Following the footprints you begin to make several twists and turns throughout the sewer system, going deeper. The further it you get in the darker it gets. The cold sludge that is the refuse of the city pools around your ankles, making disgusting slurping sounds as you pull your feet free from its grasp. Eventually it gets so dark that even with your dark-vision it's hard to see 30 feet in front of you.
Give me a perception roll as you make your way through the sewers.
The guard looks upset that you've abandon him, he follows into tavern and heads off in a different direction to a table in the corner, Olivia thanks you and invites you to enjoy an ale on the house.
After a short amount of time, Fenchurch makes his own way into the tavern.
OOC > I'd like to thank the rest of the party for all the crappy rolling, thus leading to an unearned but envious amount of good rolling for Tangle. #notsuperstitiousbutjustincase
Tangle as you make your way through the tunnels you spot several markings on the walls. Some look to be simple arrows pointing in different directions and others bizarre shapes and symbols.
From your background and teachings you can make it out to be some kind of barbaric form of thieves' cant mixed with some other language you don't know.
The symbols of thieves cant that you can make out are the words: "Safe" "Empty" "Escape" and "Blam"
"Most generous of you Olivia thank you. Say, you haven't heard any rumors of bandits around have you? I've heard word of a large cache of explosives gone missing..."
When she notices Fenchurch enter, "Hey Fen! I'll getcha a beer!" And she offers Olivia payment for Fenny's drink of choice.
Tangle will attempt to continue tracking the people, unless that gets too muddied by the muck, or there are additional tracks covering the ones she is following, or something. If tracking fails her, she will attempt to follow the "Safe" directions, even if they coincide with other directions (incl. Blam). Her thought is that "Safe" might indicate a trap-free path to something of value or a gathering place for the people who use these sewers.
She will continue to try to be stealthy. She does not like all the muck, being more used to skulking in the out of doors.
OOC > She is wishing she had taken a short rest between meeting Dr. Jinn outside the city and now.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Fenchurch asks for a cask of "White Rabbit" ale, a beer brewed in Whitehill; after a day of minimal success, he wants something from home to make him feel a little better.
Tangle following the path you start to notice a pattern, with each "safe" symbol you pass by you see above you that there is another sewer grate. The path doesn't seem to actually lead any where doesn't lead anywhere.
Give me another perception check.

Fen and Barb:
Olivia fetches the drinks and sets them before you. You two enjoy at your own leisure and eventually Wolf Pup makes his way to the tavern.
In following the other trail you would have lost the original set.
Tangle you hear two sets of footsteps echoing from down one of the tunnels to your left, they are quickly approaching your position. You can also hear what sounds like someone talking loudly, but it's in a language you don't know. You have a few seconds before they reach the spot where you are currently standing. What do you want to do?
Tangle will look for a place to hide. If there is no place to hide, she will try to stealthily move away from the voices until there is a place to hide (like a branching tunnel, or a large pile of refuse, or up a ladder—but not out, don't want to attract attention with the light.) Ideally, they will pass by or under her, and she can stealth down/out and follow them. It's really her only play.
If she is not stealthy and they notice her, she will run (move and dash and cunning action dash, so three moves), and then try to hide, as above. Or keep running. If she can't shake them, she will head up a ladder and out.
Sigh. Here are the rolls:
Hiding right away if possible - Stealth: 18 If not possible, then moving quietly away - Stealth: 11 If stealthily moving away, then hiding (side tunnel, trash, or up a ladder) - Stealth: 17 And if they pass her hiding place, then stealthily following - Stealth: 23
If they hear her, maybe running in the tunnels requires a dexterity check? - Acrobatics: 9 Finally another attempt to hide after running - Stealth: 24
I think that's everything? Here goes...

Alright tangle ascends the ladder and hides in the darkness above, near the grate. She holds her breath and waits. The two sets of footsteps continue to approach, reaching the spot beneath the ladder that angle is hanging from. Two small forms appear, stopping for a second to talk.

Phooey, Tangle thinks, but in Sylvan, so it sounds exotic. These are just indicators, not part of a trail.
