. When we meet up we can assume the PCs catch up on what everyone has done.
As Rin and Leo walk to the Coster, Rin says, "Lliira is the goddess of joy and the patron of the temple where I live in Silverymoon. I was taken in by a priest there who showed me the ways of joy, and also the ways of work. I do not know who my parents are or how I got to Silverymoon, I was very young when I was found and there are not many like me here. I was very happy to learn and had many questions. It seemed that, the more questions I asked, the more the temple elders would send me on trips to find things. I was always good at finding things."
He pauses and pulls an amulet from beneath his collar, a triple star pendant arranged in a triangle, "Like this, I found this while wondering the halls of the temple, is it the sign of Lliira, she had surely left it for me to find in that dresser drawer!"
He tucks it back in and continues, "I would go on trips to delve into dangerous places to find things for my temple elders. They always seemed to like what I found, but always seemed to have more things they wanted me to look for. I did not mind. That is why I wondering into the cave where I found you earlier. Lliira is always putting interesting things in my path. What about you, my tall friend, you are different too, where are you from?"
Walking through the streets at dusk, both groups notice some pockets of (mostly) young men wearing red cloaks loitering about. They have an air of over-confidence about them and eye you with suspicion. They are clearly cautious however, trying to determine what kind of a threat you pose -- they don't appear interested in a difficult fight. Thew few townsfolk who are outside nod hello, happy, possibly even hopeful, to see a competent group of adventurers in town, but not wanting to draw attention to themselves.
As Anton, Ordin, and Delta approach Halia Thornton's house, they pass the miner's guild, which appears to be in pristine shape and none of the red cloaked ruffians seem to be in this part of the town. The door to Halia's house opens, and a fit, muscular female human greets you:
"Come in, come in. I heard of your arrival in town, and we have things to discuss. Do not fear -- the Redbrands leave me alone"
Delta seems taken aback at first, but responds, “Has everyone heard about us? We haven’t even been in town for long,” seeming visibly uncomfortable with the attention.
"Aye, Delta. A lass such as yerself is something for these folk to talk about. Not to mention the other ones." Ordrin steps into the house, his shield catching on the door frame and clattering noisily. He leans his blood stained warhammer against a table and hikes up his belt. "We come to ask you about Gundren but, as we are guests in your home, what would you like to discuss?"
Rin and Pertuie arrive at the costers and encounter a middle aged woman outside locking the door. Seeing them, she says "What de you two want? I already paid my protection fee this month! My last shipment of goods went missing -- I don't have no more to give! "
Rin, seemingly oblivious to this lady's state of mind, exclaims, "Hello, I'm Rin! What is your name? Do you own the Lionshield Coster?"
"You aren't one of those slack jawed ruffians are you? I suppose I haven't seen any cats with red cloaks on. I do own the Coster. How can I help you? I was just locking up for the night."
"Are you talking about the redbrands? We heard about them from Trilena. No, we are not one of them. We came from out of town, looking for a friend. On the way to town we found a cave, not too far, that has all of your supplies in it. I would be happy to draw you a map to show you were it is. There were many goblins and a bugbear, " Rin says, "But they are there no longer" Rin's tail swishes back and forth.

"This will be a huge help! Thank you so much! I might have had to shut down the business without those supplies. Please, take this as a thank you. If you need assistance in town, please let me know" She hands Rin 50 gp, and scratches him under the chin
Delta seems taken aback at first, but responds, “Has everyone heard about us? We haven’t even been in town for long,” seeming visibly uncomfortable with the attention.
"No my dears, not everyone. I make it my business to know things, quickly. The Redbrands don't leave me alone because of my beautiful looks. We might be able to help each other, so I was hoping to meet with you quickly. I was happily surprised to see you at my door. You are the adventuring sort, yes? I tend to have information which your type find useful. I could also use.....your services."
"Oh, thank you very much! Lliira puts the nicest people in my path, you see Leo." Rin turns his attention back to the lady saying, "I do have one thing I would like to ask. I see you are closing, but if you would not mind, I would like to purchase a longsword, if you have one. I can give you this morning star and spear, plus gold. The morning star belonged to the bug bear that had stolen all your things."

DM note: Agree. If ever I threw an encounter at a split group I'd mod it accordingly. I'm cool with short splits
"Good plan," Anton says. "I think while you two talk to the coster, I'll go along with Ordrin to pay this Halia Thornton a visit."

“I guess I’ll go with Anton and Ordin then.”

Ordrin finishes his "meal" and bangs his mug on the table, its lip somehow already caked in chin hair and bits and dark grime from the his mouth.
"Alright, we're a motley folk. Let's go say hello to Phandalin!"
He leads the small group out the door with a "G'day, Toblen!", a bit too loud for the other patrons.
As they head to Thornton's, Ordrin's head is on a swivel, keeping his eye out for curiosities and particularly for other dwarves.
Delta winces at the loud dwarf but follows, looking at the different buildings and people of the town.
Anton takes up the rear, solemnly nodding in greeting to passersby as they proceed through the streets.

Anton stands silently behind Ordrin and Delta, making eye contact with Thornton, a friendly but stoic expression on his face.
