Through the gaps between structures, Doozey pinpoints the passing Wizard, tags it with his unparalleled sight, and releases a pre-loaded crossbow bolt. It flies perfectly through a hole in a wall before digging deep into the spell-casting Kobold's gut. It coughs a ball of blood that could have been easily mistaken for an organ (Kobold Wizard takes 15 piercing and lightning damage).
Biscuit follows his orders somewhat reluctantly and stops at {CO10} before biting the nearby Kobold right around its waist. The tundra mastiff moves its head from side to side to maximize damage (Kobold Inventor #2 takes 4 piercing damage).
Neya's attention also turns west. She shoots an arrow at the Kobold being dragged from side to side by Biscuit and hits its throat in an impressive display of accuracy versus a moving target (Kobold Inventor #2 takes 8 piercing damage). Somehow, the Kobold is still alive. The monk's second arrow is not as accurate, hitting a palisade section before reaching its intended target.

The Kobold Wizard tries to enact revenge on Doozey, launching the flame it has been holding directly at the halfling on the roof.
-> Chromatic Orb vs. Doozey: Attack: 27Damage: 15 fire. (That attack roll is supposed to be just an 8... I messed up that modifier big time.)
The Kobold is a lot less accurate than his foe. The magical orb flies toward the sky before it fizzles in the distance. Limping but still magically sped up, the Kobold Wizard then rushes all the way to {CO4}, clearly trying to make its way back to the fishermen's landing.
The creatures of the wood continue to move about the battlefield. By now, they all have a chance to attack:
Two of the creatures gang up on the Kobold facing Utar. One of them punches the Kobold to the ground, ironically forcing it out of the way of the other creature's fist (Kobold Grunt #3 takes 3 bludgeoning damage). The third creature of the wood attacks the Kobold Inventor it hit before, starting to suffocate the creature by forcing some of its malleable flesh down its throat (Kobold Inventor #1 takes 3 bludgeoning damage). They both still stand.
WAVE 2 - THE CAVALRY
A group of eight degenerate fishlike humanoids approaches quickly from the ramp leading to the fisherman's landing. They click and gargle their commands to each other, but eventually look back to an overweight fish-man dressed in moss-green robes. The band leader itself is flanked by two of its kin, both a bit more muscular than the other five. Utar and Graxx would all recognize these as being Kuo-toa, having fought a band of these creatures in the past (Episode 2). Three of the smaller Kuo-toa, carrying spear and nets, advance enough to have a go at some of the palisades:
-> Spear vs. Palisade {CM4}: Attack: 11 Damage: 6 piercing.
-> Spear vs. Palisade {CM4}: Attack: 4 Damage: 2 piercing.
-> Spear vs. Palisade {CK6}: Attack: 18 Damage: 7 piercing.
The palisade section at {CM4} breaks into several splinters, but the one at {CK6} still stands.

What Doozey and Neya know about Kuo-toa is basicallly what Utar and Graxx told them when retelling their early adventures in Phlan: Back when the Tea Kettle was still in business, Utar and a couple of companions had their breakfast interrupted by a fleeing mother who begged for their help in rescuing her family and peat farm hired hands. They were joined by Graxx and two other passing patrons and the request was begrudgingly formalized by the Black Fist. The group traveled east to find a cave hidden in the bog that surrounded the peat farm in question. The cave housed a tribe of Kuo-toa, who had stricken a deal with the local representatives of the Cult of the Dragon to extract any artifacts they found inside and to capture anyone who got too close. The party rescued the innocent, as well as a Zhentarim spy, and learned that the deeper chambers of the cave once served as the lair for a powerful, now dead, black dragon. Back in Phlan, the party negotiated a proper reward from a Black Fist paper-pusher and called it a day.
Doozey additionally knows this:
Kuo-toa are degenerate fishlike humanoids that once inhabited the shores and islands of the surface world. Long ago humans and their ilk drove the Kuo-toa underground, where they dwell in madness and everlasting night. Kuo-toa can no longer abide daylight.
