As you draw near you notice heat coming from the hole in the floor. You surmise that it leads to lava of the volcano.
You become visible as your scimitar hums with energy. You strike at the gnoll dressed in woven bones and it glances off off them. It feels like striking steel bars rather than bone. The priest turns to you and snarls words you don't comprehend, and tosses the box into the hole.
You hear a short screech then a rumble. The hole goes dark and you recall that outside, the steam would also pause.
The priest slashes at you with long claws!

Elyona swings her axe twice at the gnoll in front of her:
Attack: 21 Damage: 6
Attack: 22 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
OOC: If someone attacks Oethe, Elyona will use her reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack. Also a reminder that everyone with 10 feet of Elyona (so Oethe) gets +4 on saving throws and resistance to damage from spell.
Moving a short distance along the higher ground (about 10 feet?) before nocking an arrow and loosing it at the nearest Gnoll...
Attack: 14 Damage: 0
OOC I sure hope I'm doing this right.
Your attack modifier is +9, so you add that to the roll, and your damage is 1d8+4.
Also Hawks gets two attacks per attack action, so let a second arrow fly at the same target or divide your shots. Unless you dash or disengage as part of your move, though what you'd actually be doing is supplementing your movement with your action, whether you move 0' or up to your base move of 30', you get 2 attacks. You could even for instance move 15', attack, and move another 15' and attack which might be useful in a scenario where you wanted multiple angles to draw from.
"Action economy" is probably the biggest learning curve to the game, but you're doing fine. I always advise new basically think about what you want to do, make an effort to articulate in games terms, and then let the other players and DMs coach you so you can realize your PC's full capacity.
But basically all characters have a "move" and an "action" available to them at their turn. Then there are things called bonus actions and reactions. I think I know what I'm doing next so will OOC an explainer that sort of breaks down my turn in terms of action economy when I'm next up.
End note: as long as you're having fun, you're doing good.
When you click the dice button, go to the second tab that says “combat,” and where it asks for your “Attack Modifier” put a “9,” where it asks for your “damage dice” put “1d8,” and where it asks for your “damage modifier” put “4.” And since you have two shots, you should do that twice if you want to use both of them.
Not sure if you're telling me I blew my Dex or want me to check against 7. If it's the latter 19. If it's a save I get 3 more added to that.

OOC: You blew the Dex check, but no harm done. The gnoll thinks he bumped into something, took a swing and missed. You are still hidden/invisible.

OOC: If Toots moves up her 25’ and maintained line of sight, how close could she get to the Gnolls? Within 60 feet? And how hurt do they look?

It looks like Toots can’t see the Gnolls, so she will use her action to dash up another 25 feet.
