As Lyre listens in on the left door, he hears several gruff voices speaking Goblin. Luckily, they switch back and forth into a broken Common, so he's able to catch snippets of their conversation.
"Lick the floor!"
"Roll like a dog!"
(Lyre, please make a Insight check with advantage)
On the right door, he hears the rattling sound again, followed by a shouts and groans a flurry of voices as wagers are announced and paid out. There seems to be a gambling game going on inside...
The longsword Talon's hilt worked into the shape of a bird of prey with outstretched wings. Even an untrained eye could tell that the sword is masterfully crafted.
(Maglath, smith tools/insight won't be of much help, but you can do a history check to remember lore about the sword, or if you're willing to wield it and experiment with it, an arcana check will work.)

Maglath admires the craftsmanship that went into the sword and gives it a few practice slashes through the air. He hefts his warhammer in one hand and then the sword in the other, torn between the two. Finally he hangs his warhammer on to the hook on his belt, deciding to tryout the sword.
Most legends and lore of the lowlanders doesn't make it up into the mountains, but he thinks back at his travels with Lyre and the conversations they have overheard from the boastful drunks they've encountered trying to remember hearing anything about a sword like this.
(Arcana/History - same roll 9 - neither are something he has any real experience with and he may just end up smacking things in the head with it until he figures out what's going on).
Once exhausting his memory, he moves in closer to Lyre and Jeb, whispering "Have you heard anything?"
As Maglath gives the sword a few practice swings, it definitely feels different. Whether that's just because the sword has a different balancing compared to his warhammer, or because there's magic involved, he doesn't know. A combat trial will be necessary. However, he doesn't remember any lore about this particular blade.
As Lyre listens to the gruff voices in the left room, he immediately recognizes them from his experiences in countless Royal missions. They are bugbears, goblinoid brutes. What are they doing here?

While waiting for Lyre and Jeb to let them know what they've heard, Maglath draws on the last of his internal power to heal some of the cuts from the last encounter with the Redbrands.

Lyre communicates the sound of bugbears to the group. Being skilled in taking them down, he indicates to the rest of the group a direct attack may be worthwhile. Given the prisoners in the previous room, he infers the bugbears might also have hostages, and he informs the group that they may need to save another captive hostage.
Maglath takes a breath. Bugbears won't be easy, and the last encounter took a fair bit out of him, but if they can do it quickly, he's ready.
"I have no inner reserves of magical power left," he says quietly. "So will need to rely what energy I have left. If we can surprise them, that would help."
He holds the longsword they found in his hand and has his shield ready in the other.

Maglath watches Lyre check the door and see that it is unlocked.
”Push the door open quickly and I will charge in first. If we can catch them by surprise, we might be able to put one of them down before they know what hit them.”
(This thread must have slipped by my notifications list - apologies on the wait.)
Lyre agrees with the aggressive approach and will knock an arrow, preparing to shoot the first hostile creature he can see. He nods to the more stronger members of the party to open the door. He wasn't physically strong, and struggling to open a heavy door could botch an attempt at surprise.

Maglath looks at the doorway and Lyre's gestures that it's unlocked. He knows that trying to enter quietly are doomed to failure if he attempts it and instead moves through the doorway as quickly and powerfully as possible.

Maglath charges, smashing the door past him. Immediately, a pungent smell of unwashed bodies and rotten meat fills the air. Maglath finds himself inside a sort of barracks, which contains four roughly built wooden bunks, with heaped-up blankets and dirty dishes scattered about. Three tall bugbears are lounging among the mess. And while they may not be mistreating a hostage, they are instead barking orders at a sad little goblin that demeans itself for their amusement. The goliath's violent and sudden appearance causes the goblin to faint.
The bugbears roar in surprise and they begin reaching for their weapons. But Maglath is faster...

Maglath rushes in and slashes at a Bugbear, and suddenly feels the sword come to life in his hand. Talon seems to guide his strike towards the bugbear, and when the sword connects, provides enhanced power in slashing through it's flesh.
(I will keep bonuses in mind)
However, Murmen's flame soars low and singes the stone floor, while Lyre's shot is blocked just in time by a bugbear's shield.
Jeb lunges with his rapier at one of the bugbears, who's wearing a jeweled eyepatch.
Attack: 18 Damage: 9
John waits behind the party, as the doorway is blocked by Arikon and Lyre.
Arikon fires an eldritch blast at the same goblin Maglath attacked.