Wheeling his horse, Utar tries to swing at the only Kobold still pestering him from close, but misses. A few feet away, his Spiritual Weapon also whiffs.
Seeing his friend struggle a bit, Graxxbrings his horse closer and finishes the Kobold next to Utar (Kobold Grunt #3 takes 31 magical slashing and radiant damage and is DEFEATED). In doing so, Edith exposes herself to the swarm of Rot Grubs on the ground:
-> Rot Grubs' Bite (opportunity attack) vs Edith: Attack: 11Infested by: 3 grubs. (This attack was supposed to have disadvantage: 8 - nothing changes).
Edith is too quick for the tiny grubs on the ground. Graxx then turns Edith around and comes to Biscuit's aid next. He slashes the Kobold with a quick swipe of his greatsword and the creature lets a wooden cage containing a skunk fall to the ground. It was clearly preparing to throw that cage at someone (Kobold Inventor #2 takes 20 magical slashing damage and is DEFEATED). Graxx continues to advance and finds another Kobold to cut down next to Utar's floating warhammer. Another head rolls on the ground, along with a bag that buzzes like wasps (Kobold Inventor #1 takes 22 magical slashing damage and is DEFEATED).

The green slime continues to corrode away one of the palisade sections that is still standing:
-> Green Slime vs. Palisade {CL10}: Damage: 12 acid.
That piece of palisade stands no more. The patch of green slime now bubbles on the ground, still a hazard to anyone who steps on it.
The bulky Kuo-toa at {CN0} (yellow background) carries a rope and hook on one hand, and a two-pronged spiked staff on the other, but wears little beyond a belt and a loincloth. It raises its staff into the air and calls forth some flames on one of the creatures of the wood:
-> Creature of the Wood #2's DEX saving throw vs. Flame from the Deep:3, Damage: 6 radiant.
The flame licks the creature's back, forcing that patch to bubble away into blackness (Creature of the Wood #2 takes 2 radiant damage).
The other bulky Kuo-toa at {CL0} (red background) flanking the obese one wears a simple tunic and carries no weapons. It advances towards Graxx {CM6} and begins to punch him and his horse:
-> Punch vs. Graxx: Attack: 18 Damage: 10 bludgeoning and lightning.
-> Punch vs. Graxx: Attack: 22Damage: 12 bludgeoning and lightning.
Edith feels the needle-like teeth of the Kuo-toa sink into her haunches (Edith takes 4 piercing damage). Graxx manages to avoid one of the punches, but once the other one hits, he feels a jolt of energy travel through his body (Graxx takes an already appropriately halved but combined 5 bludgeoning and lightning damage).
The overweight Kuo-toa in robes holds a scepter that ends at the bust of a strange humanoid lobster (Utar and Graxx have seen a statue like this before). It gargles a strange word, calling a mucous sheen to envelop its own body (Sanctuary). It then utters a second bubbly word, similarly to its companion a moment ago:
-> Creature of the Wood #2's DEX saving throw vs. Flame from the Deep:7, Damage: 5 radiant.
The rest of the Creature of the Wood at {CK8} bubbles away in flames (Creature of the Wood #2 takes 6 radiant damage and is DEFEATED).
Edit: The attack above against Edith is supposed to be at disadvantage: 9 - nothing changes.
Warsh and Ulburto seem a bit taken aback watching one of the Creatures of the Wood being defeated. They look at each other in hesitation and fail to do anything useful this round.
Whatever remaining Kobolds that were still fighting in the background are now retreating towards the fishermen's landing. Some of them carry villager prisoners with them. The only remaining Kobold that is still somewhat of a threat is the Kobold Wizard at {CO4}, but it too is retreating.

"Guess they are far from done fighting... But neither are we!"
