I’m guessing there’s some erroneous code in there that’s throwing things out of whack. Look at the html code for those Descriptions to see if there’s anything funky going on in them. At the top of the Description fields look for this button to show you the html code:
Is it possible to make an item that reduces speed? I have tried Bonus Speed -5 and Speed Penalty Impose 5, and iterations in which the +/- reversed. Nothing happens on the character sheet. I am able to affect d20 tests and spell save DC with Bonus <type> -1.

Modifier: Bonus->Subtype: Speed (Walking)->Fixed Value: -5 should work, it has in the past if I recall. But Modifier: Speed Reduction->Subtype: Impose->Fixed Value: 5 should also work. Did you remember to re-save the whole project after adding the modifier? N did you wait long enough to see if the Modifier kicked in?

Thanks, I found some code that was being injected from a browser extension, (which I have already reached out to the host/manager of it. It fixed the spacing/character sheet parts but it's still blank on the character builder, so I can at least use it in game. Thanks for your time, is there any other guidance to get it to show up in the character builder?

Yes, I've fought with the bodge long enough to know about the ~20 minute propagation time, and saving with the button which looks like it's for the text areas, but affects the properties section too. It's too bad they never got homebtew working as easily as the character creator.
I thought I had tried "Speed Reduction→Subtype: Impose→Fixed Value" with both 5 and -5 (the potential for a double negative makes that unclear), but maybe not. As to applying a negative bonus, having it affect the general "Speed" didn't seem to do anything. I didn't want to make a separate speed penalty for each movement type, but maybe that'll be necessary.
Anyway, thanks for the help! I'll add an edit here if I get it working.
Edit: The "Bonus → Subtype: Speed (<movement type>) → Fixed Value: -5" method worked. It's inelegant to need 5 modifiers; Burrowing, Climbing, Flying, Swimming, & Walking; for one effect, but at least it's functional. It may only work for movement types 'built in' to an ancestry, though. Flying gained from a homebrew feat didn't change because I had to use a Set modifier back when I made it.

Happy to help. All I can think of at the moment is to double check the code and get rid of everything but the paragraph markers and then re-save the whole subclass using the main save under Basic Information for the whole subclass.

Adding "Bonus → Speed (Flying) → Fixed Value: 30" didn't actually add a Flying speed, and a Set modifier overrides the speed penalty modifier. What I'm trying for is "you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed", but a flying speed of 30 works because the feat is only accessible to dragonborn. Do you know if there's a way to add a movement type which can still be affected by other modifiers?

Yes, if you use the Set modifier and the Innate Speed (whatever) subtype, but leave everything else blank it’ll automatically match that speed to the Walking Speed.

Sorry to bother if I've missed this somewhere, but do you know how I would add an ability modifier to another check? The feature I'm trying to implement adds Wisdom mod to Strength checks. I know I can replace it, but that's not quite what I'm going for. Specifically, it's for a subclass feature modifier if that helps or anything.
I've been trying to make my homebrew subclass have 3 options at the beginning that essentially act as a subclass of the subclass. So while the actual subclass has general features, the option given at the beginning provides more specific features, if that makes sense. Is this actually possible? If not, what would be the next best way of doing this?
It is in fact entirely possible. There’s a full walkthrough on how to properly set up Options in the Subclasses & Species FAQ #1 in the very first post in this thread. Give it a read and refer to it as you set up your Options, and if you need more help just ask.
I read through it a bit better. The option tree works, but I'm having trouble trying to get the granted features to work. I followed what the walkthrough said, but the feature just doesn't appear in the character builder.
edit: I checked the character sheet, and the features do show up in that. So I'm just gonna assume it's a weird quirk of dnd beyond
They don’t appear in a dropdown in the builder because they’re automatically granted, yeah. But the feature itself should show in the builder. Does it?
The feature does show, but the description of the granted option doesn't. Though going off what you said about automatically granted options, there isn't much I can do about that lol

Sure. You would have to apply that bonus to every skill associated with that Ability individually. Luckily for Strength that’s only Athletics.
