It's a super old UA, so it is considered a "dead" UA, as it never made it into any book. It isn't available for character creation, unless you make it as a Homebrew Subclass.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Some Unearthed Arcana can also be dropped due to lack of popularity. If not enough people like it compared to other UA, as reflected by the surveys they do, then it is dropped rather than fixed and official tool sites like D&D Beyond are asked to Archive it. If a UA proves popular they let it stay, even if there are no immediate plans to include in a book, which is why older UA can remain on here while newer ones can be Archived.
So, if you like the UA subclass/spell/whatever: ensure that you fill in the surveys on the WotC site before they close them. That's the feedback they primarily rely upon.

You are more than welcome to use the Homebrew tools to re-create the subclass so you can use it - if you take this route, please do not publicly share as it is against the Rules.
Wizards of the Coast have requested that UA be taken down when it reaches the end of the playtest cycle. UA may then evolve into additional UA or possible a printed sourcebook at a later date. Not all UA does, and thats dependant on Wizards of the Coast.
As a suggestion I always make a character whenever new UA is posted here so that I have a template to use going forward. The character can then be copied and the information remains even if they remove the UA info from the character builder. Be sure and make one of each subclass (like the old shifter and warforged) too so you have each variant.
Alternatively, if you want the real Brute experience, you could create a Fighter subclass that gives you every single feature of the entire Barbarian base class. Simply copy the features of the barbarian into the 'Brute 2.0' fighter, and you'd end up at the same place. Probably easier to do with the UA down, at this point.
That wouldn't work, CC. Mostly because the conversation around the Brute always ends up going thusly:
"Man, you know what'd be cool? A fighter subclass that's all about being super strong, super tough, just shrugging off loads of damage and beating stuff down with SHEER MUSCLE! Just a big burly wall of badass meat nobody wants to mess with!" "Soooo...you mean, like...a barbarian?" "What?! No! Why the hell would I want to play a barbarian?! I just want a fighter with tons of damage resistance and extra damage from their sheer strength and power, who doesn't bother with all that fighting-technique crap and is just instead really good at hitting stuff really HARD!" "...soooooooooooooo....you mean, kinda like.......a barbarian?" "NOOO! I want the extra feats and the bajillion attacks and the cool fighting style and the heavy armor and all that good fighter shit, just...y'know, also with damage resistance and a big fat damage boost on melee Strength attacks and advantage on Strength-based everything because I wanna be the STRONG GUY!" "......soooooooo-" "Don't even freaking say it, jackass >_>" "What? You are LITERALLY DESCRIBING THE BARBARIAN. Why are you so pissed about this?"
So on and so forth. improvised weapon mastery wouldn't cut the mustard for folks who're basically looking to gestalt Fighter and Barbarian without the drawbacks of either class.
People hate it when 2 ideas overlap, and start screaming about it online. The brute was made out to be too much like the barbarian, but I like the idea.

I am 100% going to make a homebrew using Brute that only works with unarmed attacks and rocks and call it the Fezzik Archetype.
that sounds like an barbarian thing and not a fighter thing, the thing about fighters is that they are supposed to be like smart combatants, using tactical brilliance to excel in combat, instead of just using brute force

Are you saying you can't be a smart combatant if you use unarmed attacks and rocks?
I think they are trying to say Barbarians can't be smart.

of course barbarians can be smart, and i am not saying you cannot have an fighter who is mindful of the battlefield while simultaneously using some rather unconventional weapons, just be mindful about how you flavour the subclass as not to create what is just an secret barbarian. I simply dont think many people are going to choose a rock or your fists as an weapon over tools desgined specifically for combat unless somehow magic is involved

Where is the brute sunclass?
It's a super old UA, so it is considered a "dead" UA, as it never made it into any book. It isn't available for character creation, unless you make it as a Homebrew Subclass.
Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
But why? It was so good!!!
There are a few reasons why it was dropped:
(I liked the subclass. It was a tad broken, but they could've fixed it easily)

Wary the wizard who focuses on homebrew, for he can create nightmares that you wouldn't even dream of

You need to use the Homebrew Tools to create the subclass first - https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew

Go to the wizards website where all of the old UA articles are posted and you can homebrew the brute from that information.
