On your turn, you can move a distance up to your speed and take one action. You decide whether to move first or take your action first. Your speed--sometimes called your walking speed--is noted on your character sheet.
The most common actions you can take are described in the Actions in Combat section. Many class features and other abilities provide additional options for your action.
You can forgo moving, taking an action, or doing anything at all on your turn. If you can't decide what to do on your turn, consider taking the Dodge or Ready action, as described in "Actions in Combat."
Bonus Actions
Various class features, spells, and other abilities let you take an additional action on your turn called a bonus action. The Cunning Action feature, for example, allows a rogue to take a bonus action. You can take a bonus action only when a special ability, spell, or other feature of the game states that you can do something as a bonus action. You otherwise don't have a bonus action to take.
You can take only one bonus action on your turn, so you must choose which bonus action to use when you have more than one available.
You choose when to take a bonus action during your turn, unless the bonus action's timing is specified, and anything that deprives you of your ability to take actions also prevents you from taking a bonus action.
Other Activity on Your Turn
Your turn can include a variety of flourishes that require neither your action nor your move.
You can communicate however you are able, through brief utterances and gestures, as you take your turn.
You can also interact with one object or feature of the environment for free, during either your move or your action. For example, you could open a door during your move as you stride toward a foe, or you could draw your weapon as part of the same action you use to attack.
If you want to interact with a second object, you need to use your action. Some magic items and other special objects always require an action to use, as stated in their descriptions.
The DM might require you to use an action for any of these activities when it needs special care or when it presents an unusual obstacle. For instance, the DM could reasonably expect you to use an action to open a stuck door or turn a crank to lower a drawbridge.
Reactions
Certain special abilities, spells, and situations allow you to take a special action called a reaction. A reaction is an instant response to a trigger of some kind, which can occur on your turn or on someone else's. The opportunity attack, described later in this section, is the most common type of reaction.
When you take a reaction, you can't take another one until the start of your next turn. If the reaction interrupts another creature's turn, that creature can continue its turn right after the reaction.
But for rogues, cunning action says bonus. Is that also referring to another way to use the bonus action?
Yes. A character only gets one bonus action per turn.
I've been reading rogues wrong this whole time. I thought it gave a extra choice each turn because it was worded as "You can take a bonus action on each of your turns in combat. This action can be used only to take the Dash, Disengage, or Hide action" Because it stated you can take a bonus action on each turn is combat, I assumed that because it stated that, you receive a additional action to dash, Disengage or Hide. Wouldn't it just say "As a bonus action. you can Dash Disengage, or Hide"??
I'm a huge fan of the flavor of this subclass, but the more I look at it the more I feel the class is front-loaded. It is great (almost over-powered) at low levels, especially with a high wisdom modifier, but fades away at higher levels. Below are some of the changes I thought might make the class more balanced throughout the leveling process. (Note: I am relatively new to D&D so my ideas's could way off the mark.)
The idea that "you can cast the augury and guiding bolt spells without expending a spell slot and without preparing the spell, provided you use the star map as the spellcasting focus" is a really cool feature. However, the idea you can "cast a spell from the map in this way a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier" seems a little unbalanced. If you have a high wisdom modifier right off the bat, you could end up having the equivalent of 4-5 extra spell slots at level one. I think the feature would benefit from the following wording:
"You can cast a spell from the map in this way equal to half your druid level (rounded down)." When worded this way I think the feature would be less of a force at lower-levels, but still useful. The problem is you would end up with the equivalent of 10 1st-level spell slots at 20th level, but with no intention of ever using them. To stop this from occurring, you could add the following to the feature: "by choosing to expend more uses of the star map at once you can cast guiding bolt at a higher level, but only up to half of your current Druid spell-casting level." This way guiding bolt could be made useful at higher levels, but would also prevent the character from getting an extra 9th level spell slot.
I like that the 10th-level feature upgrades your starry form, but it doesn't go far enough in my opinion. Looking it over, I feel only the dragon constellation would really benefit from this feature (not that the other forms wouldn't see any benefit, but it seems to match very well with dragon constellation out of all of them). Instead of having all starry-form's giving you resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage, I feel that the 10th-level feature could give individual benefits to all the constellation forms. For example: the dragon would get the resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage, but the Archer constellation might get darkvision or something similar and maybe an increase in the damage his attacks would do (maybe add proficiency or a 2nd d8 to the damage?).
Finally, I think it would be cool if the 14th-level Circle of the Stars feature involved the spell Crown of Stars. While in starry form, As an action, you can cast Crown of Stars once per long rest. I will admit this proposed change to the 14th-level feature has nothing to with balance, I just think the idea that your connection to the stars has grown so powerful motes of starlight rise from your form and are yours to command is pretty impressive.
I do not have any problems with the 6th-level Circle of the Stars feature. It looks solid and it shows the divination aspect of the Star druid more than the other features.
Had a chance to run a star druid ally NPC a little while ago and it was awesome. The starry form magical girl transformation is really cool. Love this subclass, I really hope it makes it to live.

