That also sounds great. I actually didn't mind the two-panel setup they had before, but it would have been even better if both panels could have any tab in them.
As far as tapping Back, I see your point but it would still be better than nothing. Ideally, they could capture the hitting of the browser Back button and it'd take you back through your previous open tabs and sidebars, as some other sites do. Hitting Back now is a bit of a disaster in DDB since none of the panels remember what tab you were on.
"Capturing the back button" is a very complicated thing to do, and y really hope they don't do that - if I press the back button in the browser, I expect that I navigate to the previous *page* in the browser. Changing that behaviour would be a disaster.
But that's how REST websites work. GMail, for example. I like that navigation. It's completely plausible to have a URL that opens Character X with the spell page on.
Show me where in GMail you can use the browser's back button to navigate the content on a popup tooltip and I shall move the world. As a web developer I can tell you, "REST websites" has nothing to do with navigation, it's is a method of transferring data between services... ;)
Gmail isn't quite there but it's close. It's possible to hit back and have it re-open the Compose popover for instance. At the moment the browser back button when using DDB just sits there doing nothing because it's all one "page" that we're loathe to reload because it takes time and resets. Giving the back button some useful functionality ala GSuite wouldn't hurt IMO.
To be honest, I opened up gmail, clicked on things in the sidebar, and the back button didn't even activate. When I clicked on an email and *navigated* to the email view, it appeared.
The browser's navigation buttons are for site navigation. Tooltips and popups are not site navigation. I am glad that of I press the back button, I immediately get back to the character list, or whatever page I was before opening my character, instead of having to navigate back all through the tooltips and sidebars I opened.
OK is it possible to have URLs for different states of the page (like Gmail etc) without engaging the back button?
At the moment you can bookmark your character list and individual characters, but you can't bookmark with any granularity on the character sheet itself.
Edit: The more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that panels simply remembering what sub-tab you were on would solve a lot of repetitive digging around during a session.

Theoretically it's possible, by passing get or hashed parameters to the url. (The rule of thumb is, one url - one view.) Practically it can be a lot of work adding support to handle these parameters if the system was not designed with that in mind from the beginning, and frankly, there's a lot of other things I'd like to be implemented instead.

I would love to see the implementation of versioning to the character sheet. like when you edit it saves the last version so if you make a mistake you can go back. I had a issue where I was adding XP and I made a mistake and it down level my character. I could fix it but it is impossible to remember at that xp amount I was at so I had to estimate

I would like to see this as well, but I would like to be able to take snapshots of my character at previous levels. I can do this with a PDF, but it would be nice to see the progression of my character as they level up. Great for long campaigns.

I bought Tabaxi as a single item from the Volo book, then I later bought the book. Now in race selection I have 2 basic Tabaxi races both of which are the same.
The "Managed Spells" popout seems to have some glitches for Circle of the Land Druids. The Bonus Cantrip isn't listed under "Prepared Spells", and the counts under "Known Spells" don't include the Bonus Cantrip or the Circle Spells.
In the Spells section, could you add another little filter icon next to 1ST 2ND 3RD C R etc. that would filter out spells appearing multiple times at higher levels. In other words, with the filter on, you would see each spell only one time in the list (at its lowest level). This would be helpful to get a simple overview of my prepared spells without having the clutter of duplicates.

Or you could click on the "Manage Spells" button and look under "Prepared Spells".
It gives a complete list of prepared spells, in level order, and includes spells that are always prepared based on class, domain, patron, or whatever.
The character sheet doesn't clearly display the 2 initial Kensei weapon choices. They are lumped together with the calligraphy or painter's supplies proficiency. It does show later ones, though in separate entries, like the one gained at 6th level.

...then go back to the previous view and find the spell again to use it? Way too complicated to use. I would still prefer if spells would appear only once in the list, and I wish that could be set as default.

Exactly. Also the Manage Spells screen doesn't include all the useful columns of info about the spells (e.g. Effect) like the main Spells screen does.
It would be nice to be able to favorite creatures (wild shapes) and then be able to filter them. This would allow one to keep track of all learned wild shapes without cluttering the list all the time.

I've only added beasts to my Creatures panel that my druid has learned. I don't see the problem?
Radiant Sun Bolt shows up as action and attack lists in online sheet, but does not transfer to pdf in the weapon attack and cantrips section (even though it is checked to be displayed as an attack in the "customize" dialog box.
Just started playing an Abjuration Wizard. It would be nice if there were a separate HP box to track the Arcane Ward. Probably too difficult but thought I’d throw that idea in there...

Well depending on how many wild shapes your druid learns, this list can get pretty long. :-)

Any chance we can get a "night" mode for character sheets? The white on the sheets generates a lot of light on a large screen.
