I've been messing around with the editor for hours, explains why I couldn't get this working.
Please look into this feature DDB team, it'd be such a useful utility for players. Especially those using mobile devices at the table where clicking into menus is cumbersome and text can be small. Context & tracking for these actions/bonus actions in the main menus would definitely speed up play in my games and I'm sure lots of players new and old would benefit from this.
I'd like to resurrect this post. Looks like the original was back from 2019 and we are now in 2024. As far as I know, we still can't add action information to a magic item. Any word on this in the development roadmap?

And just because i know Dave and DJ will on soon, just to reiterate;
What the DDB team has done so far is amazing. Theres no other service like DDB on the internet, i couldn't do better, and DDB's brought nothing but positive to my table. All im hoping to achieve with my posts is represent my interests as a paying customer, and maybe having those interests being a little more weighted when you guys make the decision on what to develop next.
EDIT: ...cause i cry inside a little every time i check the trello, and see that homebrew rework still stuck in long term.
Pathbuilder2 is infinitely better than DDB for it's game, if DDB were even half as good as PB2 I'd say they did amazing work but... Dungeon Master's Vault is not nearly as powerful and DDB for homebrew stuff, but what exists is infinitely easier to use. Elder Dragon's Tavern is another system that works just as good if not better than DDB.
I appreciate the team's hard work I ain't saying otherwise, but the product is severely lacking and overly complicated for no reason at all. It ain't their fault, it's most definitely upper management that's at fault for this. Plus it's more than obvious that they'd already abandoned most stuff they were working on when it comes to DDB.
kind of hilarious that they was unable make such basic quality improvement despite actions in monsters stat blocks work for ages... it's probably wouldn't take even a week of work to do

Its been years since any major update to dndbeyond, and only recently have there been anything more than teensy bug fixes. To be honest most of their dev team has probably been wrapped up in two things: developing their VTTs (2d and 3d), and their only QOL improvements are those that will directly affect whatever flow exists between dndbeyond and those systems, and secondly their attempt to seemlessly kick-off 5.5e once it launches later this year. Its a shame basic QOL stuff like this has suffered since WOTC took over and redirected their efforts, but I'm crossing my fingers we see better QOL and customer service once their new "baby" is off to the races. One can hope.
I presume this feature has been abandoned considering it has been 5+ years since the post was made and responded to. Very disappointing.
sadly I figured, but what's the worse that happens if I tag Stormknight in the post again, maybe just maybe with a 0.00000000001% chance, they will reply again. lol

Stormknight no longer works here. You would do better to ask LaTiaJacquise instead.

Maybe that is why this support was seemingly abandon. Thank you IamSposta>>
Well LaTiaJacquise- you have been throw out, can you provide any updates for this "planned" feature?
Very unimpressed with D&D Beyond adding things.
It's been about 5 years, has this feature been implemented yet?
no

Same! I'm new to homebrewing and the fact that it doesn't exist is mindboggling.
Ok.. Well. This is werid... If we can't add to items directly, at least add it into the custom action area...

They aren't going to do it. They've abandoned most things on here.

Can Elder Dragon's Tavern handle homebrew?

I guess a temporary (hopefully) workaround would be to create a spell for the action, and attach it to the item that way.