It is probably one of my most anticipated subclasses to see in an official release.
The image of a cosmic-looking druid chucking balls of starlight at their enemies (and eventually creating a starburst), is too good to pass up.
Got a whole character-concept waiting in my back-pocket...Astraeus, the star-touched aasimar.

Sounds great. I'm excited for it as well. It seems to fit really well with Theros.

I was surprised it wasn't printed in Theros. The "starry body" transformation fits the Nyxborn appearance of starry nebula sky perfectly, and the theme of divining the will of the gods through what they've written in the stars is exactly what you'd expect. But the Circle of Stars is not in Theros.

Been tinkering with the idea of a level or two of "War Cleric" with "Circle of Stars" druid...
Sort of a "cosmic champion" who can wield a greatsword if they have to...and still blast enemies with radiant energy when they aren't.
You pick up some decent spells, as well..."Inflict Wounds" is a favorite spell of mine; and two levels of "War Cleric" gains you "Guided Strike" as a Channel Divinity...when you really need "Inflict Wounds" to ruin someone's day. : ]
"Sanctuary" is a good spell when you decide to feel like a healer...
...lots of potential. I think I have it down.
I just need a deity... "Helm" might be a good deity, since he is a protector god.
It makes sense that he would lean on Star Druids to protect the Material Plane from extra-planar threats.
Star Map: Couple free 1st level spell slots. Pretty good but falls off quickly and you'll forget it exists not much later.
Starry Form: Takes an action to set up, which partially outweighs the power of it at lower levels. I admit I'm playing an Aasimar though so if I use Archer + Protector transformation I can fly around using Guiding Bolt + Archer and deal stupid amounts of radiant damage for free. You're sleeping on the Chalice and Dragon forms, 1d8+3 is pretty nice with Healing Word or Cure Wounds and goes to whoever you want within 30 feet, and Dragon makes it difficult to ever lose concentration. Chalice and Archer also fall off rather quickly, sadly. It should probably scale like cantrips, maybe a bit weaker since it's BA.
Omens: Also pretty strong, also doesn't scale. Keep in mind that it's a 50/50 chance for Weal or Woe every day. I was going to say only a d6 but an average of like 3-4 to or from something is always nice, and you don't have to apply it before. I've been playing a Star Druid and while it feels amazing to be able to bump an ally's save (or my own) or make an enemy miss an attack... 50% of the time I see something roughly 6 off from the AC/DC and curse under my breath because I got the coin flip wrong.
Full of Stars: At level 10? There's gonna be a lot of magic going around by level 10. (Helps outweigh the Star Form not scaling, though.)
Star Flare: Teleports and battlefield control are always super fun. Shame it's a save or suck ability instead of like Sunbeam where they still take half.
Happy to help. 👍

Twilight cleric works very nicely as well. Darkvision with no range? Yes please. Synergizes well with races that don't have any darkvision.

Do you guys think this subclass will be published in the next book? I'd really, reeeeeeeeally love to see it published
It is. All UA except for the most recent (spirit bard and undead warlock) is going into the book, as well as a few revisions from older stuff.
