Hi all, I'm still relatively new to building characters especially with all the different classes and races, and was hoping to get help fleshing out what I'd need to build a character similar to Irelia from League of Legends, specifically the blades being controlled with her mind. Link here for full Irelia description!
You won't be able to directly translate mechanics, but here is how I would start:
Here is what I would put as my short list of stuff:
Melee focused, with some shorter range abilities
Dash
Stun / crowd control
Bonus damage / marking
Lore wise, being a fighter / leader leads me towards paladin with the new Oath of Glory being a decent fit.
I think a hexblade warlock could also fit.
As far as the mind blades, go, that pretty much says Soulknife Rogue, but I don't think that suits her lore well.
Half-Elf, Human, and Kalashtar (Eberron) all seem like good race choices.
I would probably go as follows: Half Elf, because stats (I needed the persuasion skill, which she would probably have) Warlock (hexblade - her shattered family crest is the thing she made a pact with) Entertainer background (trained in traditional dance)
Misty Step, Blur, and Relentless Hex to represent her dashing ability. The Pact / Hex Weapon and Sword Burst is her using her mind to manipulate her blades. Banishment is her stun Hex is her passives. Flavor Eldritch Blast as sword shaped, and that is her throwing her swords.
I think that three things could work: swords bard, soulknife rogue and bladesinger wizard. I think that there needs to be some magic, as well as being dextrous. Like the idea, love League.

'The Cleverness of mushrooms always surprises me!' - Ivern Bramblefoot.
I don't think there's anything core that would fit this character perfectly, but this kind of Warcraft character is probably what the devs had in mind when they made the College of Swords bard. You can do a lot of the mobility and sweeping hits, the bard spells can be used to augment your combat abilities. Maybe couple that with, like, a winter eladrin, and work out some of the cosmetic stuff with your DM. You'd be able to get pretty close without getting too squirrelly.
