Myself I am stoked I love running the Urban adventures, the rules for a business and such along that route is just bonus to me. I do hope they add in some of the urban monsters that haven't been done in 5th edition yet, like Piranha Ants, Acid Pidgeons and a few others.
The videos keep saying these are available on dndbeyond.com, but I don't see them. Am I right in assuming that they're simply not available yet, and it's not that the site hates me specifically?
The videos are available. The book won't be available until the fall. The below was copied and pasted from the link provided in the original post.
WELCOME TO WATERDEEP!
A fantastic treasure trove is yours for the taking in this adventure for the world's greatest roleplaying game.
Famed explorer Volothamp Geddarm needs you to complete a simple quest. Thus begins a mad romp through the wards of Waterdeep as you uncover a villainous plot involving some of the city’s most influential figures.
A grand urban caper awaits you. Pit your skill and bravado against villains the likes of which you’ve never faced before, and let the dragon hunt begin!
Pretty underwhelmed by this one. Waterdeep has sooo much material already for it. I realize some noobs may need some of this stuff but why not just reprint a bunch of it in a campaign setting book? Hire an editor to copy and paste the important bits and a couple artist for a fresh new look. Presto! And then give us an adventure book we need...like a planer adventure for medium to higher level characters. It's been a long time since we got much on planer adventure.
I think this book a bit more useful than you give it credit for, pretty much all the other adventure are combat heavy ones and it is useful for DMs to have an adventure that does focus more on social encounters and heist based plot, relegating that to high level play would i feel kind of disencentivise that kind of campaign only further. As for waterdeep materials i like this i would rather they add it to the adventure rather than make me buy two books just to run an adventure, plus this will have moved the timeline forward for the city into the 5e "cannon". Plus rules for more stuff to do in downtime and shop owning which come up in longer campaigns especially high level ones is super useful. I mean i cant wait as will give my players something else to do in Sigil rather than just got tavern crawling every time they go home.
I also cannot wait for a Planescape 5e thing but i also can, cause i feel that will be an adventure + setting book + maybe a xanathars/volo like product ith more character options and monnster options and oh gods my wallet will die when it happens. And we do know at somepoint we are gettin an Eberron and Darksun books, though considering they plan 3-4 years ahead it may be some time yet.
I'm especially intrigued by the "heist" part. I don't know how well that would go over with my current group, but even more than running it I'd love to play in that sort of adventure.
The second book sounds a lot more interesting to me than the first. While I like a little bit of RP, I loathe puzzles, and I like combat. I'll be interested in the reviews when it comes out, but my first thought is meh, not for me.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
I've been looking all over the web, and I can't find a full list of everything that was announced over the stream.
The only things I can find are both books, the Beadle & Grimm's Platinum Edition, the map pack for the 2nd book, an art book, and the dice set.
It seems like there was a lot more announced last year. Gale Force 9's website says they were scheduled to be there to announce a new board game and minis from a post back in May, but I haven't seen any updates regarding if they were even there.
Eh, I got the ToA set and don't mind it so much because I'm a sucker for weird dice. I keep that set in the tin on a shelf though, so your point is salient.
These stand out to me a little more because it comes with large D20 along with a 2nd D20 for adv/dis, and a HP counter, which is a neat little doodad. Basically it depends on if I get bored enough and have any disposable income when these come out in November. Or being right around Christmas, it's an easy thing for my mom to get for me lol.
I don't know any details about the maps, but if they're complete playable player maps, I'll definitely throw money at that.
As much as I'd like to see Planescape and Dark Sun, I'd also like to see WotC come out with a brand new setting to blow us away. Something completely different and new.

Map pack? Schley, Blando versions?
Also, I'll be avoiding that dice set like the plague. The ToA one was such a huge disappointment and rip-off.
100% agree on the dice. The ToA d20 has a really odd arrangement of numbers too. And based on the images, the Waterdeep dice have the same arrangement. I wish they would just modify the dice sets they sold at the Meltdown stream last March, the ones that are usually in a glass on the table during the Dragon Talk videos. I occasionally see folks in streams rolling them. They could have done up some ToA dice based on those with green numbering, a percentile die, an extra d20, and a ToA devil-face logo in place of the ampersand. Here's a link to an image of the dice: https://imgur.com/a/QjsJac7
Doing something similar with the Waterdeep dice wouldn't be hard either.
As much as I'd like to see Planescape and Dark Sun, I'd also like to see WotC come out with a brand new setting to blow us away. Something completely different and new.
And now for something completely different.
Seriously, though, I would definitely appreciate a new setting. I'd also like--and possibly even use--Dragonlance, Planescape, Mystara, or even Spelljammer.

OK, that has made me interested in the first book, just so I can get to play through the second one.

Maybe not going to be for everyone, but I'm psyched for these. Urban heist (fun!) Plus a megadungeon to play in? Hell yeah!
Cool, I can't wait for the books to come out.
