Heya, this guide is extremely helpful. Though I was perusing the FAQ for subclass and list of spells. I am trying to have a list of spells available at level 1 to choose 1 spell from. Then at level 6 you can choose another one from the same list with the spell chosen at level 1 excluded from the list.
While it works just fine, for example gust and shocking grasp. Choose one at level 1, then at level 6 you get the other one you didnt choose. When I do the same method as the level 1 it pops up showing both spells as expected. Repeat for level 6 it shows both spells even though you already know say gust Is there a way to exclude that spell if you already know it?
I probably will go to bed before you reply so apologies if I don't respond quickly. Thanks for the assistance and the excellent guide.

Not really, no. The system isn’t actually smart enough to know what you already have and exclude it. You can however accomplish it by using Options and attaching each spell to its own Option, and then letting the character get 1 Option at 1st level and another one at 6th level. It usually isn’t that bit a deal since most players won’t choose the same spell twice, but if you really want to do it you can read all about Options in the Subclasses & Species FAQ #1.
How do I make later choices dissapear if they chose something else earlier. I basically want to make them choose an element, then they get features based on the element.
Edit: incorrect question, i want them to be able to swap between them when short/ long resting. this would also change the bonuses in later perks. for reference this is the homebrew I am transferring over.
You would use Options. You can find a full walkthrough on how to properly set up Options in the Subclasses & Species FAQ #1 in the very first post of this thread.
I'm trying to create a feat that adds a modifier to strength or dexterity, however it's not adding the +1 to either when I select one. What am I missing?

Yeah, it’s just the way it works.

Alright, well thanks for the input. Was just trying to make it "idiot proof" but choice is what matters more I feel. Thanks again.
Sure thing. And like I said, you can make it idiot proof, it’s just gonna take a lot more work to set up.

So with creating a homebrew feat, if an official source doesn't have a feat similar, it won't be an option to pick
Ex: feat prerequisite is it needs a proficiency or attunement to a +1 weapon.
Add a prerequisite, picking proficiency, the only options are armor.
Just confirming, and thank you for your time.
Correct. Since that’s not an official prerequisite it isn’t one here.
