Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been online, I was at golf camp all week and all day. Hope I didn't miss anything too important!
Hey Gradius! No, you didn't miss anything, its been kind of slow on here the last week or so. Only thing of note is that blacknazgul13 has been posting really cool fan art (check it out, its on the three latest pages).

I’m running a ruined necromancers tower inspired by Dol Guldur from the Hobbit movies for my D&D game on the weekend and have yet to make it (I’ve just got some random ideas currently). I’m trying to make it as creepy as possible. (Note to self: Must remember to read Curse of Strahd).

Here's a tip: point out unrelated but creepy things like claw marks on the wall, or a random disembodied hand. To make the environment seem creepy, add one pretty thing, like a flower, it makes the rest very creepy in contrast to the one thing.

Np! I unsuccesfully tried to run a creepy curse of strahd game, my group is just too funny and just plain fun, and I'm almost incapable of being creepy. Gradiusguy1245's Cha: 1000,000,000

Every time I try to have a serious session, my group turn it into a comedy. Like, when they were Chosen by several gods, I asked them what they did. They started singing "Tiny Bubbles" with the gods.
Creepy D&D adventures are cool, but for real horror nothing beats the Dread RPG. I've genuinely frightened my group with that game.
I’ve never heard of it. What’s it like?
Its central mechanic is a Jenga tower. When a character attempts a difficult task in their struggle to survive, they must pull a block from the tower. If the tower falls, the character dies. That in itself doesn't create horror—I've got a lot of other thoughts on how to run a good horror game—but it provides the perfect framework for tension.
Here's a good one: What would have happened in LOTR if Saruman hadn't gone evil?
Probably everything would have gone well, no uruk-hai, no wormtongue, no pippin having to leave the group bc of the palantir, and many many more.
They wouldn't have gone through Moria though, so Gollum would never have found them, and Frodo and Sam might not have made it to Mordor, and the quest would probably have failed.

But there would still be like, an army of ents that weren't cut down, and half of the orcs wouldn't exist, it would be significantly easier. Also they would have saruman on their side which would be a game changer.

The ents never would have been roused in the first place. But regardless, Saruman knew a lot more ring-lore than Gandalf. If it hadn’t corrupted him, they could have identified the Ring many years earlier, and who knows what would have happened then.

Exactly, saruman turning evil was like, the cause of Lotr

The ents only got involved because Saruman was cutting them down. I doubt even Gandalf could have got them to participate if Saruman wasn't evil and destroying them.
Also, yes, Minas Tirith could definitely have put up a better fight with Saruman to help them out, but Frodo and Sam would still probably have got captured. And with the Ring, Sauron could easily take out all the Istari.