Neya has Garnet close the distance between her and the misshapen fish folk (to CN9), and lets two arrows fly at the creature ahead of her (Kuo-toa at CN3).
Shortbow Attack: 10 Damage: 8
Extra Shortbow Attack: 22 Damage: 7
Seeing the bite marks on Edith's leg makes Garnet more wary of being close to the Kuo-Toa (dodge).
Neya and Garnet advance westward as the monk releases two arrows from her shortbow. The first travels too far past the band of Kuo-toa and lands on a puddle created by the raging storm. The second projectile hits the intended target on the chest, though the creature is still in fighting condition (Kuo-toa Warrior #5 takes 7 piercing damage). Garnet prepares for the worst.
Doozey shares some of his knowledge with Utar and proceeds to put an end to the Kobold threat. The halfling releases a projectile of his own, perforating the back of the Kobold Wizard's head and pinning it to the ground (Kobold Wizard takes 13 piercing and lightning damage and is DEFEATED). As it has now become routine, the hunter immediately proceeds to choose his next target with a deathly glare.
Biscuit follows his commands and pounces on the same fishfolk that has one of Neya's arrow stuck to its chest. The mastiff's fangs sink in deep, but it is still not enough for the enemy to fall (Kuo-toa Warrior #5 takes another 6 piercing damage).
-> Fist vs. Rot Grubs {CM12}: Attack: 12 Damage: 1 bludgeoning. (original attack roll: 8; original damage roll: 3).
They are successful in mushing some of the nasty maggots, but many still remain (Swarm of Rot Grubs takes 3 bludgeoning damage).
The Kuo-toa warriors advance with purpose on the village. Most stop at the first obstacle they see, but one of them makes sure to go for the lady shooting arrows and her horse:
-> Spear vs. Palisade {CK6}: Attack: 15 Damage: 2 piercing. (original attack roll: 15; original damage roll: 2).
-> Spear vs. Palisade {CK6}: Attack: 22 Damage: 5 piercing. (original attack roll: 13; original damage roll: 5).
-> Net vs. Biscuit: Attack: 22 - Biscuit becomes restrained. (original attack roll: 17).
-> Spear vs. Garnet: Attack: 17 Damage: 7 piercing. (original attack roll: 11; original damage roll: 7).
-> Bite vs. Biscuit: Attack: 14 Damage: 3 piercing. (original attack rolls with advantage: 4 and 8).
As a couple of these fish warriors clear the path by destroying another piece of the palisade, two others perform a tactical attack on Biscuit. The first throws a net on the Tundra Mastiff and the second tries to sink its teeth on him, but only snags a bunch of fur. The Kuo-toa that advances the farthest sticks the pointy end of its spear on Garnet's belly (Garnet takes 7 piercing damage).
The storm rages furiously, putting out the fire of a few of the torches around the village.
-> Here's a belated WIS saving throw for Graxx on that punch damage {DC 15}: 15 - the sword tells the barbarian to kill the punchy Kuo-toa in front of him. (original saving throw: 5).
(Graxx and Utar are up next. Recall that the Kuo-toa leader is protected by Sanctuary. You are also fully aware of the two hazards on the battlefield: the green slime at {CL10} and the Rot Grubs at {CM12}).
(OOC: I have no idea what happened here. I got a "manipulation" message as I was typing the bit about the sanctuary spell above. This is super weird because it wasn't even a part of the post with a die roll in it. It changed all the rolls and once I deleted the problematic portion the new rolls became permanent even though the error banner disappeared! Thankfully, all the original rolls are fresh in my mind, I think, and the previously written damage tags help in recalling what hit and what didn't.)
Graxx smiles as he feels like Tempus himself is with him. He has cut down countless enemies and now feels compelled to continue the slaughter against this punchy Kobold. Graxx will bring his mighty sword down aiming for the KuoToa's head.
"TEMPUS", he cries out once more.

