Horatio Hirschfeld - Squire imbued with fae powers, in the Coliseum of Conquest (W2/L1) DM for Reavers of Harkenwold, and sometimes The Fighting Grounds of the Coliseum
(OP has been updated. In fact the first three posts have been updated with character creation details, contestants and links. If anyone has anything they wish to add to this let me know! The new town description reads as follows:)
After a long and difficult journey you have finally arrived. The town of Sel'eman was once a prosperous and powerful place. You may have read of the town itself, but more likely you've heard passing comments about what once stood here, the Coliseum of Conquest. In the ruins of the former city a new settlement has begun to grow. Many who had been lost in the catastrophe have returned and have begun to rebuild. Others, they say, were lost forever somewhere in time...
The partially collapsed ruins of the Coliseum dominate the southern end of Sel'eman. Splintered wood and tattered canvas litter the road outside the Coliseum where shops once peddled wares to spectators and tourists. Further off, near the former town's center, travelers have taken up residence in the abandoned buildings. The forges at the old armorer and weapon smith shops have grown cold, and the tinker's shop is earily quiet. Through the rutted streets, down the hill to the west, the docks sag into the sea. To the northeast a peaceful forest seems unaffected by the affairs of men. A river near the town, to the east, flows into the forest and ends in a brackish bog before it reaches the sea.
Upstream beside the river a hub of activity draws the attention of the new and veteran alike. The Academy, initially founded as a school of protective magic now teaches the ways of combat in every form.
Inside The Academy a sense if normalcy remains. Firmer competitors and new faces have become students and teachers of their craft. A tavern has been setup and people play games and listen to music. A stage stands at one end of the bar with a prep room in the back behind a curtain. Behind the bar a tabaxi with a scarred face and near permanent snarl ruins every drink he makes. Beside him a slightly more competant barctender is covered every inch from head to toe with dark green and grey cloth. Rather than prepare a customer's drink though, he seems to be pouring a glass for himself. Near the door a bulletin board is posted with a few ads and notices:
Posting 1: Hello all weathered and weary travelers. I thank you for your interest in our humble academy and welcome you to stay and learn all you can!
This though comes at a cost, as many things do, and that is sustainability. I know not what arrangement former owners had for stocking provisions. But since the calamity I doubt those deals or routes still stand. With this in mind I would ask that any who're brave enough venture out into the surrounding wilderness and hunt whatever provisions they can find. Coin will be paid for any donated to the Academy. Or you may keep your spoils for yourself.
The going rates are as follows: Small creatures will trade for 10 gp Medium creatures will trade for 40 gp Large creatures will trade for 120 gp Berries, Roots, and other Medicinal Herbs will trade for 25 gp a pound
It is not advised to go beyond any beast larger than an average beast of burden as such creatures are normally more of a hassle than they'll be worth.
Posting 2: This being a School we offer much more than trial by combat. As of now we are terribly short handed, but we aspire to grow and become a beacon of knowledge and bastion of safety for any on these grounds.
In that spirit if you find yourself tired of the traveled road feel free to become a professor here, teach on any subject you wish. Arcane, Cultural, Histories, Religions of far off lands, any and all knowledge is welcome here and encouraged to be shared.
(Any activity in this thread, including jobs posted and completed here, will not award experience.)
(If you have any details to add to this post, or notes your character would like to post I will add them here.)
Grianne wakes up in an all too familiar room. I got too confident from my past experience. What ever happened with that meteor has made me weak again. I must get stronger.
With a groan she sits up and removes an old box from her pack. After a couple minutes of rummaging through it she finds what she is looking for. She gets up and makes her way to the school.
However, before reaching it she stops off at her ever growing tree house and manages to pen a letter. Eldin will be so proud of my writing. she says to herself, smiling happily. When its done she leaves again for the new gathering place.
Sometime later that day, a small dusty black cat enters the common rooms and locates Swigg. It saunters over to where he is and drops an envelope by him and quickly scampers off.

Are there race restrictions for certain subclass for the arena? I was thinking of leveling up into bladesinger. And if so, would a Simic Hybrid with an elvish base still count under said restriction?

Nock is a rather tall, light skinned half-elf with a short beard. His hair is black, and the shadows always seem to twist around him. He's wearing full plate mail, and carries a shield on his back and a longsword on his belt. His shield has an oak leaf embossed on it.
Nock: Wins 1/Losses 2, Streak of 0. Downs: 1 (Technically)
Latrius can often be found hanging around the Glory, although he doesn't compete anymore. He's a middle aged looking wood elf, with short light blond hair. One of his eyes is green, and the other is red. He's wearing leather armor, and carries two swords on his belt and a bow and quiver on his back.
Latrius: Wins 1/Losses 0, Streak of 1. Downs: I don't remember and I'm lazy
Currently playing in: Quest for the Shunned City, Coliseum of Conquest, DragonDenn's Dragonlords, Shipwrecked on Fugue, Tomb of Annihilation, Razor's Lost Mine of Phandelver, The Lost Kenku & One Grung Above
Currently DMing: Princes of the Apocalypse, Out of the Abyss, Coliseum of Conquest—The Arena (Sometimes)
Eldin is a 5ft tall Green tiefling with black shoulder-length hair and bright yellow eyes. He has V-shaped horns and lacks a tail. He wears a dull yellow scarf, a brown belt, brown pants, brown boots and a beige shirt. He also wears a makeshift pendant made of thick string tied to a rock. He holds a shield with the holy symbol of Hades on it, metal gauntlets and medium armor. The scarf combined with his horns lends his face insect-like qualities.
Koplony is 6ft 7inches and has no hair anywhere on their body. Eyes are violet and nose is wide, also no apparent ears. He wears traveling clothes, sturdy boots, brown trousers, blue shirt, green cloak. Only apparent weapon is a dagger.
The little black cat drops her envelope at Swiggs feet, where ever he is in the new gather area, before scampering off to become an even bigger cat in the next Arena match.

Inside swings envelope are 2 things. One is a small gold colored metal harp pin. The second is a note. The handwriting is atrocious and perhaps the work of a small child, but is over all readable. It says
