Edited: Thank you so much, I learnt so much from Mairondil and appreciate the points from Dragonlouis and IamSposta! I will adjust and make one accordingly!
Hello all, newbie DM here and any views and advice would be much appreciated! Thanks so much for your time reading this. :)
I have a friend who has a barbarian character (pre-made by me), but it is getting a bit plain for him. I helped him to pick the martial adept feat so as to diversify his battle style. He can now have 2 manoeuvres but only 1d6 superiority die.
I could not seem to find any magical item that gives players extra superiority dice at all. I am now thinking about making a magical ring that gives 2 extra superiority dice (2d6) which requires attunement. If someone that does not have any manoeuvre at all, can pick one from the battle master list.
So my question is, would this magical item be too OP? Is there any particular reason why no homebrew items related superiority dice are made in the first place? Many thanks again!
The idea behind superiority dice is that you've trained with weapons enough that you know how to do certain maneuvers. You might be able to make a ring which magically makes its user better with the weapons and giving superiority dice. However, this is kind of like giving a player a subclass (battle master) without them actually playing the subclass. Martial Adept stops at 1 superiority dice for a reason. I'd make this rare or more.

No, that’s not OP at all. As to why there are no currently existing homebrew items that function the way your idea works is because DDB’s system cannot actually create such an item. There are no ways to add Options (such as Maneuvers) to a homebrewed Magic Item, and there is also no way to add Actions (such as Superiority Dice) to a homebrewed Magic Item. You will have to use Charges to represent the additional Supperiority Dice and the player will have to roll the dice from the Action granted by the feat.
You need to make a modified Martial Adept feat that allows for more limited uses. Read through this and make a few changes:
In Create Martial Adept (fixed): After step 6:
In the snippet change "one" to "two"
In the Limited Use section, click Edit on the Base and change the 1 to a 2.
Change step 9 to: "You learn two maneuvers of your choice from among those available to the Battle Master archetype in the fighter class. If a maneuver you use requires your target to make a saving throw to resist the maneuver's effects, the saving throw DC is {{savedc:str, dex}}. You gain two superiority die per short rest, which is a d6, that is used to fuel your maneuvers."

Okay, I'll do my best.