Doozey's instructions ringing clear, Utar spurs Glühoof forward towards the KuoToa, digging in his pack for his driftglobe. His fingers close around its smooth surface and he speaks the command word. Tossing it into the air as streaks of light detonate from the sphere. Casting daylight.
Graxx brings down his greatsword on the hidden curse's/Tempus' target. Though the gashes are deep, the valiant Kuo-toa still stands (Kuo-toa Brawler takes 53 magical slashing and radiant damage).
A hurt Edith continues to be as careful as she can.
Utar gives Doozey a nod and reaches for his Driftglobe. It emanates Daylight across the western part of the battlefield, and all Kuo-toa shield their eyes from the burst of bright light. Utar also notices that the patch of green slime just a few feet away from him immediately dries up, leaving a harmless green stain on the ground.
-> The Kuo-toa perform the Attack and Search actions at disadvantage while within the bright light range of the Driftglobe.
The cleric tries to take immediate advantage of this new battlefield boon by sending his spectral warhammer to swing at a hurt fishman, but the weapon misses its target.
(@MB: I'll add a token for the Driftglobe on the battle map this time around because the bright light range may come into play.)

Skirmishes continue to break out in the background as Kuo-toa minions replace the fleeing Kobolds. In between attacks and water runs to the fire pit, the villagers seem to be holding up well for now. Nonetheless, some villagers have been killed and others have been taken.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The brawling Kuo-toa tries to remove his foe's obvious advantage:
-> Punch vs. Edith: Attack: 12 Damage: 12 bludgeoning and lightning. (I forgot to add disadvantage. Here's a second attack roll: 8 - nothing changes).
Whatever strange natural ability powers the lightning in this fishman's fists now hits Edith. The mare shakes uncontrollably for a moment before falling abruptly to the ground (Edith takes 11 bludgeoning and lightning damage and is DEFEATED).
-> Graxx's DEX saving throw {DC 10}: 17
Graxx manages to avoid falling from the dying horse, landing on his feet. However, he is immediately met with a pair of attacks from the horse-killer:
-> Punch vs. Graxx: Attack: 23 Damage: 6 bludgeoning and lightning (Disadvantage should have cancelled the advantage from Reckless Attack. So, we are sticking with the first roll - nothing changes).
-> Bite vs. Graxx: Attack: 7 Damage: 4 piercing (Disadvantage should have cancelled the advantage from Reckless Attack. So, we are sticking with the first roll - nothing changes).
More of Graxx's blood drips onto the ground (Graxx takes an already halved 4 piercing and bludgeoning damage, as well as 6 lightning damage).
(@Grx: I'm not rolling for the curse this time because you are already berserked against this Kuo-toa that hit you).
The other bulky Kuo-toa, the one that carries the two-pronged staff, advances to {CK6} while chanting strange words at the ground. A bit closer to it now, Neya recognizes this language as Undercommon and realizes this Kuo-toa is about to cast as spell.
To Neya:
It said: "Blibdoolpoolp, curse them!" (that first word is a name).
-> CHA saving throws to those targeted by a Bane spell {DC 12}:
Graxx: 3
Neya: 20
Utar: 5
-> The following characters are now under the effects of Bane:Graxx and Neya.
Graxx and Neya feel some nausea take over their stomachs. This bothersome feeling will surely distract from battle!
The Kuo-toa Leader follows suit with a spell of its own. It waves around its lobster-headed scepter and gargles a few words:
-> The following characters are now under the effects of Hold Person:Utar and Neya
Both Utar and Neya feel their muscles tense involuntarily (they are now paralyzed but may repeat the saving throws at the end of each of their turns).
Warsh and Ulburto snap back into it. They continue to swing their weapons in an ugly, untrained manner.
-> Two help actions are available for those who claim it first. These cannot be used to attack the Kuo-toa Leader because it is too far away from where Ulburto and Warsh would be.
