Is it possible to set up a spellbook as a container that can be filled with Spells? I don't see a way to do it but that would be a helpful feature.
If your character has only one spellbook just use the spells section. If you want to keep track of multiple spellbooks you can customize a container. Click on the container and look for the customize option in the description box. After that create custom items for spells in the container.
Adding onto this thread because I think I'd be really slick;
Replacing the Book. You can copy a spell from your own spellbook into another book—for example, if you want to make a backup copy of your spellbook. This is just like copying a new spell into your spellbook, but faster and easier, since you understand your own notation and already know how to cast the spell. You need spend only 1 hour and 10 gp for each level of the copied spell.
If you lose your spellbook, you can use the same procedure to transcribe the spells that you have prepared into a new spellbook. Filling out the remainder of your spellbook requires you to find new spells to do so, as normal. For this reason, many wizards keep backup spellbooks in a safe place.
Considering that its established lore that wizards keep backup spellbooks, I think it would be really neat if there was a "spellbook" container type which could be applied to actual spellbook items, spellshards, or spellbook magical items, much like how backpacks and chests are considered "item containers". An item which is a spellbook/spell-container could be equipped, granting the player access to prepare spells from that container. If a spellbook/spell-container is not equipped, the spells in that container are not accessible to the player. This has the added bonus of making it easier for players to keep track of what spells are contained in a given container instead of manually writing the spells in the customized description of the item or making faux-magic-items which represent spells to put in an item container.
I create the Spellbooks as Wondrous Items and tooltip the contained spells. I use the description for other additional notes as well. Then I can just update that homebrewed magic item as needed. Like this:
Thats a great alternative using the current system! It does require the user to manually go through and swap out their spells in their "spellbook" when their old tome is destroyed or stolen (albeit I'd wager is a rare occurrence).
I would like this as well with spells level lining up with the space it requires. Occasionally players may find capture a spell book and being able to create it as an item would be great.

Whenever a PC in a campaign I am DMing finds a Spellbook I actually give them a homebrewed wondrous item not unlike the one I linked above to put in their inventory. If the book belonged to a high enough level Wizard, it will often also include stuff like partially (or wholly) researched formulas for the creation of magic items and stuff too entered into the item’s description.
You can see the research notes that Mardkdule had in his spellbook. Now, not only is the spellbook valuable to a Wizard, but to any spellcaster who could use this particular formula to make a weapon, +1. So this spellbook even holds value to a party without a Wizard, but does have an Artificer, Paladin, or Forge/War/Arcana domain Cleric because they can all cast magic weapon. (Of course, that’s not the only formula that can make that magic item.) It also includes the partial formulae for the creation of a weapon, +2, or weapon, +3.

This is already what the spells section is for.
Lightning Strike - A rebranded Fire Bolt for Wizards & Sorcerers.
Spirit Bomb - A holy fireball for Clerics, Paladins, & Divine Soul Sorcerers!
Sword Dancer - A Cleric subclass specifically for the Drow goddess Eilistraee.
Quicksilver & The Scarlet Witch - A pair of magical firearms for your Gunslinger or Artificer.

Thank you I'll give that a try.
