I'm sure I'm in the minority with wanting Sigil on Mac, but I have been a Master level Tier subscriber since it pretty much started.
Sigil looks really fun and right now I've been using Maps to run my games since having to move our game Online (I moved away).
I just wanted to make a post to bring some light in hopefully getting MacOS integration sooner than later, as I was hoping I could move over from Maps to this when it came out.
I looks so fun. Jealous of those of you not in my situation.
I believe it's been said they want to bring it to as many platforms as possible (I even vaguely recall something about console?) but given it's still very early in the development it makes sense they're limiting that to one platform, and the platform that's easiest to develop for.
Oh that's right, I forgot about the console mention in the livestream! I guess it's just a patience game. I just hope that they don't consider cancelling expansion based on retention or use at this early stage, as that'd just be a self fulfilling prophecy. Sigil is meant for groups, so any group that isn't all PC users will automatically be unable to use sigil. If they go, "oh, people aren't using this as much as we'd hoped," or "there's not enough retention," and they choose to can the whole thing altogether, it'd be both their own fault as well as a complete shame. I can imagine that WOTC developers are thoughtful enough to make that base code relatively easy to shuffle around for other platforms if they've been planning to make it available for them since the planning stage, so hopefully the wait isn't too long.

A lot of the time, the lack of support comes from the Apple side of things. There are so many games and applications that just won't run on a Mac because the people at apple make it nearly impossible.
I was requested to move it elsewhere. Starting with macOS 10.15 Catalina, Apple is requiring app notarization by default: "Mac apps, installer packages, and kernel extensions that are signed with Developer ID must also be notarized by Apple in order to run on macOS Catalina." Meanwhile, this discussion on MacRumors suggests Catalina's Gatekeeper can be overridden via System Prefs > Security or spectl to allow unsigned/unnotarized apps to run.
It's a moot point as I think Project Sigil has been canceled (though no official announcement has been made).
However, requiring all apps, installer packages, and kernel extensions to be notarized by Apple is a good thing. The threat environment is only getting worse, and we are long past when downloading and installing apps from randos on the internet is OK. If a developer can't be bothered to sign and notarize their app, then they can stick with some other platform.

What is your source for this? I know you said "no official announcement", but then how do you know it's been killed? Was it mentioned unofficially somewhere?

Like 95% of the team was laid off. This was shared by some of the folks that were let go. Nothing official is out yet but it's assumed to be dead because no one is working on it.

Same here— I’m mostly just upset from a lack of communication on when we could expect it.

If we get enough people wanting it on Mac, wizards of the coast will have to do it and we can finally use it.

I am installing VMWare Fusion to see how well Sigil runs on my M3 MBP.
sigil has been pretty much discontinued. Id not waste my time.
