"Hmm, knowledge and treasure." Holding a hand over his mouth, as if to help him think, Thpas glances about the tent for books / artifacts or things that may hold such objects (shelves / chests)
Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
Madam Eva laughs and says, "Of course you may! The Vistani have nothing to hide. Search the camp as you please."
"Madam Eva, along with the grounds, may we search the other tents and wagons, as well? We'd not want to offend your people," Valanthe asks respectfully.

"Thank you." says Byllemura while exiting the fortune teller's tent. As she approaches the camp fire, she tells the gipsies "Dear friends, Madam Eva has told us of a great treasure hidden in your camp and has granted us the right to search for it. My friends and I will inspect your wagons and then we can chat and laugh together." and then continues towards one of the wagons and starts looking inside (Investigation: 21)

Taking Byllemura aside and echoing Erme's earlier sentiment, Valanthe whispers, "Byllemura - one thing to see what Eva had to say, but remember what Ireena and Ismark warned - they are friends of Strahd - we shouldn't be telling them that we are looking for something of great importance, and definitely not tell them if we find something!"
Before splitting up to search the wagons, Valanthe gathers the party off to the side away from the Vistani and in a hushed voice, "If we find something we absolutely do not let anyone outside us four know about it."
After ten minutes of searching, Byllemura finds something. An ancient, leather tome with a crest on the cover identical to the letter inviting you to Barovia:
Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
Byllemura mutters an incantation and with a quick flick of the hand she conjures a magical hand floating before her (casting mage hand) and uses it to grab the tome. She steps out of the wagon and calls everyone: "Guys! I think I found something!" while checking if the book holds any sorts of dangerous enchantment (Arcana: 23)

// I'm going to chock this up to you writing up a response without noticing the other posts that were written. //
While Byll is searching, Emre asks Madam Eva, "So why are you helping us? What do you have against this Strahd?"
"I have nothing against Strahd. I only wish him to be free of his curse. I am his half-sister. Before he was born, his father was married to another woman. When my mother died, he remarried and had Strahd and his brother."
Note to Toadstool: Byllemura sees no sign of magical traps on the book.

Valanthe walks up to the book, snatches it out of the mage hand, takes a quick look at it and says, "Byll, it's just a children's book - look here at the bottom, it says 'Is No Fun, Is No Blinsky!'" But it'll be a nice souvenir for my niece back home." Valanthe immediately places the book in her pack, without hesitation, covering the seal on the front with her hand as she does.

// I think I needed a better roll than that... LOL //
Still in the tent, Thpas begins sit and taps his lips, deep in thought "If treasure and knowledge are under your nose," his eyes brighten as if lightning were striking his mind, "I believe I should ask you to speak.... about the .... wealth..... of..... information you claim to have of the ...history... of this place, and specifically Count Strahd himself." He pauses intermittently, not for dramatic effect, but to collect and make sense of the ideas swimming in his mind. "Now if the first clue is as I believe, are you truly willing to tell us the honest truth?"
As Byllemura realizes what she has just done, she turns to Valanthe and whispers: "I am so sorry, Val. I... I... I got carried away. But this means something, right?"
Valanthe, looking somewhat annoyed but smiling, quietly replies, "Yes, it is likely important. And I understand - I get carried away sometimes, too. Now, hush for now, let's go back to the others. I think they had stayed with Madam Eva."

"I have nothing against Strahd. I only wish him to be free of his curse. I am his half-sister. Before he was born, his father was married to another woman. When my mother died, he remarried and had Strahd and his brother."
"Let me get this straight—you are Strahd's older, half sister? Do you mind me asking how long Strahd has been a vampire?"
"Strahd has been a vampire for over four hundred years. His people had come to Barovia long ago and conquered the valley. Once, after a battle, Strahd was gravely wounded. A group of people found him and brought him back to health. Those people were the Vistani. And Strahd has been loyal to them ever since. Soon afterward, Strahd hired a powerful archmage called Khazan to build him a mighty fortress. He named after his mother, Queen Ravenovia, calling it Ravenloft. Strahd never knew I was his half-sister, for when he was born, I became a servant in his castle. When he became a vampire, all the nobles, servants, and guards of Ravenloft were slain by him. He became a monster. And the land of Barovia has sealed him off from the rest of the world for all eternity."
Then she grins a wicked smile.
"The tome you have found contains Strahd's past. It tells you of how he became a vampire. Do not try to hide it from me. I know all and see all!"
She cackles madly.

"Did the curse give you your powers? And what happened to his brother?" Madame Eva has Thpas full attention.
