Oh then will it actually work if we just add the die roll d6 without the number in the start? Eg. 1d6 but only d6? Or will it work vice versa 1 but no d6 will it actually scale? I will have to try this!
I'm trying to create an item that adds plus 2 to ranged spell attacks and plus 2 to save DC's on saving throws on spells you cast but I can't figure out how to appropriately add the modifiers. Which modifiers should I use?

Is there a way to give someone a Default proficiency and, if they already have it, allow them to choose another? Like "At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with smith's tools. If you already have this tool proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice."
I have a question regarding options for a Racial trait. I'm currently working on a spiderfolk race with the ability to change from their humanoid form to a half-Spider form. Here is the ability.
At the end of a short or long rest you can choose whether you shift between your humanoid form or your Half-Spider form. In your Humanoid form you have advantage of perception checks and you cannot be surprised while awake.
When you are in your Half spider form your height increases by 1ft. and your weight increases by 60 pounds. Your AC becomes 13 + your dexterity modifier when not wearing armor, If you are wearing armor it is a +1 bonus to your AC. Your walking speed increases by 10ft. and your climbing speed increases by 10ft. After each long rest if you have chosen to remain in your half-Spider form you must make a Constitution Saving throw DC 10 + 5 for each successive long rest after the the between form changes. For example 1 long rest is a DC 10. 2 long rests is DC 15, 3 long rests DC 20. If you fail this check you can choose to stay in the form and take one point of exhaustion or fail to maintain the form taking 1d8 necrotic damage as you shift back to your humanoid form.
When I have attempted to make a character with this race it seems that the choice isn't there in the character builder.
This there a way that I can make these options available in the character builder for players to use? Thanks

Unfortunately not. The dropdown to make a tool like that the default is unavailable to us as homebrewers. The best you can do is list the default as plain text and grant the choice.

I gave a full walkthrough on how to properly set up Options in the Subclasses & Races FAQ #1 in the very first post only this thread. You would make each form it’s own Option and attach the various Modifiers to each Option.
The cosmetic aspects such as height and weight would just be purely descriptive text as there is no Modifier for those.
The scaling Save DC is not possible to program, the player would have to track that for themself. There is no way to automate either the exhaustion or the necrotic damage either, those are also something the player will have to track for themself.
Not sure. It should work, but I haven’t tested it. Run your experiment and let me know, I’m interested to know the result.

I refer you to the General FAQ #3: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq?comment=1). I recommend the Champion subclass (for the Archery Fighting Style), and the Rod of the Pact Keeper. That aught to answer your question.

Hello all,
I am attempting to make a +1 Battleaxe that does an additional d8 to critical damage. IE 3d8 instead of 2d8 on a crit. How can I go about this?
With plain text. Please see the Items & Equipment FAQ in post #1 of this thread for more information.
