Won't it create unlimited keys if you copy it, because the spell gets duplicated by the key, and then the key that gets created duplicates the spell that was duplicated by the key, and so on?

Only if it’s automatic. I was thinking a key that copied fireball or something and then copying that key a bagillion times....

If it was automatic, you'd have to suppress the ability to get them to stop duplicating. While holding the keys, you'd be able to Cast any spell you wanted, and have it duplicated x times (where x is how many keys there were before you stopped it) with only using a single slot
Implementing a Japanese game show style obstacle course in a play-by-post game where players are expected to give a detailed description of how they get through each obstacle in addition to making a die roll, with each failure (either because you rolled low or because you didn't describe how you were going to get through it in a way that satisfied the GM's arbitrary whims) causing a cumulative, permanent penalty to all future rolls and expecting that you'll actually have players left.

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Look up the Challenge of Champions, a series of articles in Dragon magazine... or was it Dungeon? Can't recall. They were a series of mini adventures that were essentially challenges that were less about rolls and more about players working out a good strategy. Really fun stuff.
This, on the other hand, was strictly enforced with each character being on their own, and the ability to use magic was severely restricted (for example, no flight, no teleportation, and no shapeshifting of any kind). The party rebelled and forced the GM to come up with a different scenario because absolutely nothing about it was fun.

A wand that only cast Fireball, directly spotting the wearer of the wand ( just goes 5 ft. away, in a straight line, farder from the caster, to later turn back to idem ).
Cursed wand of shatter. When you use the spell, roll a d20. On a 1, the wand causes you to drop all weapons, armor, and equipment and then targets the spell on you. Your equipment, no longer worn or held, is destroyed.
a spells that disables healing through the entire campaign or a spell that turns the entire party into furries I now know that I will never be able to be a DM
oh my God it's the key apocalypse
here are bad ideas:
ranger being trash
invulnerability being a spell
inflict wounds being first level
blood hunter not being in explorer guide to wilmount
plate armor costing 1500 gp
having monster higher cr than 24...
oh wait... wizerds of the coast did that...
I am an average mathematics enjoyer.

feather armor a armor that is entirely made out of feathers
leather arm, an arm that is made of leather.
