i just had the idea that maybe you can use the mere way you roll your dice as a way to characterize and distinguish between diffrent PC's or NPC's (sort of like how in the newer pokemon games diffrent characters have diffrent ball throwing animations), ether by mimicing the motion the roll is made for or by trying to portray their general energy / attitude for instance while playing an bored litch who has been alive for far too long and has a bit of an death wish one might "roll" the dice by picking one up with your finger and thumb, holding your arm outstretched and simply dropping it, an tempest cleric casting call lightning might split the pool of damage dice into two piles, put one into one hand and one into the other, first reaching with their right hand as far up as they can before throwing it at the table (at an safe velocity) before doing the same with your left as if they are physically dragging the lighting out of the clouds, having your face physically near the palm of your hand when rolling damage for the fire breath of an red dragon, when rolling for an illusion spell as some kind of magician you might take three cups, place the dice in one of the cups, shuffle them arround as one might and then lifting them all (or just the relevant cup if you can keep track) to reveal the number you rolled, if ones character is chucking a bomb of some sort you might instead chuck you dice with similar energy (preferably without it ending up on the floor or in anybodys eyes).
Whatcha think, is this a good idea?

I don’t mean to burst your bubble but this to me seems like it’d be more work than a fun unique thing to try in a campaign. I by no mean want to stop you from doing it though! If that’s something you’d like to try, go ahead!
I've seen that this sometimes just comes up naturally with players who get heavy into roleplay. Someone playing a stoic, elegant character has some of that leak into their motions as they get in character, daintily picking up their dice and letting them drop. While someone who's more boisterous and jovial might throw their dice with more energy and enthusiasm. Not always, of course... but it does come up in subtle ways.

I love it and it's something I'm totally going to start doing, especially when my game becomes in person again.
