I'm sorry for the delay, but I figured out how you can create new threads on Chromebooks and iPhones. (I don't think you can create threads on the News & Announcements subforum, but you can on every other one). The "new thread" button is on the right side of the screen next to "search" and "tools." On a phone, that button is on the left side. In both cases, you need to scroll up to the top of the subforum. And also make sure you're signed into your account.
There was this guy I was in a gaming group with back in 3.5 Edition. If you've gamed for long, you probably have met the type: very full of himself, convinced he was the smartest person in every room, tends to be extremely condescending to other people, always wants to brag about the stuff they've done and show off how much better they are at being a gamer than you.
So, this game started at 3rd level. He went two levels of wizard and one level of monk because "this is a totally OP combination." In reality, it was about the single most MAD multiclass combo you could make in 3.5, and since we were using the point buy system for character generation it left him with pathetic stats because he needed Strength (for melee damage rolls), Dex (for AC and Finesse), Con (for HP), Intelligence (for spells), and Wisdom (for monk AC and abilities). Only Charisma was left as a dump stat and he insisted on boosting that too because he was convinced he was the party's face despite us having a bard. So his ability scores were mostly 13s.
So we adventured for a while and his character was generally dead weight. Often literally since he would start fights and then get easily trounced because he had low HP, low AC, and low attack modifiers, so he tended to get knocked unconscious pretty easily.
But the part that really takes the cake was one session where we found ourselves on one side of a wide bay and needed to get to the other side. Rather than hiking all the way around it (which would have taken an entire day), we tried to hire a boat to take us across. The charisma characters were negotiating with the boat's owner for passage when That Guy said "this is taking too long, I'm just gonna pay him." Well, the amount we'd been quoted was exorbitant and consequently we were trying to negotiate a more reasonable rate until that point.
We cross the bay and the boat owner uses a signal mirror before we reach the docks. When we get there, we find that there's a crew of thugs waiting for us, since we'd tipped off our captain that we were well-off. They've got crossbows ready. We're considering what to do when That Guy shouts "I attack!" and jumps from the boat up to the dock.
Of course he's immediately subjected to the readied actions from the crossbow wielders and takes damage. Then he's up there in melee by himself. As soon as it's my turn, I jump my dwarven fighter up there to get back-to-back with him so that neither of us can be flanked. I start swinging my axe around, doing pretty well: with a good damage roll I can drop one in a single hit, or two hits if I roll low. Of course, this is not how That Guy rolls, he never tries to work together with the rest of us. So instead he jumps back in the boat and just sort of cowers there because he doesn't even have any ranged weapons. Well, the party won anyway, no thanks to him.
But that's not the stupid part.
The stupid part was a week later when I ran into That Guy at the comic book store and he somehow forgot that I was in that game with him because he tried to tell me about the session he'd just been in where he'd single-handedly saved the party from an ambush that the GM had unfairly rigged against them while everyone else just stood around and praised his awesomeness.
That Guy sounds like he's totally modest and smart! JK. The funniest part for me was how he thought he was such a good min-maxer and then made that build:)

Only had That Guy in the party once. It was somewhat a drop-in/drop-out campaign in one of the dorms back in Ye Olde Dayes of College.
His min-max build wasn't as abysmal as the one you described, but his gameplay sure was. There was an encounter with some homebrew creatures in a cavern. They had 3 of us down to minimal HP and we were trying to retreat to a narrower tunnel where we had more control of the situation. Instead he jumps deeper in the fray. We mourned his passing for about 3 minutes. When he tried to drop-in a few weeks later, we were at the DM's table max of 10 players. And we engineered 10 people sitting at the table with character sheets and minis and dice in front of them for over a month before he got the hint.
Icing on the cake? The local 'geek shop' as we called it (comics, games, books, and some insanely good coffee), actually banned him from participating in their events because he was so toxic to the groups or card game players he would get placed with.

I've never actually played with someone like that. And boy am I glad of it.

I have another pretty short story: my party of two have just completed their adventure, and shown proof to the noble who hired them for it. The two party members and the noble are alone in a room, and one of them, the lawful good cleric, decides that the reward for the success on the adventure isn't enough. They attack the noble, well the other party member watches, embarressed but amused. The noble is unarmed except for a walking stick, which I let deal 1 damage per an attack, though I probably should have let it deal more. Anyways, the level 2 cleric, with a couple bad rolls, is knocked unconscious by the nobles walking stick, 1 damage at a time.
Fortunately, this was only a one-shot, but I do wonder how much trouble the cleric would be in the law if the adventure/session hadn't ended their.
My entire group thought that the best way to deal with the gang in a wooden tavern is to light the ale on fire. It starts burning. They think its a good idea to run to the top of the building, and the door is locked. I get my head nearly split open when I AM USED AS A BATTERING RAM TO GET THE DOOR OPEN. Then I get thrown out the window and stabbed by a pirate. Fun times.

Fairly recent game, I am playing as a kitsune bloodhunter with a small group, Te important ones bein val, Our resident cleric, And randel our roge.
Our party had been invited to a party by a noble (The local duke) and got into a big fight, Got congratulated on our win by said duke. We go looking for clues about why people tried to kill us, Me and val go to the bar, Me to ensure val (The alcoholic) doesn't get drunk. and during this time our rouge sneaks into the dukes room and rifles through his stuff, Finds papers indicating that he may be involved in a slave trade. And decides to kill him, In the middle of his party, Without telling anyone whats up. Cu to me watching val attempt and fail to seduce the duke, He walks away from val and then a hooded figure pops up slits the dukes throat and disappears. Naturally the known rouge who disappeared is blamed. We ended the session as the royal guard and cleric rushed into the room
Fairly certain we gonna die

I dunno. I don't use phones for DDB. A lot of people on the forums do though, so one of them will probably be able to answer your question.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