(Neya and Doozey are up next. Recall that the Kuo-toa Leader is protected by Sanctuary, and that you may be affected by Bane and/or Hold Person. You may re-roll the saving throws at the end of your turn if the spell calls for it.)
Through the gaps between structures, Doozey pinpoints the passing Wizard, tags it with his unparalleled sight, and releases a pre-loaded crossbow bolt. Action: Light Crossbow - Attack: 12 Damage: 12 non-magical piercing and magical lightning damage on Kobold Weezard.
Bonus Action: Slayer's Prey on Tubby Kuo-Toa(if Kobold Weezard is dead) at CM-0.
Action(Biscuit): Bite - Attack: 19 Damage: 5 non-magical piercing on Kobold Weezard(CO-4, if alive). If target is dead, aiming for Kuo-Toa(CN-3) instead.
When you realize you're doing too much: Signature.
Extended Signature
(Wave goes next.)
The two remaining creatures of the wood move to dispose of the closest threat. They both begin smashing the maggots on the ground:
-> Fist vs. Rot Grubs {CM12}:
Attack: 14 Damage: 3 bludgeoning. (original attack roll: 5)-> Fist vs. Rot Grubs {CM12}:
Attack: 12 Damage: 1 bludgeoning. (original attack roll: 8; original damage roll: 3).They are successful in mushing some of the nasty maggots, but many still remain (Swarm of Rot Grubs takes 3 bludgeoning damage).
The Kuo-toa warriors advance with purpose on the village. Most stop at the first obstacle they see, but one of them makes sure to go for the lady shooting arrows and her horse:
-> Spear vs. Palisade {CK6}:
Attack: 15 Damage: 2 piercing. (original attack roll: 15; original damage roll: 2).-> Spear vs. Palisade {CK6}:
Attack: 22 Damage: 5 piercing. (original attack roll: 13; original damage roll: 5).-> Net vs. Biscuit:
Attack: 22- Biscuit becomes restrained. (original attack roll: 17).-> Spear vs. Garnet:
Attack: 17 Damage: 7 piercing. (original attack roll: 11; original damage roll: 7).-> Bite vs. Biscuit:
Attack: 14 Damage: 3 piercing. (original attack rolls with advantage: 4 and 8).As a couple of these fish warriors clear the path by destroying another piece of the palisade, two others perform a tactical attack on Biscuit.
-> Here's a belated WIS saving throw for Graxx on that punch damage {DC 15}:
15- the sword tells the barbarian to kill the punchy Kuo-toa in front of him. (original saving throw: 5).(Graxx and Utar are up next.
Reckless + GWM
Attack: 14 Damage: 22
Attack: 22 Damage: 28
Divine Radiant Damage for First Hit: 8
IF KuoToa DIES Graxx will move to next nearest target for bonus action Great Weapon Master Extra Attack.
Attack: 18 Damage: 22
Edith will continue to dodge.
His spiritual weapon heads to CN,4 and engages a KuoToa there.
Attack: 14 Damage: 8
(Luck roll coming soon).
LUCK: 62 -> Neutral
Skirmishes continue to break out in the background as Kuo-toa minions replace the fleeing Kobolds. In between attacks and water runs to the fire pit, the villagers seem to be holding up well for now. Nonetheless, some villagers have been killed and others have been taken.
END OF INITIATIVE ROUND 6
BATTLE OF THE ISLET:
LEGEND:
(Wave goes next).
-> Graxx's DEX saving throw {DC 10}: 17
Graxx and Neya feel some nausea take over their stomachs. This bothersome feeling will surely distract from battle!
The Kuo-toa Leader follows suit with a spell of its own. It waves around its lobster-headed scepter and gargles a few words:
To Neya:
It says: ""Blibdoolpoolp, paralyze them!"
Recall that
the Kuo-toa Leader is protected by Sanctuary, andthat you may be affected by Bane and/or Hold Person. You may re-roll the saving throws at the end of your turn if the spell calls for it.)
