"My concern is one of practicality... We shouldn't be traveling during the night - that's when monsters come out to chase the poor girl. Whichever one we get to before nightfall is where we should go. Ireena, from where we are, would we make Vallaki before nightfall? What of the Tser Pools?"
Sorry! Didn't see the question.
Time warp: Back at the bridge, Ireena answers to Valanthe's question, "We could go to the Vistani camp at Tser Pool and continue to Vallaki tomorrow, or we could also go a full day's journey, camping at the abandoned windmill and arrive in Vallaki the next day. Its up to you."

"An old wooden gallows creaks in a chill wind that blows down from the ground to the west. A frayed length of rope dances from its beam. The well-worn road splits here, and a signpost opposite the gallows points off in three directions: BAROVIA VILLAGE to the east, TSERPOOL to the northwest, and RAVENLOFT/VALLAKI to the southwest. The northwest fork slants down and disappears into the trees, while the southwest fork clings to an upward slope. Across from the gallows, a low wall, crumbling in places, partially encloses a small plot of graves shrouded in fog."

Thpas rolls his eyes with an exasperated sigh, "Ireena, you had me up until the point where you would have us spending the night at an abandoned windmill. How is that even a thing that you think would be okay? I get it you're a tough cookie... But come on. We'll get you there tomorrow." Turning to Valanthe he continues...
"Yes,yes. I'll say it: You were riiiight" he draws out the "i" to communicate his reluctance. "Lead the way, Valanthe...Tser Pool will have visitors tonight"

"Tser Pools it is - I wouldn't mind a full day to get to Vallaki. That also gives us a chance to check out this windmills during the day - always liked windmills, for some reason they remind me of giants in need skewering."

"What giant doesn't need skewering?" intoned Emre, sardonically. "Stinking giants. Especially those fire giants, they're the worst."
"As you leave, you hear a creaking noise behind you, coming from the gallows. Where there was nothing before now hangs a lifeless, gray body. The breeze turns the hanged figure slowly, so it can fix its dead eyes upon you."

Thpas turns for only a moment and with a gasp, he quietly exclaims "No!" And takes a few steps closer to the gallows to take a closer look. "This can't be..."
Thpas begins breathing heavily as panic and confusion anchor into his heart and mind, "It's...it's me! But, I am me!" He pats his hands around his body hoping for purchase on some corporeal form. "You all can see me here, can't you?" He reaches out for Byllemura's arm. "Am I still real?"

Byllemura, bewildered, grabs Thpas' hand: "Yes, you are as real as we are! What is happening?! You look terrible...". She squeezes the hand even harder. "Calm down, everything's alright"
Turning her head in the gallows direction, she mutters in a breath: "This corpse? What is it?" while trying to have a better look at this gloomy display (Perception: 9).
As his panic is subdued by reassurances from his company, Thpas ventures closer still to the unsettling sight of the corpse. With a clear expression of dread and foreboding curiosity, he mutters, "How can this be? Can't you all see, this is clearly me!? It looks so real. And not a single scar out of place."

"Traveling to Tser Pool and staying there for the night seems most practical, if indeed we have a potential ally there," says Emre.

Looking at Emre, in awe: "Have you ever met one? I mean, a fire giant? I have heard and read tales about them and they seem... deadly..."
