Hello. You might be familiar with my other thread, “Sposta’s Quick Custom Commoners.” This one is similar, but for other NPCs. Simply adding any race and any background to any of the statblocks listed below can make a customized NPC for your campaign in minutes. It can work on many more statblocks as well. Remember, these are not intended to be the “rank-and-file” nameless NPCs, that’s what the basic statblocks are for. These are intended to be those special contacts that the party inevitably makes. I’ll update everyone whenever I publish another NPC. Enjoy.
By special request, here are some Quick Custom NPCs utilizing the Statblocks, Races, Sample Bacgrounds & Feats from Mordenkeinen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse (and later publications), and the One D&D Character Origins UA. (*Included is a redux of Sular Waverider, and my most popular NPC to date, Ander Brightwood!) Enjoy.
Fey Ancestry. Herjor has advantage on saves against being charmed, and magic can’t put him to sleep.
Trance. Herjor doesn't need to sleep, but meditates semiconsciously for 4 hours a day. After resting in this way, he gains the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Actions
Shortsword. Melee Weapon Attack:+4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage.
Shortbow. Ranged Weapon Attack:+4 to hit, range 80/320 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage.
Bonus Actions
Fey Step (1/Short Rest). Herjor Can cast misty step.
Role Playing Information
Personality Traits. “I’m always polite and respectful.” “I can stare down a hell hound without flinching.”
Ideal. Nation. “My city, nation, or people are all that matter.”
Bond. “My honor is my life.”
Flaw. “I’d rather eat my armor than admit when I’m wrong.”
Description
Creatures of magic with strong ties to nature, eladrin live in the twilight realm of the Feywild. Their cities sometimes cross over to the Material Plane, appearing briefly in mountain valleys or deep forest glades before fading back into the Feywild.
War has been Herjor’s life for as long as he cares to remember. He trained as a youth, studied the use of weapons and armor, and learned basic survival techniques, including how to stay alive on the battlefield. Now Herjor is a first seargent of his own scouting unit for The Queen’s Army.
This concludes my regular series of Quick, Custom NPCs. Any future posts will be made by request only, or if I just so happen to get inspired by something. I hope it’s inspired some of you to create your own customized NPCs. It’s been fun.
