No, Zorn came down from the tree to prepare fire arrows. Then Komos tried to shoot in the same hole, missed and now the Hunter withdrew its eyes. Zorn is currently on the ground and I will say he's done prepping his fire arrows.
Zorn climbs the tree but when he gets close to where he can have a clear shot of the hole, he is met with the form of the Hunter, waiting for him to climb. For the first time he lays eyes on the elusive Hunter. Its think skin drapes around it like a long cloak. Tentacle like yellow vines extend from the bottom of its body. On its head is a thorny crown made of bramble that is adorned with leaves and berries. Its skin looks like it was made by stitching together various different beasts. A tiger's paw hangs limply here, a deer hoof there, a fox tail there. Its head is a bony skull of no one creature but a horrific amalgamation of various different beasts. Deer skulls with antlers that stick out haphazardly, a crocodile's snout protruding from a side only to morph into the top of a bear head. In seemingly random parts of the skull are eye sockets that hold bloodshot tired eyes. The eye lack eyelids but they stare in the same direction, focusing the Hunter's vision on its prey. The eyes also seem to belong to different beings, some human, some big cats, some from deers and horses. In the Hunter's hand is a strange weapon. It looks almost like a crossbow but it instead has a rusty metal tube coming out from its wooden body. Its hands are thin and shriveled but distinctly humanoid rather than animal. Mushrooms and bark grow around the hands, as if the creature had spent decades just tightly gripping its weapon without letting it go.
Before the pain of getting hit in the chest by the Hunter's metal projectile takes hold of him, the last thing Zorn sees is a bright flash from the dark abyss of the Hunter's barrel and then the deafening boom
Zorn roll a STR save DC16 or you fall out of the tree and take 1 Fall damage.
Zorn stands firm, staring at the hunter, not moved an inch from the hit. (Rolled a 24 for str save...)
Lifting his own bow, Zorn takes aim and shoots at the hunter twice. His first misses, but his second is more on-target. To hit on first shot is an 11, I assume that misses. To hit on the second is a 17, damage, if it hits is 12 piercing. Also, if it hits then... - The attack’s target must succeed on a STR saving throw (DC:13) or be moved by the swarm up to 15 ft. horizontally in a direction of your choice. If the arrow hits, then Zorn will move the hunter out of the tree and force him to fall to the ground.
If the hunter does not fall, for whatever reason, then Zorn will drop back to where he has full cover from the hunter.
The Hunter digs in its... legs? Tentacles? into the ground and keeps from falling. Zorn quickly goes down back to cover to recuperate. While Zorn and Komos try to think of what to do next, they are joined by Varn and Skarro. Now all four of them are near the Hunter's tree.
Zorn plans on popping up and taking another shot when he can, then dropping back behind cover after the shots. There is just one of the hunters he figures and, if all of them attack, the hunter cannot target all of them.
@DM: So he's no longer visible? I just wanted to see what spells and abilities might be within range. Also...could we cross to his tree from the canopy of our tree(s)?
Yeah the Hunter isn't visible from ground level. Also his tree is taller than the other trees so know. There's a hole in the tree at ground level you can use to get in but that's basically the "Front door". There's another hole at the same level as the other trees but when Zorn climbed up to that level, he got shot by the Hunter camping there.
(Did any of the flame arrows Zorn shot previously land inside the tree? If so, then did that do anything? The one that hit the hunter would have also been a flame arrow, if that makes any difference.)
Zorn prepares his next two fire arrows, figuring that, if he missed the hunter, he could at least hit the tree itself.
((Sorry for the delay. I got sick. Still am sick but not as much as I was))
@Zorn: I actually didn't realize you shot the Hunter with Flame Arrows. It should do 1 extra Fire damage to it. But other than that, the one that missed would have started a fire. Though now that you're down here, you don't know if the fire has spread. Chances are, the Hunter put the fire out. However, you don't know if it did put the fire out or not because again, you can't see the Hunter from ground level.
Seeing the efforts of Zorn to set the tree alight, Skarro also tries to construct fire arrows, with his plan to launching them at the base of the tree.
Zorn continues his work on fire arrows, then readies to pop up and take another two shots, with the plan to drop out of sight again. At least if the hunter did put out the flames, then he is not likely to be ready to take a shot, or at least that is Zorn's thought process, but we'll see what the actual truth of the matter is...
At first, Varn watches to see how the Hunter reacts to what the others are doing. If he shoots any body part that leaves cover, Varn will wait to see if the others' efforts make any difference. Otherwise, he will poke his head, expand the flames to burn more of the Hunter's tree, then retreat behind cover again. He will continue to do that until something significant happens.

As planned, Zorn climbs up and tries to shoot his fire arrow as stated before.

What's your next move?

@DM: How far away is the hunter?
He's inside the tree. You have to get into the tree to get to him. If you go in, you don't know how much it might spiral to get to his position. -

Komos quietly makes his way to whichever friends are nearby and says, "Now that he's gone inside... should we try to smoke him out?"

What's Varn and Komos doing?
Bump
